  1. Hi everyone! I haven't posted in a while. It's been a looong journey.

My initial surgery was 8/12/13. I almost immediately began having problems getting fluids to stay down. After episodes of daily nonstop vomiting and dehydration, I was admitted to the hospital on 8/22. I was NPO for most of my hospital stay. I couldn't even keep ice chips down.

After a failed attempt of a balloon dilation, my surgeon went back in on 8/31 to correct my sleeve. I woke up in excruciating pain that evening. My heart rate was extremely high during the night. The nurses were very concerned. My surgeon came in that morning and told me that he needed to go back in to check for a leak. After 6 hours of surgery, I was revised from the sleeve to RNY due to a small leak in my sleeve.

I've been doing much better since the revision. I'm hopeful that things will work out with my new pouch. Just nervous about dumping. But, I'm taking things one day at a time. :-)

  2. I am scheduled to have weight loss surgery next week August 28th and I have been placed on a clear liquid diet. Today i messed up.. I wanted some meat so bad so i ate some ground beef in my Soup. Ok the past 3 days I have been putting meat in my soup.. I know my liver have to shrink. But I was hungry for meat.. What should I do? Do I have to push my surgery out for another week?

It's a mind over matter situation. When you mess up 1 time, you have to accept that and keep moving. Speak to your NUT and let them know your progress and situation. Maybe they can change your diet. Good luck!!!

  3. Hi everyone! I've been having issues with vomiting for the last 3 days. Any advice or experiences would be helpful...

I've not been able to hold down ANYTHING. No cold or hot liquids, Protein shakes, Water, Powerade, etc. etc. Even after two small sips, it will come up after 20 mins. Seems like its not getting to my new stomach. As if it just gets stuck in my esophagus.

My surgeon sent me to the ER yesterday for treatment of nausea, for some IV fluids and a CAT Scan. I felt a little better. But, I vomited again 10 mins after coming home, and two more times this morning after sipping on apple juice. The hospital sent me home with Prevacid and Zofran prescriptions. I'll be picking them up this afternoon. I hope I can keep them down.

    Any help?? :-)

  4. Oh no are you ok!? Just getting on tonight for the first time and seen your post! Praying for you!

I'm still in the ER. Feeling better. They're trying to determine where my nausea is coming from. I believe it's my esophagus. I'll keep you guys updated.

Congrats on coming down 2 sizes!!!

  5. Hi!! I'm currently in the ER everyone! I haven't been able to keep ANYTHING down these past two days. Not even a sip of hot tea. So, my doc sent me here for IVs and meds. I felt much better after vomiting so many times (sorry...TMI) but I'd be on a road to dehydration if I didn't come. Pray for me!!!

    8 days postop -- sleeved 8/12. 30 pounds down since 7/29.

  6. Lol Thanks Rob! It's day 5 now. I'm doing well. Down 14 pounds since surgery. I had a down day yesterday and questioned myself for getting surgery. But, I've been doing much better since then.

I'm walking, sipping, and resting. I'm trying to figure a way to keep Water from giving me heartburn. I can only drink diet juices and Powerade zero. I'm headed to pick up meds my doc ordered now.

    How are you holding up?

  7. I think its almost like trial and error lol! Crystal light gives me masssssiiiivvvveee heartburn! I have moved on to pureeds....it felt terrible the first couple of days but its getting easier. I have been eating baked potatoes and they are yummy. Plus rotisserie chicken with gravy. Just gotta chew it up right away! It will get better! SO happy for you my sleeve sister!

You don't know just how lucky you have it Nat!!! Lol I can't tolerate Jello or chicken broth. The thought of it is disgusting right now! I'm looking forward to these following weeks.

On a good note: I'm down 14 pounds since surgery (8/12) and 23 total. So that feels amazing!!! Yay! This loser's bench is pretty cool.... Hehe ;-)

  8. 4 days post op and I have a huge air bubble in my chest. Hope it works it way out soon.

I'm also day 4! Pay attention to the fluids you're taking in. My body isn't agreeing with plain Water or crystal light/Mio. I get those bubbles and heartburn. Walking eases the pressure. Try diet V8 splash. It goes down smoothly.

  9. :Begins Rant:

When does the "Why the heck did I get surgery" feelings end???

I was a pre-op'er who always remained positive. Even through my 2-week diet. But, now I see its not easy. Welp, no one said it will be. I'm just in & out with my moodiness. I can't wait to see the scale during my 1-week post-op visit on Monday. Maybe that'll change things a bit...

    :Ends Rant: ;-)
