So, that's pretty cool, I guess....

And there is a lot less of your arse to see :-0 Congratulations, well done - and two thirds of the way there with your humour intact! xx

    struggling a little

Vent away! You have been a real inspiration over the time I have been on the site. You have been strong about all you have been through and thoughtful about the way you recount your story. So I am sorry to hear that you have been stressed by your life recently. I am not going to tell you off for anything you said about what you've eaten - I might if I was perfect but I ain't! But rather than beating yourself up about what you've done, what would you have done in the past when stressed? I bet by comparison, the last week has still been a fraction of what you would have eaten in the past. Great thing is your self-awareness. You know what you've done - and you know how to fix it. You're out your exercise routine and that will come back. You're a bit squashed by life, but that will pass. You've got this. Be kind to yourself as you have been to others when they have slipped. So, CGJ, time to get back on the horse and get on with it !!!! :-)))))

    Every little helps!

    Problems - can you help?

Can't help with wounds - poor you, that sounds awful - but problems and 1 and 2 are likely to be linked. If you aren't keeping anything down, you will have no energy and won't be able to do anything. No idea how old the kids are - can you get them to do anything to help? That aside, a little dirt never did anyone any harm Problem 1 needs attention. By week 4, you might expect to be getting a little in and keeping it down. Have you been checked by your PCP? Otherwise, are you actually trying to get too much in? The sensations you describe sound how I felt In the early days when I tried to eat more than I should- took me a few weeks to get the hang of how little I should be eating. Are you still on purée - perhaps you need to go back a stage to give your stomach a bit longer to recover? Do you chew everything to death, until it is a liquid in your mouth? Perhaps you need to eat little and more often? Sorry if you have tried all these things but they are the usual starting points to try to sort the problem. But if you have tried and you are still in pain eating and still throwing up, you need to see a doc and get a medical opinion. Good luck, let us know how you get on....
  7. You'd protesting too if you'd been chopped up Your stomach is recovering from the surgery and while it's loud now, it will settle back to normal - quieter - sounds. It may be it's way of telling you it needs fluids or Protein...you will learn to understand soon.... For now, congratulations on becoming a sleever. Hope you do well!

    Post op soups and protein

I lived on tomato soup for the first couple of weeks. I added milk fortified with skimmed milk powder to boost the protein content.... No issues with it :-) also made sure it was the low salt/sugar version...

    You must be proud...

    Ha ha ha ha!!!!!!

    Best post op diet?

You fortify your milk by adding skimmed milk powder to it. A tablespoon adds 3.5g of Protein with no effort. So every time I had milk, I added a few tablespoons and I could get way more protein in with little effort. I also added it to things like scrambled eggs, Soup, yougurt etc. Doing it three or four times a day added between 25 to 30g protein without me noticing.... Just a different way of doing it - and it was also pretty cheap....

    Gaining after Surgery

First thing to do is breathe! Your body is adjusting to its new reality and it will be a bit all over the shop for the next few weeks. Stick to your plan - Water first, then Protein and get moving. And throw away the Wii !!!! Stop weighing every day - the numbers will be up and down because its early days, once a week is plenty for now. I know it's all new and you are keen to see results. I don't know how long it took you to get to your surgery weight but you can't expect to lose it all over night. If you stick with what you've been asked to do, your sleeve will work to get you the results you want. So for now, keeping sipping your water, get in as much protein as you can and keep moving. You are so enthusiastic, you will get there, just a little bit of patience and be kind to yourself :-)

    Best post op diet?

I am unusual - I have never had a Protein shake! I used fortified milk and worked hard to get my protein in. Worked for me, bloods have always been good and weightloss steady all the way to goal. I wanted to eat in such a way that I could get back to normal life - and shakes didn't fit my view of how the majority of the population ate. I also eat out 3 or 4 times a week through work and I felt I needed to be able to eat my protein, not drink it. But that's just me and many on here swear by them... ????

    Best post op diet?

Protein, protein and more protein is the best thing to fill you up - but I don't think you will have issues about not feeling full with a sleeve I found that denser protein like tuna and red meat took me longer to get back in to my diet but moist chicken, eggs, cheese, yogurt etc are easier to start with. Stick with your eating schedule (2weeks liquid etc) as that really gives your stomach a chance to heal and recover. In the first couple of weeks, the priority is Water - sip, sip, sip. protein is less important at that stage. But it won't be easy for the first few weeks, it's different from any previous experience. I was shocked at how little I ate but felt fine energywise. You will learn quickly that there is such a thing as eating one mouthful too much and paying for it!!!! But it is so worth it. My life has transformed and my health issues are all resolved.... Good luck, I wish you well :-))))
  14. AR40, not sure I like looking at me either - but it didn't put off the one now referred to as the Naked Hottie, lol!!!!

    Surgery places

Lol, knew what you meant. Hope you find someone to help get you the info you need to make a decision about France/Czech Republic. Not sure I could have gone abroad, was hard enough to get from the Murrayfield to home post-op - and I only live 10 mins away. Appreciate that the cost is a huge factor but I have appreciated being able to attend the regular appointments with the nurse, dietician and psych when I have needed it. If you have any questions about the surgery or anything related, please feel free to give me a PM :-) Good luck!

5 days and Im freaking out

Canam60, I'm with you! They lay me down and started to explain what was happening. I remember the cannula going into my hand - and then nothing until I was coming round in recovery... I didn't even have time to look around the room. Zoumommy, nerves are to be expected, this is serious and major surgery. But 9 months out and being a healthy, happy sleever who can't quite believe it all, I have no regrets. Worth it all!
  17. CGJ, was going to suggest you check Alan out... But see you have already I agree with an earlier poster, you'll instinctively know who to tell and when you feel it's right. In my vast recent experience (3 dates with different guys and one night with the Naked Hottie), I told one but not the other two (NH had come to see me as I recovered from surgery and so knew and didn't care). The one I told was gobsmacked -"you don't look like you were ever fat" whatever that means! The other two assumed I was just another fit, healthy girl. I didn't feel bad for not telling them as I didn't feel we were going to go anywhere. But the one I told was because I felt there might be a potential relationship.... wrong again, lol! WLS doesn't give you additional powers when it comes to picking men, unfortunately... Agree with what Revs says, to tell is to make yourself vulnerable and open to someone not understanding. But think you will know if it's a guy who will react well or badly....

    Surgery places

If its not too cheeky a question, why are you thinking about going to France from Scotland?
  19. Thanks - I was just shocked that the monthly premium went from £350 to £650 per month only because of WLS.... Don't mind a surcharge but that seems like trying to have their cake and eat it too!!!!!
  20. Just heard today that the company (in the UK) considering me for life assurance will accept me - at twice the rate it offered before my medical. Not because the medical showed up a problem - I was perfect in respect of weight, BP, cholesterol, no sign of diabetes etc. The nurse who did it described me as being "as fit as a wee flea". I am being penalised solely because I have had bariatric surgery - because they don't have long term evidence of what that means for mortality! I have gone back and pointed out they can't have it both ways. I was morbidly obese with significant comorbidities and they were prepared to give me insurance. Now I am healthy, I am to be charged twice the price when I am actually less likely to die and make them pay out!!!! Aaaaaaargh! Has anyone else had a similar experience? After all I have been through, I will not take this lying down....
  21. Ms AntiBand is right - wait and see what happens. I used Toppick, keratin hair fibres that's a powder you puff in the roots that fill in the gaps where the hair is thin. It saved my life! I lost half my hair but I had a lot to begin with. But even so, I eventually got more layers put in and cut it slightly shorter - but nothing drastic and I was the only one to notice what was happening. Now 9 months out and hair is coming back in with a vengeance! Good luck!

    Where are the 50s ???

Dee Nothing vain about wanting to be alive for as long as possible and live a healthy, good quality life. I was 51 and a half when I was sleeved nine months ago and it's like being reborn. The second half of my life is going to be the life I always should have had... Good luck, all of us 50s are here with you!
  23. Dawalsh, am looking into it. There may be others that will be more open to it, but apparently it is an issue in the UK that doctors are trying to get addressed. Have checked the company's own website and they seem to be contradicting themselves, so will be all over them like a rash to get them to reverse their decision :-)
  24. It seems you might still not be able to take it out!!!! Damned if you don't lose weight, damed if you do

    Surviving when life sucks

I was stunned to read your post, I am so, so sorry for your loss. There are no words I have to make any real difference other than to say I am sending you love and hugs. You sound strong but please be kind to yourself and take care in the days ahead. I hope you don't mind me sharing this, but there is a line by a WW1 poet that has always resonated with me: "Some say God caught them before they fell" It's an image that gives me comfort....
