How is all my bandland buddies doing? You guys are a great support group, I see all the teachers are getting ready to go back to work(you guys are the best), hard working, caring and underpaid.

On another note, I'm still in bandsterHELL, I'm not losing much, just maintaing,I really changed my diet, It was amazing how much garbage I use to eat, it sucks having no restriction, two more weeks, and hopefully that will change.

Today is my Granmas' B-day 83 years old, she is an amazing women, RedLobster tonight, it's her favorite.

We are leaving for the beach tomorrow, so excited, I'm down between 17-22 lbs, it depends on how many pickles I eat, my wife thinks I'm the one who is pregnant.

I love my band so much, this is kind of weird, but I like the fact that I have no restrction and can eat anything I want, don't get me wrong, I want a fill asap, and get to my goal weight. But I was thinking about when I get to my goal weight, on certain holidays I can have a feast once in a while, that does put a big smile on my face. My wife and her family are great cooks all downhome Paula Dean style cooks, everything is homemade.

and my family, thought I was crazy, but I'm 34 no health issues yet, but it runs in my family, stroke, heart disease, high Blood pressure, diabetes, my parents were like, you should diet harder, I have been dieting for 7 years, I got banded July 9th of this year, love my band, its just a tool, my wife is excited, we have a 3 yr old and one on the way, I did it for my health, and my wife and children, good luck on whatever you decide, Danny It's like Nike(Just do it) your health is more important than whatever people think

If he is cheating, he has to go, call me old fashioned, but once a cheater always a cheater, I do not believe in 2nd chances, thats a bond of trust that is broken, I do not think I could ever heal from that, I think I would have to much anger and rage at my wife if that was going to happen, we took vows under God, thats something that is extemely important to me, I had all my fun in my early to mid 20's now I'm going to be 34 this month with my 2nd child on the way. If I was to cheat my wife would leave me, and I know that for a fact, I don't think I could respect her if she stayed. I would never want my litlle Callie girl away from her mom and dad, I could not envision life without my wife Leila and Callie. Yes , he was awsome, ready4change is the web site, There were 3 of us taht day, everything went as planned, they picked me up at the airport on time(driver spoke English) STRAGHT TO THE HOSPITAL, Immaculate, very clean, and modern, never seen one so nice, surgery went well, nurses are very sweet, speak little english but I manged, stayed at the sheraton 4 points , very nice and clean, only 3 english channels, if you have alltel service you can change your plAN TO INTERNATIONAL, so phone worked, watched a lot of dish on demand movies $10.00 apiece, there is a mall that connects to the shereton, did a lot of walking, felt very safe, everything they promised, it was kept, he is an amazing Dr. I would highly recommend him, good luck, Danny

It's official: I am in Bandster's Hell!

Up until yesterday I felt no hunger whatsoever but today I wake up and voila, I am starving! And I have to be on liquids only until next Friday. Boy, it will be a long week. :faint:

From ab out day 4 I was in hell, so hugry, I started eggs and cottage cheese, I probably was not suppose to, after two weeks I could eat anything, if I had to do it all over again I would have stayed on the diet as recommended, because I lost 15lbs. the first week and 3-5lbs. since, I need a fill asap!! LOL! I, too, have a rather large chest, even after a reduction. I was a 48F before my surgery. Now, I'm a 42D. Still a little hefty. But Icy, you can have some of mine, too!

Lynette, I have the 10mm, 4cc band also. My doc had the same attitude as yours. He knows it works well. He prefers the 4cc because he feels it is easier to get a good restriction with it. Every doc is different.

Danny, How exciting! Hearing the heartbeat for the first time is so special. Hope you wife is feeling well. You and Lynette are doing so well, 20lb loss. Can't wait until I am there.

Thank you so much, we just got back from the Dr. everything went well, you could see the head, body, legs, arms. The Dr. had a strong suspicion its goin to be a boy, he said it was to early only 3mon. 3 days he said we will know for sure between 4-5 months. But I'm so excited. Kathy, I know we were banded on the same day. Today my doc said I could eat soft/mushie foods progressing to more solid the following couple of weeks. I had some Refried Beans for lunch and some egg salad for dinner. Just a small amt. The hardest part was not drinking with the meal or 45min-1hr afterwards.

i wanna know if i'm over reacting and i would really like your honest opinion.

This morning i woke up early, i got out of bed , Adam was on the Balcony having a stupid fucking smoke and the computer was opened on Adam Facebook page. (face book is like bebo or my space)

I was totally in shock, i've a bebo account and adam never showed any interest in it.

He's had it for 5 weeks and never told me about it. when i asked him about it he said that he checks it every morning and some evening i'm betting every evening i'm not here. now i would never have found out about this only that he taught i was asleep.

i was really hurt, i felt like he was hiding it from me. what do i care if he has this homepage but why not tell me.

i seriously fed up of little things like this. his mobile is always on silent, call me neive if you want but i dont think hes cheating but i dont understand what be so secerative.

Dini, give him the benefit of the doubt, guys hate communicating, there is something in our brain, probably a defieciancy were kind of messed up creatures, just be straight forward with him, ask him why? we like direct questions, if he is up to something he will be beating around the bush, I don't tell my wife I'm talking to a bunch of women on here, but when that cruise comes up, I'll be excited and tell her to get ready, and she will be happy, I do not feel like I'm doing anything wrong talking to all of you . You have a buetiful little girl who needs her Daddy, I would try to talk with him, its hard for guys to show and discuss our feelings, we are taught to be strong, not to worry, to be a man, the mushy, gushy feelings are very hard for us to talk about. Danny, great to hear from you. So exciting about the heartbeat. That would be wonderful to travel all over, and at 45. WOW, you're on the right track. I've been battling with this mortgage group I've dealing with since December 11 of LAST year to refi this house. It's a huge mess, and I was getting a lawyer to handle it, but haven't got the funds to do so. So I'm getting taken to the cleaners, pretty much, but they are paying my prepayment penalty so I'll be geting back about $4,800 after the closing. Very long story, but in the end, I believe we are now putting my 1st ans 2nd mortgage(that I took out for surgery) onto 1 loan, so that's why they have to come appraise the house again. They just appraised in January. Oh well, sounds like you're doing great though. I've been on the scale this morning and I'm down 20 lbs. also!!!

Were you dealing with a company off the internet? Whenever a I build a house for a person that gets a construction loan off the internet it is the biggest headache in the world, and so is bank of america, thier main headquarters I believe in Texas, everything seems to go wrong with thier loan depaartment, I personally bank with them, so convienat, atms' everywhere, but I hate dealing with them, things that take usually 4 weeks takes 8-12. but anyway, 20lbs AMAZING!!!, hOW WAS THAT FIRST FILL, DID YOU NEED IT, I need one so, so ,so BAD!!! Cazulay, don't sell yourself short. You can do a medium, anyone can get to medium, but you have to believe!!! It's so possible with this tool. I've never imagined myself in anything under a xl, but this time, I'm going for a SMALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doing well, started exercising, starting to lose a little, down about 20lbs, I hope you all are doing well. I miss writing you guys everyday, just been so busy, we goto hear the heartbeat tomorrow, I hope everything goes well. I'm so excited about being a Dad again. Signed my 3yr old up for gymnastics, tonight is the first class, as you see, the work never ends. I can't wait for my first fill, it will be on my b-day Aug, 23rd, My restriction is nowhere to be found, I pretty sure I can eat the same or real close to the same pre surgery, its kind of scary, seeing 15- 17lbs in the first week, 3-5 since then. Anyway no portpain, scars are healing nicely.

Lynette I think I'm going to refi my house here shortly, any recomendations, I heard countrywide was really good. I got so lucky with my house, my grandma, bought me 6 acres about 7 years ago, she paid 15,000 for a wedding present, I saved up almost all the lumber for previous jobs for almost 10 years, I had most of the doors, windows, cabinets, blocks, etc. I did all the labor with 4 close friends,except ac, roof, sheetrock, I spent a little more than 30 grand, and when we had that explosion in the market, they appraised my house for alomost 350,000. I'm very fortunate to be in this situation, I hope 10 more years of building, roughly 45 I can retire, thats a goal, 45 healthy and travel the world. Lynette, I'm sorry about those pancakes, that seemed really rough. I have been so busy with work, and family, I guess the bad thing is I lost the 18lbs. in the first week, and just maintained. I'm scheduled for a fill in St. Pete (fill centers usa), on my birthday Aug. 23rd that will be the best present in the world. My wife is getting better with the morning sickness, we go on Aug 3rd for the heartbeat(very excited). Hello everyone, just giving you all my one week post op report. I feel great, slight port pain(very tolerable), still bloated, liquids do not make me full any longer, went to scrambled eggs with a little ketup, and cottage cheese, and a strawberry smoothie, This makes a big difference. I'm down 17lbs,and can actually see my face getting thinner(a motivational uplift).

We have a lot of people getting surgery today, my thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you. We want a speedy recovery.

Yes, I did get banded on 7/9 and feeling great (tender at the port site) - but, I can get in and out of the chair and bed now. I am just sooooo hungry. Full liquids are OK - but, I did not think my stomach would growl so soon.

Yes I got banded the same day, I have had the same effects you have had. I finally started eating scrambled eggs, and cottage cheese, I'm very full now, and no stomach growls, Danny

I am being banded this Tuesday. (YEAH!!) My mom will come to Dallas on Thursday, the day I arrive back from my surgery. She think I will need her to take care of me.....( I love my momma!!)

So here is the situation.......

My uncle is a psychologist. He does all the psych. evals in his area for people considering Lapband or Gastric Bypass. A couple of weeks ago my whole family was having dinner. After dinner, the issue of weightloss and his patients came up. My mom very jokingly said she thought I was getting the Lapband (she had no idea at this time that I was) in Mexico. My uncle very quickly began telling me and my mom that I should never do that because I was not 100 pounds over weight and so on.......He gave me the speech I am sure he gives his patients when he tells them they have been denied for the procedure.

So, all that to say he is coming to Dallas 3 days after I get the Lapband for a medical convention and wants to have dinner with my mom and I. SO...... when I don't each the huge amount I used to he is going to know.

Do I:

1. Not go to dinner and avoid seeing him the weekend after my surgery. He will know when I don't eat my normal amount.

or

2. Go to dinner and tell him and face his opinion of having a surgery done in Mexico that I couldn't qualify for in the US... (of, course that is his opinion)

I need a little help here.... THis is my family...not just people I work with or friends. What would you do?

Michelle , I hope your doing well, we miss you. I would tell him and listen to his opinion(thats all it is) and respectfully disagree with him. You are your own person, you do not have to please anyone but yourself. He did not pay for your surgery, you owe him, nor anyone nothing. You did this to be healthy, to feel more attractive, to boost your self esteem, I'm behind you a 100%, whatever your descision is, I miss talking with you, and hope you are doing well, sorry I'm so opionated, Danny

Hey Lucky 7's!

I got back from the hospital today. My experience was stressful to say the least. On the way to Mexico, our flight was cancelled due to an engine problem as we were taxiing to take off. We luckily were able to get the last two seats on standby on the next flight which was two hours later. I was freaking out the whole time though because I was supposed to get to the hospital early and have the pre-op workup done and have surgery in the afternoon. The patient coordinator assured me that surgery would still be on but just pushed back a few hours.

So I ended up having surgery that afternoon and it went without complication and I was feeling good. But when I went to try some ice, I got about 6 ice cubes melted and swallowed and started feeling this horrendous pain and pressure in my chest. I got really nauseated and come thisclose to passing out. It subsided after about an hour and the doctor told me he thought it was a esophageal spasm from the cold.

The next morning I went for the contrast swallow x-ray and I could tell by looking at it that it wasn't going through the band. I also got the awful pain/pressure again. So to make the rest of this long story short, I had to go back in and have surgery again and had the band changed to the largest one(11 cc band).

Thank god the surgeon was so awesome (Dr. Valencia is the man!), and I was able to put my faith in him to get this done. I now am so happy to be at home and feel pretty good except for the gas which just started on the airplane home, great timing huh? I would never believe I would be so relieved to drink a few ounces of broth and Water, but it is SWEET after experiencing "the dark side"!

Now I have to go and catch up on all the post that I've missed for the past 3 days, 25 pages I think! Hope everyone else is doing well and please don't freak at reading this. My doctor said he only had this happen to one other patient in the past 10+years of banding people.

I am now an official member of the band, WOO-HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

I'm Rain and my husband is Squale. He got banded on 4/3/07 and has been doing phenominally well. He just had his first fill and is losing more and more weight. He's at about 65lbs down. He is awesome.

I'm a stay at home mom with three little girls ages 3, 1.5 and 1.5. They are the love of my life and will be the bane of my lab-band existance..They literally eat ALL DAY LONG... Well, they eat the way they are supposed to, but they eat at slightly different times, so there is a constant meal prep going on.

I used to be a HS English teacher, but am happily spending the days playing with my kids and teaching them everything I can. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to stay home...although we could really use the money!

How are all my fellow bandies? and future bandies? I have a off the wall question for you all.

Do any of you have a Lap Band Doctor you don't like? I havent herd to many people who complain that they dont like there Doctors, but sadly, I cant stand mine. He's arrogant, over confidant, clynical, and has a very take it or leave it attitude.

don't get me wrong, I saw this on my very first visit, He actualy refered to his larger patients as "500 pounders" when I said that I was surprised he was recomending LB for me cause I realy thought I eas too big for LB surgery, he dose both LB and RNY. but I foolishly convinced myself that it was OK because I wanted a compitant doctor regardless of his personality. BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART! He also refered to one of his patients as a "bone head" for eating hotdogs and having problems with vomiting, this was when I asked about my fears of vomiting with the LB.

Every time I go to his office I leave there more mad more Pissed off. I dont as a general rule choose doctors fo my self I dont feel respect me as an informed patient and most importantly wont talk to me as the INDIVIDUAL THAT I AM!

I hate feeling that I'm just another abdomin to this guy, I should have NEVER let him do my surgery!

now I'm stuck with him for the next year for fills and any other issues that may come up with my band. :cry

I had to tell you all about the dream I had last night. First off, for those who didnt get a chance to read my previous thread, I started my clear liquid 2 week pre op diet last Monday. Everything has been fine and I haven't really 'craved' anything or struggled. I have been satisfied with what I am taking in.

Ok, so last night I was dreaming that my husband and I went to this pizza place to order out pizza to bring home. This place has pizza, chicken, chinese, fudge and ice cream. Anyway, they had this what they called bear claw pizza that had 28 slices of pizza in it. HUGE PIZZA!!! DH told me we should just order one of those. He went to look at something else and I ordered one of those plus 3 other large pizza's, an order of family size chicken, some general chicken and fudge. The stuff comes and my bill is $189.00. :hungry:

After I pay for this I start eating bits of everything. As I am dreaming this I kept thinking (while sleeping) 'You are on clear liquids stop eating or you won't be able to have surgery. :omg: My God look how much I am eating.' and I was totaly freaking out. LOL Is that crazy or what?!?! I just had to tell everyone about it because I thought it was hilarious.

On the flip though I am doing fine with the liquids. I haven't eaten..........just dreamt about it. HAHA :rofl:

dmtjet, when you went out for your chili, did you order a water with it???? I went out the other night and when the waitress came to get our drink order, she asks "What can I get you to drink?", and I reply "nothing, thank you", and she started to write on her pad, and looked back at me and replied 'NOTHING", and I repeated, "nothing" and she says, not even water, and I reply, "NO, but thank you" and told her I'd take a french onion Soup.< p>WOW, if it's going to be that hard to not order a drink when I go out, I'd rather waste a glass of water then to go through that again.

I think it's great how dmtjet is so cuddle with her hubby now. I can't get cuddly yet, cause you know where that leads, and I'm just ready to go there yet. Maybe after my Dr. appointment on Tuesday, when the Dr says all is good, then we may try some hanky panky, but I just don't want to screw up something. Any other post ops have any input on this, please, I know it's peronal, but I think my hubby would love to hear some positive responses!

Not a nurse, but my Dr said Immodium was Okay!! I'm 5 days post op and have had it to, I have not taken anything though. Good Luck Danny

I love this website and this thread especially. Everyone here is so wonderful and supportive. But, right now - I'm having nervous jitters. I was supposed to be banded on the 19th, but it was changed to Monday the 16th. I was so thrilled, but right now I'm having a minor anxiety attack.

Lynette, I like your diet plan, very structured, you women are so organized.

About the vacation, I feel the same way you do, don't care when or where, I love cruises, been on at least 10, I personally like the 3-4-5 day ones, usually after that I was getting kind of bored and broke(damn casinos), and a lot of the times its hard for me to get a full week off of work, I build houses, trust me homeowners want to know where there builder is at, AT ALL TIMES!!!!

Renee Marie, I'm 12 days post op and I've been able to bend down comfortable for 2 days or so, still taking it easy though, so by the 11 you should feel fine!!

Danny, glad you're doing so well. Keep it up and those flabs will be abs in not time. BTW, how is your wife?? When is she due again?? Must be exciting to be doing this now for her and 2 little ones.

Hey Lynette, how are you doing? My wife is due Feb. 17th 2008, so excited, she has a lot of gas bubbles, nasuae, I feel so bad for her, in mexico she got plenty of rest, it's kind of funny I think I feel bettet than she does. Women in general are amazing, us guys are the week ones, thats why God chose women for childbirth, because men could not handle it.

Lynette, are you getting hungry at all? Last night, I was starving, so at 11:30 i ate two scrambled eggs, chewed them until they liquified in my mouth, that helped so much. Talk to you later Danny

Hello everyone, its Saturday mid morning, at work again. I'm feeling so good, the port pain is a lot better, and the bloating and soreness is almost gone, I'm down 15 lbs in 4 and a half days(excited). I can't wait for the cruise. Have we decided where and when? Maybe I can turn my flabs into abs(HA, HA).

Hey Danny... thanks for the advice! I am leaving at 5:45 am. I have been told I need to be at the airport 2 hours in advance and I have also been told 3 hours in advance. That means I have to leave either at 3:00am or 2:00 am to get to DFW airport from where I live. Did you have to arrive 2 or 3 hours before your flight!!

Hey Michelle, I left from a tiny reginal airport, I was about an 1hr and 15 min early, when I checked in and went through the security line and still waited for 45 min to board.

But if you are leaving out of Dallas, I would probably be between 2 and a half to 3 hrs. just in case. Remember no liguids on carry ons, not even Water, my wife had to throw away hairspray and hair gel(not to happy with me). Also if you have any liquids they have to be in a quart sized ziplock bag, and no more than 3 or 4 oz.

I want to start out by saying,"I'm not affaliated with ready4achange" , I had my surgery perfomed by Dr. Zapata, Monday, July 9th, 2007. I had a wonderful expierence, It has been 3 and a half days, I'm down 14 lbs., feeling very well.

Everything they said that was going happen, happened. They were on time to pick me up, the hospital was very modern and extremely clean, the hotel was nice and they were very professional. I would highly reccomend them.

Now there are plenty of other Drs. in Mexico, I would say to you(Do your homework), educate yourself, this site has been amazing, I have learned so much from everyones' past expiences. The friends I have made, the support on this site, Don't be afraid to post. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

I had lapband surgery for one main reason(to be healthy), I'm 33 yrs. old, a 120lbs. overweight, and tried every diet plan in America, I needed something more. Hopefully this tool will help me reach my main goal, to be a healthy Father and husband.

I'm a typical man, never thought I needed support, boy oh boy was I wrong, listening to from everyones expierence really opened my outlook on making this descision.
