  1. I haven't been on the board for a while. I too have this problem. It feels really big. My hubby felt it and said he doesn't think it feels normal. I have a drs appt next week and am going to ask him about it. I have a lot of loose skin down in that area and thought maybe that could have something to do with it. If it does...lucky me. I have to have problems pertaining to loose skin for my insurance to cover removal.

  2. I'm down a few sizes in tops, but I still have my flabby belly so i need the larger size to cover it which makes my shoulders too big.....My shorts are about falling off now...but waiting for about 10 more pounds before i go try on new pants. Hoping to go from a tight 22 should be 24 to at least an 18 or 20. And that's after losing 65 pounds.

  3. I'm down about 65 pounds now :) I did find out my insurance will pay for skin removal, although they did not pay for surgery. The rule is 100 pounds off for 6 months and 3" below your girly parts. They say you need to show you had infections etc. I saw my doc yesterday, just to get something documented. I did ask him for some medicated powder...wanted that documented also. Does anyone have anything to add that i should or should not be doing for insurance purposes?

    thanks

    Cindy

  4. I want to add since I have lost this weight, my hubby and I's relation ship is so much better. I knew he loved me, but I think he was a little ashamed of me. He walked in front or behind me, never opened the door etc, but now he's like a new man too. He's lost 10 pounds, he holds my hand, the sex is better, he opens doors for me...it's put the spark back in our marriage. He even tells me how nice I look. I love that!!! He's my 2nd marriage but we've been together for 22 years now. I love that man.

  5. I'm 55 years old. I have been a big girl all of my life. I have lost and gained I bet 1000 pounds over my life time. I'd lose 60 pounds and swear I'd keep it off but then it was back on and more....over and over again. I had read where you had to be 100 pounds over weight so this time when I went back up I looked into it. My parents are 75 and 80 and both big people. they have such a hard time walking and doing anything. I didn't want the end of my life being like that. It's getting close to the hubbies retirement and we both want to live and be healthy and enjoy the rest of our lives.

My friend and I went on a cruise. I needed new clothes and 3x was starting to get too small or 24 jeans too tight. My hubby was shopping with me and he knew how frustrated I was.....that was last March. The beginning of May I called our local hospital and it cost about 22,000...Yikes! I can't afford that and my insurance wouldn't pay. I started doing a little research and it took me to this site, which inturn gave me some other ideas to research. It took about 2 weeks of searching, then I went to hubby and presented him with the info. I made a dr appointment and he gave me his blessing, went home, scheduled the surgery and bought plane tix for 2 weeks, enough time to do a 2 week liquid diet.

I am now down about 60 pounds and am feeling pretty darn good. Off meds :) and am walking every morning....I love this!!!!!

  6. First I told the hubby about it and he supported me 150%....and went with me. I told my 2 girls ages 29 and 32...the 32 year old had a bypass and both kids were on board and trusted that I did the research. I told my very good friends...2 of them had a bypass...they were all cool....they know me and trusted I knew what I was doing. On Facebook i have been posting my weight loss. People were asking how so I pulled up a dr oz clip and put it out there and explained I went to Mexico. Some about crapped a brick. They remember me posting photos of Mexico, but since I am a travel agent they thought I was on another trip. But I have 2 people who wanted information, so if that helped a few people...great. And some thanked me for putting the info out and not hding it. All is good.

  7. As many of you know, I'm a travel agent. I really hated to ask for a seat belt extension and not being able to do much but sit on the beach. I was sleeved at the end of May and today am down 60 pounds.

Well, at 55 pounds lost I went on a cruise. Any of you ever done this? You know all of the food that is served on board...and in ports of call. I was with my hubby and parents...all eaters. I think I did pretty well...seeing there were a million Desserts etc on board.

The first night was bad.....I had a small soft serve icecream cone, then later that evening had a virgin mudslide. Ugh!! My first time having "dumping"!!! needless to say I watched the rest of my trip. My cocktails consisted of watered down cranberry juice in a cute glass with a piece of fruit and straw. The bartenders were pretty cool when I told them I couldn't drink alcohol or soda. They didn't even charge for the juice. I got so tired of iced tea.

Every morning I had a fresh omelet made..well every other...I have to have bran Cereal about every other day to try to stay regular. Breakfast was fine. I always tried to eat a mid morning snack like I do at home, but no cheese sticks or fudgesicles on a ship. I tried to get a fresh fruit cup but man the soft serve icecream machine kept getting in my way. I only had a few, very very small ones. Hubby kept giving me the evil eye.

lunch was usually a yogurt cup and fruit..There was a little cafe onboard that you didn't feel like you had to load your plate at the buffet. dinner was usually a piece of baked chicken or fish. Not really eating any veggies yet, just mostly Protein as I get full really fast. Mid night snack was eating the pepperoni and cheese off a slice of pizza.....or these cute little mini croissant ham and cheese sandwiches. When ever I wanted dessert my hubby split it with me...the pieces are only about a 1 inch square anyway.

The point is, I didn't want to feel deprived. I took a portion of everything I felt I wanted to eat, but by the time I ate my protein there was not much room left for the other things. It was a bummer at the lobster house and getting a whole lobster and only being able to eat the claws....but I survived. My parents looked at me like wth....cuz I'd get full on a few bites. But that's ok, I had lost 55 pounds so far and I was walking the steps.

We took the steps and walked every chance we could. Now, before the sleeve I would've come home with an extra 5 pounds. I wouldn't have walked and taken the elevator. This time I maintained....so proud of myself. But back home for almost a week now and 5 more pounds gone...yippee!!!

Our next trip will be in April. I hope to be down another 30-40 pounds and parasail...that's my gift to myself...something I've always wanted to do.

Anyone else have anything to say about vacations????

  8. Go for it!!! You'll find also loosing weight it gets better and better and better :). My hubby touches me a lot more now, and even puts his arm around me when walking. I knew he always loved me, that's why he was so committed to helping me. And I know I looked a mess....but it's getting good...again! :)

  9. I'm not saying I eat sweats every day. My daughters wedding shower a few weeks ago I had a taste of cake. I'm probably 99.9% good and sticking to it...but I've really learned moderation and I'm not going to let this chance at being a new healthy me self destruct.

  10. I'm going to follow this one as I was going to post the same question. I've used Spanx etc and hate the way they roll down and ride up etc. I've lost 50 pounds but I can't go to lower size pants because this thing hangs and needs covered up. I'm like a 1x in tops at the shoulders but need that 3x to cover it up.

  11. After doing the research I printed out all of the info, drs credentials, everything I could find. He read over and said by all means go for it. He has seen me struggle the last 20 years. He told me to make an appt for 1 month after surgery. When he gave me his blessing I booked it right away, for 2 weeks later, giving me the time to do my preop and get plane tix. When I went back to him after that month, he said he saw me weigh in and was going to look over my shoulder. He was surprised at the weight I had lost since his visit. He checked my wounds and all was good. I was off the sugar meds...and now off my arthritus meds. I had no problems....I can't wait to go back and see him next month. My dr is a big supporter of weight loss and has walking programs for our town. He's got a great sense of humor and he's pretty cool. All is good.

  12. I was looking at apps also, but hubby said here's a nice full lunch for the same price. Good idea about the thermal bag...although today was a spur of the moment.

I have had a few Wendy's chilis...small of course. Burgers just don't sound good. Trying to stay away from bread. And all RL had on the lunch menu was fried fish. Staying away from fried stuff too. Ugh...thought of grease makes me nauseas.

  13. So today we did some shopping for my daughters wedding in 2 weeks. I wanted to wait till the last minute to purchase clothes. Well, I've lost 45 pounds but seems my old clothes are really really loose, but new clothes are the same size :( I'm losing every place but my belly.....tops loose at shoulders but still need the girth around the belly.

Anyway, we stopped at Red Lobster for lunch. Thought lunch would be good, much smaller portions. Got scallops and shrimp, broiled of course. I took 1 very tiny tiny tiny piece of my hubbies biscuit....I don't want to feel deprived of anything. Ate about half the shrimp and scallops, a bite of the roasted squash and was done. Took the rest home and it sat in a hot car for an hour and had to throw it out.

I think next time I will just take a small part of hubbies dinner...it will help him lose also.

Anyone got any good tips and special restaurants they use?
