Lordy! What a massive difference already misty! My hubby said in the early days of our discussion about me having wls that the *real* cost of the sleeve is the medical costs + plastic surgery for the wobbly bits + the frenzy of clothes/shoe shopping afterwards.I told him that the savings in our food bill and arthritis meds would help.He looked unconvinced cos he knows I love to shop.Lol! Seriously tho, I am just assuming I will have to have plastics done to help with the loose skin. Has anyone had problems with fitting regular clothes properly afterwards?

Also a big *hello* to kitikat and lisap. This is a wonderful place to read and/or chat.Everyone here is sooo lovely and full of great tips and support if needed. On a different note I watched liquid snow fall in Canberra today. The sun was shining and the sleet was soft and sparkly. So pretty but still freezing cold.I am going to have to buy more thermals for after the sleeve. Thanks for the heads up about being chilly in Brisbane guys Lol

Can one be allergic to shakes?

Hi! I have also struggled with the protein products. The optifast chicken soup made me very ill.I saw my dietician today. He told me that anyone who is lactose or soy intolerant/allergic can get bad reactions to some of the protein bars and shakes.I have been given a special low carb diet of 'normal' food to use with various low soy (my problem is with soy) optifast and optislim food.Good luck - I hope your Doctor was as helpful as my dietician.

Hi everyone I saw my dietician again today about the horrible side effects of the Optifast Soup.I am intolerant to soy and that particular product is chock full of it! So now I am allowed to use optislim depending on the soy levels. He wants me to aim for one or two opti Meal Replacements a day and gave me a sheet with normal (but small amounts) foods to eat preop.Worse case I can drop all the opti if needed as long as I use the special diet. Apparantly anyone with soy or lactose intolerances/allergies can get quite sick on the opti stuff. Sending all my support to all of us who are on preop and liquid diets atm.We *can* do this!

Hi brendani. We will be sleeved in the same week.I am booked July 3rd and-like you- am waiting on a "just in case" endoscopy. I have started using Protein Bars for Snacks and trying out the optislim shakes and soups.Thought it would be good to get into the mindset as this will be the last diet *ever* once my tummy has healed.Yay!
