  1. Thanks gals. Guess I'm just one of those paranoid types that doesn't want to go through all that for them to tell me: Nothing's wrong.
  2. They did lab work and a CT with contrast at the Dr office. Can't rule out a leak or stricture so I'll be spending my night at the hospital for IVs for dehydration and further testing including an upper GI scope. Pray for me please sleeve friends.
  3. Ruled out a leak. Looking like possibly a stricture. Find out more in the am. Thank you friends for your thoughts and prayers! They are so much appreciated.
  4. Pain with every sip or attempt at consuming anything. Vomiting everyday since surgery.

    Before and after

I'm with Momo. I want the scoop. You look amazing. Right now I'm just over a week out and having a really tough time. Your pictures make me smile and inspire me not to regret. Thank you!
  8. I am with you Amy. This has definitely not been a cake walk. I was sleeved a week ago and having a heck of a time with pain, nausea and not being able to keep anything down. Here's to certainly hoping it gets better & soon!
  9. I just wanted to say that I think Dr. Schram is an amazing surgeon and if you are considering the sleeve and you live on the west side of Michigan consider him. He is prompt, responsive, kind and professional. He prayed with me before surgery and followed up with me twice a day each day I was in the hospital. He definitely supported me going home when I felt ready which is a nice change from other surgeries I've had where it seemed they couldn't get you out fast enough. Himself and the PA both reassured me that if I need anything any hour of the day just to give them a call. The hospital itself was nice, newer in construction with a great complement of staff. The woman who registered me had gotten the sleeve two years ago and couldn't be happier. She even shared her before and after pics. That was just the type of person I wanted to meet while registering for this major surgery. Nurses were so kind calm and patient even though I had terrible nausea and pain they consistently tried to find different ways to help me. Please note that I am not related to any of these individuals. I'm a teacher that lives about an hour and a half away and I just feel so grateful that I had such a great experience.

    Need some encouragment

Hi Shannon. My name is Megan and I'm 30 years old. I just had my sleeve done this past Monday after struggling with my weight my whole life. I contemplated weightloss surgery for a couple of years first thinking the band and then after enough research and reading I decided on the sleeve. The surgery itself wasn't bad. They found a hernia and repaired it at the same time. My biggest struggle thus far has been with nausea but each day is better then the one before. I can't wait to feel well enough to work out and accelerate the weightloss. One day I'd like to have children of my own and I feel confident that the sleeve will assist me in getting in the shape I want to be when I have children so that I can be very active in their lives. I wish you all the best of luck with your decision.

    Out of work

My surgeon has recommended 2-4 weeks but unfortunately the timing is bad at work and I'm only going to be off a week. We'll see.
  12. Like I've told others... I was born weighing 9 lbs 6 oz and been heavy since. I was the kid the other kids called "earthquake" throughout elementary school and then the kid they always had to order bigger band uniforms for and finally after losing 50 lbs then gaining back 65 lbs then losing those just to gain back 100 all in the last decade I've decided to be sleeved.

    Hiccups...very painful...

I'm sad that no one has responded to your post as I am now postop as well and experiencing the same thing. Not sure if I should chalk up the hiccups to the hernia they repaired or my new tummy telling me its full or in pain. I don't know...

    This is it friends!

Thank you. Recovery has certainly been rough so far. The nausea is horrendous! I'm hoping tomorrow is better.
  15. I am in route to the hospital. My journey began 7 months ago and today is the day! Please say a quick prayer for me. Surgery is at 9:00.
  16. I am tomorrow too! Best of luck to you and at this time tomorrow it will all be but a memory!
  17. That's a great question. I can tell you that I started my journey January 20th of this year and my excitement grew throughout the 6 months until my July 2nd surgery date was cancelled 2 days before due to insurance complications. After that I went through a couple of weeks of a loss of excitement because I had been so excited and so ready and then let down hard. But.... Now that the insurance mess is cleared up and I have a new scheduled date of July 29th (a week away!) my excitement has sky rocketed again!

    July 2013 sleevers

Hi K. Thanks for letting us know how you are. I really hope the pain subsides so that you may get the rest that you need. Best wishes and hopefully tomorrow will be a great new day!
  21. I'm going to be either July 29th or July 31st. I won't know for sure till my last dr appt on July 19th. I can't wait. I was originally supposed to be today but I found out at the last minute that there was an insurance snafu and I had to wait until the end of the month for them to pay. It was a huge let down to say the least but I find that everything happens for a reason.

    Sad Day: 4 Week Delay

Thanks for the support. The insurance thing is goofy. My 1st appt was January 20th. Then I went back each month around the 20th as part of my medically supervised diet requirement. Then everything seemed good to go after my June 30th appt. when the paperwork was submitted the insurance company denied it saying they require 180 days so they count month 1 as January 20th-February 20th, month 2 as February 20th-March 20th, etc. making it so that I need to go back for an appt July 20th to qualify. I am definitely getting tired of jumping through hoops. It'll be worth it in the end though!
  23. Surgery was supposed to be this coming Tuesday and the dreaded phone call came today. Postponed till July 28th due to insurance complications. My whole life was rearranged for this week. I had dog boarding booked, my mom was in town from out of state, significant other got off of work and I had a substitute teacher booked for work. Ugh!
