    Flying home after surgery

I'm not worried about the 40 minute layover anymore. I made it around a traffic circle in TJ and that makes NYC look like cake. For me, I haven't eaten now for 11 days (high BMI, this is my 11th day on liquids, 5th post op) and I've farted only 3 times but burp almost anytime I sip or move around a lot. Silent though and minimal pain.

    Dr. Garcia vs. Dr. Aceves?

Dr Garcia operates at Florence/Oasis correct? That is a very nice hospital. Being a medical professional and working in the states I just don't understand why some think this hospital is sub par? Regardless of surgeon or hospital I wouldn't want to stay in the hospital more than 2 days. I didn't even stay in the hospital more than 2 days with my csection. Nice hospital but by day 2 I was ready to get the IV out and explore TJ a bit (it's safe, even a big baby like me felt safe). Good luck with whomever you choose!
  3. Me, Dr Kelly and my mother after my leak test at Angeles. He and his wife are both very warm, huggy people. A lot of Drs in the states barely touch you but they are the type to naturally put their arm on your shoulder and talk to you close together. I love that. It tells me a lot about a health care practitioner or person in general.

    Passport?

I'll be crossing with my federal gold star drivers license and birth certificate tomorrow. I'll let you all know if they let me back in
  5. I think my stomach is still numb. I'm not hungry at all but my body tells me I must have calories. I just decided to eat some sugar-full jello (can't have aspartame) and after eating 3/5 of it I experienced productive burping. Oh joy.
  6. Thank you! I just want people to not be afraid regardless of what experienced surgeon you use. I was very, very afraid of everything from the flight, anesthesia, hospital, surgery, hotel, Tijuana.....you name it I was scared! I want to sing from the mountain tops!! I want to help others.
  7. Ok thanks! I will stick to the guidelines! It's not been 72 hours yet.
  8. You can also go to FACS, American College of Bariatrics etc online to check memberships. http://web2.facs.org/acsdir/public/DetailMember.cfm?CHKDGTS=70304750667 http://web2.facs.org/acsdir/public/DetailMember.cfm?CHKDGTS=18700144761 Examples.

    Dr. Garcia / Ready 4 A Change

Not the same Dr but the same hospital here. Excellence! I felt safe with my belongings at all times and the free WiFi was awesome.
  10. No, because I checked myself before going into surgery. I can fax you a copy of my type/cross and too bad I didn't take pics of the blood. Florence/Oasis of Hope is a decent size hospital even by US standards. It's world famous for its late stage cancer treatment. Not large, but it would definitely pass JCAHO from the 2 days I've seen it. I don't mean to come across as a crabby pants, and I'm likely passionate for reasons other than you think. I deliver babies for a living. I'm still very new and so far so great, but statistically one day something is going to happen that won't be great and will be out of my hands. I am glad I won't have an agency saying I'm on drugs ect. My fellow midwives aren't lying in wait to smear my name when I have only done my best. I'm also concerned that you think you can find deaths in Mexico with each surgeon, you can't in Mexico or in the states. That database just isn't available. The fact he still has his FACS and American College of Bariatrics designations speak volumes. Anyway, I'm done. Bash the original poster? I never did. I said the person who dug this up from 2 years ago has a vendetta....I never said ANYTHING about the original poster. I also haven't put ANY surgeon down. If we all choose the same surgeon we'd not have the ease of scheduling I enjoyed with any of them. The head/booty was intended to be a joke. I know, it's hard to tell a joke in text writing. BUT if you still believe any surgeon has done thousands of Bariatric procedures and never lost a patient, well yes, you should probably contact a coordinator promptly for it's removal You all have a blessed day!
  11. I am in love with it. I'm pretty much in love with TJ in general, I think I'll retire here in 20 or 30 years
  12. $750 for 2 tickets Southwest PIT to SD. That included early bird check in and 2 bags checked for free.

    Seat belt extenders on plane

Oh goodness sakes. I fly them home on Friday. Prayers please
  14. First, I'm not defensive for Dr Kelly, I'm defensive against total ignorance. I don't feel emotional toward my surgeon. We have not bonded in the 5 times we have met. Heck, in all honestly I'm not even "out of the woods" being 3 days preop. I could go home and find out my kidney was harvested and sold (JK!). I find it amazing that everyone here truly believes they know of every Bariatric surgery death that has happened in Mexico......all because a coordinator told you so. Cracks.me.up. And no I don't work for any doctors. I'm a midwife in OH/WV/PA. florence does have a blood bank and ICU. I was typed and blood was available for me before surgery and I made DARN sure of that. I have extensive experience in the medical field and wouldn't go to anything but a hospital for surgery. Obviously someone with a vendetta dug this thread up after 2 years. Dr Kelly had a death. We've heard. Guess what, if ANY surgeon operates in the thousands of obese patients they've had deaths too. It's statistically impossible that Dr Kelly, Dr Aceves, Dr Garcia etc haven't all had more than one death. Get your head out of your booty.

A Lighter Me Dr. A. Lopez?

Oh, and if you like the coordinator and trust them is a huge deal. I watched a fellow patient totally get screwed over by a coordinating agency regarding her hotel while I was being discharged.

A Lighter Me Dr. A. Lopez?

I'm not defensive of Dr Kelly, but I don't think someone should randomly be allowed to accuse anyone of being on drugs without solid proof. It severely compromises the integrity of these forums.
  17. And this is my mom eating shrimp tacos at the Lucerna while I enjoyed the homemade broth. It is definitely homemade. I feel free from food prison, it really didn't bother me!
  18. Big clean bathroom with very large shower. Good for big people
  19. This is the marble lobby. The cafeteria view actually. The hospital reminds me of a tropical 3 star married a small time hospital
  20. Thank you! It's freakin comfy too Here is your support person's bed. It's actually quite big and the drawers are filled with blankets and pillows. The rooms are big.
  21. Right before surgery, super terrified. Comfy hospital bed!
  22. Ok it did, this is me 46ish hours after. Are we allowed to embed photos?
  23. Maybe you can't see them because I linked them from my iPhone? Calling all tech people lol. I'll be honest, when I first woke up the nausea was overwhelming. I didn't even ask for pain medicine until the next day, just lots of Zofran. I can't believe how well I feel 3 days after surgery. Day 1 was like what have I done. Day 2 was like hey it's not so bad and day 3 I'm wanting to fly home to my kiddos. I'm certainly enjoying the hotel though! Wait, technically it's only been 48 hours....I came out Monday about this time
  24. Good job digging up a 2 year old thread to worry people. Dr Aceves was on my short list but I didn't come up with one reason to spend the extra when Dr Kelly has more experience with sleeves. Here's my happy album, I'm 3 days post op with Dr Kelly and super happy! http://i1277.photobucket.com/albums/y488/gibson_girl1/null_zpse2e5925a.jpg http://i1277.photobucket.com/albums/y488/gibson_girl1/null_zps0a473602.jpg http://i1277.photobucket.com/albums/y488/gibson_girl1/null_zps68bbc03c.jpg http://i1277.photobucket.com/albums/y488/gibson_girl1/null_zps4b476e83.jpg http://i1277.photobucket.com/albums/y488/gibson_girl1/null_zpsa84d8e37.jpg http://i1277.photobucket.com/albums/y488/gibson_girl1/null_zps4777e3d3.jpg
