Who Are The Best Gastric Sleeve Surgeons In Mexico ? Decisions Decisions!
gibson_girl replied to Hoping2BSleeved's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I looked through all the surgeons and my list was shorter than yours. My top 2 picks were Dr Aceves and Dr Illan. I picked Dr Illan because he has as much or more experience, I got to stay 2 days in the hospital and 2 days in a 5 star hotel (if you book directly through the Dr, otherwise the hotel is subject to change according to the girl across the hall from me who was ticked at Mexico Bariatrics). I only spent 2 days in the hospital for my csection which was WAY worse and knew I didn't want to be there for longer than I had to (worked in hospitals for years, just not my preference). I knew his entire training was in the States and he also did a transplant residency before falling in love with Bariatrics. It's proven that surgical complications go down with the number of surgeries your surgeon has performed. Dr Kelly has done around 7,000. The fact that he charges 3k less was icing on the cake. The hospital was very nice. It had 3 parts, the smaller main part and 2 large towers. It is as large or larger than the hospital in my small town. It would pass hospital standards in the US. It's mainly a cancer hospital people come to from all over the world, but you'll be in the Bariatric section. I would have been comfortable with either Dr. I too would not have surgery in a strip mall or stand alone clinic. Good luck with whomever you choose! -

Oh you sure aren't. I second guessed myself up until the anesthesiologist said ok ok bye by A week post op tomorrow and I can barely tell I had surgery. Seriously, calm yourself. I wish I had Here is a picture of Cecy, Dr Kelly's wife (who will take you to/from airport, hospital, hotel Eric) and my mother. My mom is a breast cancer survivor and Cecy picked us up an hour early for the airport so she could take us to the cancer survivors park by the airport as a surprise. She is an absolute doll. -

Tummy Tuck in Mexico...Any recommendations?
gibson_girl replied to scubadottie's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Oh, he did my friend's tummy tuck and I have never seen better work (I've seen a few). I've not seen a breast lift he has done but I have seen some augmentations he has done which were nice. -
Tummy Tuck in Mexico...Any recommendations?
gibson_girl replied to scubadottie's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
If anyone wants to travel to the Ohio Valley you can get those same prices with Dr Mueller in Wheeling,WV. He is a very experienced and respected surgeon and his specialties are tummy tucks and thigh lifts. I was quoted 3500 without hospital and the very, very nice hospital and anesthesia puts it about 5500. I have not seen lower in TJ and this surgeon is amazing. -
Airfare prices to San diego airport!?

Where do you live Marie?? -
Oops, the point of my post directly booking with Dr Kelly is that if you book through an agency sometimes they put you in this eh-ok hotel with nothing around you. I met a patient who told me all about their stay. They weren't disappointed with the Dr at all (loved him), just the agency hotel. You do save an extra 300 booking through the agency which I originally considered but super glad I didn't.

I was sleeved by Dr Kelly. If you book with him directly (Lora) you get to stay in a beautiful 5 star hotel for 2 days and I felt very safe walking around! While I was an inpatient at Florence/Oasis my mom walked all around and even went to the market. She said the whole experience was like a vacation. Before going to TJ I imagine it would be scary, now I told my husband I want to move there lol!

Flying home after surgery
gibson_girl replied to Kristen125's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
On my last leg of my flight of Southwest I found out it was overbooked. I got a medical pass for boarding since I was post op so I didn't get bumped but I was terrified I wouldn't fit right. I sat by the window and kinda tilted my body to snuggle with the window lol. My normal mother sat very comfortably in the middle seat. The only issue would have been if I would have needed to get up and walk around but it was BWI to PIT so only like 40 min. I did need a seat belt extender on every leg but the stewardesses were so nice about it. There was a gentleman that I'm guessing weighed 100lb more than me and he didn't need one so its all it how you are built. It wasn't hard to travel at all though! The flight back was no worse than the flight there. I was not sore or slow. -

So funny, right before I went into surgery I was like, oh wait, what is and he smiled real big and said 36. He read my mind lol ( or most likely that's a really common preop question lol).

I was so nervous about everything. I think every day was a new reason for panic lol. I'm day 6 post op and feel great!!!! I only ate 400 calories today and I'm going to try to make it up by drinking juice over the next few hours (I took a 5 hour nap lol) and get to 600. It's a crazy feeling. That would have been half my midnight snack pre op! -
Very thirsty. I can drink more than normal?
gibson_girl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to drink 6 oz per hour. I could easily and want to drink more. Is it dangerous to drink too much water? -

Dr. Kelly No Longer Working With Alightme- Safety Concerns Or Simply Business Issues?
gibson_girl replied to sirensiren's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
And one of the patients that I met who was very satisfied when we were being discharged told me how she had been totally terrorized by a patient of another Drs at the Marriott the night before her surgery telling her horrid things about Dr Kelly like in this thread (drugs etc).....which of course the patient's coordinators told that patient. She was so scared she almost didn't go through with the surgery. I know the coordinators read this board. Money isn't everything. Here is something to ponder: Proverbs 19:5 A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who speaks lies will not escape. -
Dr. Kelly No Longer Working With Alightme- Safety Concerns Or Simply Business Issues?
gibson_girl replied to sirensiren's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I totally agree Salsha. To have my surgeon and his wife pick me up to take me to the hotel, knowing how busy they are (even with the bad mouthing I know he does 3 a day, I met other patients at the hospital) and to have his wife pick me up an hour early for the airport to take us to the Cancer Survivor's park knowing my mom (she was with me) is a breast cancer survivor brought tears to my eyes. I don't think you can get more genuine. He was there during my leak test, and when I swallowed the clear disgusting stuff as soon as he saw no leaks he came running over with juice so I could hurry and get the taste out of mouth. Sometimes it's the little things.....oh and the really big things like 7,000 surgeries I'm officially partial lol, but for good reason. -
Weight gain in the first week post op.
gibson_girl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, at my highest I was 362. The day I left for TJ after all my preop diet I was 348. Now, 3-5 days post op I weight 356. Someone tell me it's swelling because I am not eating/drinking too much. 600 cals per day compared to 5000 before my preop diet. -
