  1. Hope you're having a better day today, Joyross! It will get better, especially when you get to "mushies". Hang in there. You can do this! I agree with whomever it was that said even the things you didn't used to like will taste good... like the yogurt. It's all worth it. "Bandster Hell" is not fun, but short-lived, I promise!! God Bless!!
  2. Thank you, thank you!! We're all royalty here!! We've taken control of our lives and we're REIGNING OVER our OLD BAD EATING HABITS!!!
  3. Yeah, that phrase "did it all on her own" irks me, too! Don't know if I want to watch that Oprah show or not! I'm kind of pissed at one of the TOPS rules in that regard, as well. If you've had WLS, TOPS puts you in a special division. That's fine... so you "compete", so to speak, with others who have had WLS, both bypass and lapband. BUT... that division is not eligible for what they call "Royalty". Each year, the person who has lost the most weight in their division for their chapter, state, national, win the title of "King" for the men, "Queen" for the women. So, if you have had WLS, you can't compete for those titles. I'd never lose enough to qualify, so that's not the point, it's just the principle of the thing that is annoying. I don't imagine anyone who has had lapband could "win" because you'd be competing with people who have had bypass. No contest. They lose faster. Anyways, I guess I'll quit rambling. Yeah, I haven't been able to do malls without my scooter for a long time. Walking is definitely getting easier, though. Partial replacement in the right knee, but when we go back home, hope to have the left one fixed. No, you didn't go overboard!! That's GREAT!! Congratulations!! I will be very happy, also, when I am no longer MORBIDLY OBESE!! What an awful distinction that is!!
  4. We're here for you, Steph. You can vent any time you need to!! I'm way past teenagers and toddlers, but I still remember quite vividly!! I did have one kid who refused to be potty trained at 3 1/2 also... and had two others in diapers at that time and a husband in Viet Nam!! So, see, I completely understand! And we had one year when all four were teenagers at the same time!! That's about the time I decided I better quit working for a while!! They needed my undivided attention! So, hang in there, kid!! This too shall pass, as they say! My DH measures and weighs ALL my food!! In some ways I appreciate it, but usually it just really pisses me off. Yesterday I wanted a snack during the Super Bowl. I have baked chips and baked "Scoops". Well, he started to weigh me out 1/2 oz of the chips when he remembers that he ate all the dip so there's nothing to go with the chips. So I said, fine, I'll have some salsa and scoops.. nothing left but crumbs. So he gave me 1/2 oz of Scoops crumbs and salsa and a spoon to eat it with!! And on those days when the scale goes up, if I make the mistake of telling him that, he tells me exactly what I did wrong to make that happen. Grrrrrr!!
  5. I'm with you, Mango!! That was one of the best SuperBowls EVER!! Fantastic!! And I was sitting here in the RV with THREE people who were rooting for NE!! It was great!
  6. Old Broad, indeed! You're just a baby! One Hot Grandma! Hey, I gotta tell you.. going to church the last few weeks has been a real upper! Last week it was the ladies that had started noticing my weight loss, this week... FOUR men, including our chaplain (who is a fellow TOPS member), an usher and a greeter and another guy all telling me I'm looking good. Nice to have people noticing. And, I'm proud of myself because I was up helping to move chairs and helping to get set up for our after church potluck instead of sitting and watching. So I signed us up to be in charge of set up one Sunday next month. I've let myself get in the habit of being so sedentary!! So... making a real effort to get up and MOVE!!
  7. Shake your booty, girl!! You look great!! Amazing difference, and your face... you don't look like the same person!
  8. Wow!! That's great, Karri!! Congrats! She said she was going shopping today, but unusual for her not to check in by now!! Who gave her a TWO DAY gate pass???!! Will have to call her if we don't here from her tomorrow! Yeah, I've taken things to a consignment shop before. You don't get a lot, but something back for your investment. And, the place I went to, if they didn't sell your stuff, you could either pick it up again or they would donate it and give you a receipt. My DIL sells a lot of stuff that the grandkids outgrow on eBay, which is another option.
  9. Hmm.... that's a tough one! It would be exciting to see the Pats make it 19-0, but might have to root for the underdogs, NY... Also, I'm a native New Yorker (Buffalo). DH might be rooting for Nebraska... he can't seem to get it that "NE" means New England and not Nebraska!! He watches football with me, but, obviously, he's not a big fan!! Hey! Where'd you get that neat blinking banner?? Very cool!
  10. Good Morning, Chuck! You've come to the right place for education, support, encouragement, etc. This is a great site. I know there are other "bandsters" in your area. You might also check the Yahoo group, SmartBandsters@Yahoo.com. I know there is a PNW bandster group there, too. There are a lot of emails that come through, so my suggestion, if you decide to sign up, is to check the option for "daily digests", rather than get the individual emails. Also, there is a thread on this site for those of us who are 60+. It's titled "New 60+ Thread". Something else you might want to consider. Feb 15-17 there is a conference at the Seattle Airport Marriott called "Seattle Splash". I think it is $150 for the whole weekend and it includes a couple of meals. There will be doctors, and other professionsals as well as lots of "bandsters". I live in Everett and if I were home, I would definitely be there. We are "Snowbirds" spending the winter in So CA. Sounds informative and fun. They have a website: 6th Annual Seattle Bandster Bash and Splash What is PB? Productive Burp... something that's never happened to me and I've been banded 6+ months, but it occurs when you eat too much, too fast, etc. Apparently, not the same as vomiting.. food just kind of pops out. Not fun, they say! Especially in public! But so far I've managed to avoid doing that. Your screen name... are you a Ham radio guy?? I have my license and a great little Yaesu handheld radio, but rarely use it. I need some coaching in how to use the radio... it's been so long. Last fall my son-in-law programmed all the Seattle area repeaters in it for me, but now I'm in the Palm Springs area. Maybe when we get home, I'll start using it again.
  11. CONGRATULATIONS!! That is great! And what a great find that thrift shop is!! And when those clothes get too big, you can take them back and sell them back! They probably take clothes in on consignment.
  12. Haven't heard about them until today, so haven't tried them, but tempted to order some. I have tried rice noodles and they were pretty good. When I'm craving spaghetti... we have the sauce over french style green Beans, but real noodles would be better and you can't beat 0 calories!
  13. eShop For The Miracle Shirataki Noodle Forgot where I heard about this site, but... Japanese noodles, 0 calories.
  14. Do you think anyone but Ellen would buy one???
  15. Come back and tell us what happened!!?? And, someone please tell me what King Cake is??!!
  16. You may be forced to invest in a snowmobile!!
  17. Our youngest son is down there on a painting job (locomotives). I sure hope his boss keeps him reigned in.. he has a history of being a party animal and he's been doing so well! I forgot about Mardi Gras!!
  18.  UH-OH....FIGHT!!!
  19. Thanks! I am always changing my hairstyle!! I have it spiked now!! Well, I COULD drive that RV if I were allowed to! DH is a control freak. I had to drive it for... maybe 30 yards once last year. I couldn't convince him that he was blocking a driveway when we were at a truck stop and he went inside to pay for our gas. So, within a few minutes, I was trying to find the extra keys so I could move it out of the way. I'd be perfectly comfortable driving it if he'd let me! I told him he needs to let me get some practice. What if we wake up one morning and he's too sick to drive and we HAVE TO move on?? Congrats, Kentucky!! That's great news.
  20. Hope the cottage cheese cooperated! Enjoy your nice long weekend! Congrats on meeting your exercise challenge! I haven't made one yet! Hope everything goes well with your fill today!
  21. I GOT IT!! Funny!! Hope the snow doesn't stop you tomorrow!!
  22. Thanks for the compliments!! Feeling better. A long way to go yet, but making progress and it's exciting! Yes, that's our RV. We've been RVing for 8-9 years now. First, just weekends and vacations, but we've been retired for almost 5 years and the trips have gotten longer and longer. This trip we left home Nov. 1st & expect to be back home about April 15ish. If your hubby wants to give it a try, rent one for a week or so & see how you like it. Believe me, this is not "roughing it"!! We're spending the winter in Desert Hot Springs CA, near Palm Springs. No bugs here! Road runners and hummingbirds! RV parks these days have wi-fi, cable, etc. We even have a phone installed when we're going to be in the same place for several months. This park we've stayed in for the past three winters has pools/spas fed from underground hot springs. So even on chilly days (like 45 deg this a..m.), we're still in the pool! This is a Christian park with a great chapel program... 2 services on Sunday mornings Jan-Mar, 4 day Bible Conference coming up next week with special speaker, several mission trips to Mexico each winter, lots of good entertainment including several gospel groups. But even before we discovered this place, we very much enjoyed the whole RV thing.
