Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Good Morning to you, too, and all our band buddies! It IS a beautiful morning, but a little chilly. We're off to the pool soon, however. No wind, so it should be tolerable! So glad you are able to get some food down now! And your morning coffee!! That's important!! I still have vivid memories of my "caffeine" experience at the time of surgery and it was not fun! First dietician told me NO CAFFEINE! So I was drinking decaf for about FOUR WEEKS!! It was awful! Then at my first post-op appt I asked the PA if I could ever have caffeine again & she says "who told you no caffeine?? That's not the doctor's policy!" I was ready to go fiind that dietician and strangle her!! I just have one cup each morning, but it's ESSENTIAL! Noticed your ticker this morning.... 70 LB!! Congrats!! That's GREAT!!

Yes, I started out as LPN, then went back & got my Assoc Deg/RN ten years later. Did a lot of private duty care in the 80's up in WA state. Last job was pre-cert at two different insurance companies. Prudential sold their healthcare business to Aetna in 1999 and within 6 months they'd eliminated 13 LPN/RN jobs in our office including mine. Knees were too bad to do floor work any more, pre-cert jobs were going to non-licensed people. I ended up on disability. You're a trooper to still be doing that kind of work! Tough stuff.

So, did the yogurt go down okay?? How about dinner?? More soup??? Someone just posted a really good sounding recipe for a veggie/cheese soup. It has Velveeta in it, though. Wonder about the calories. Probably could use shredded 2% or something... cheddar, maybe mozarella. Think I might try it even though I'm not on soft/mushie, etc.. .right now. Weigh in this morning...down 1.6 lb. Not great, but better than the .2 lb last week and the .4 or whatever it was the week before. I think that makes somewhere around 5 lb this month. Seem to be pretty tight the last couple of days. Next week we're going to switch to the night time group that meets here.. the new one.

Not fair... schools closed and you still had to go to work!! I grew up in Buffalo NY, so once when there was a big snowstorm in Oklahoma City, I was one of only two people who made it to work that day. I was working as Pre-cert nurse for Prudential Insurance at the time in an office of about 50 people. Everyone got paid that day but we were the only two who actually worked!! We didn't complain. But probably about six weeks later, we both got a bonus check for "overtime" for that day. No one knows how to drive in ice and snow in OK and they are all wimps when a few snow flakes fly!! Sorry you had to reschedule your appt!! Unfortunately, the wind is howling here again, so you may get more nasty weather when this front makes its way east!!

Any one in NW WA
Delete the ticker you have now. Go back to the tickerfactory site and redo the ticker. Then copy/paste the bbc code, works better than the html. Make sure you have a password. Then every time you go back and update your weight, it will automatically update your signature without you doing anything.

For heaven's sake!! Have the gravy!! It's your BIRTHDAY!! Your calorie count is pretty okay, especially on your birthday! Stop feeling guilty about it!! Yeah, wonder where everyone is tonight!?? I have progressive lenses... didn't have any trouble adjusting, but DH could not handle them... same complaints as yours. Give it some time, but you might not be able to wear them.

Oh, boy!! Well we're getting really fierce wind this afternoon. Hope that doesn't get to you, too! Everything outside is blowing away. :tt1: A snowmobile ride to Madison doesn't sound like fun!! But if you're desparate!! I was thinking of flying home to Seattle for a fill, but now the scale is moving again so maybe I will just wait until we get home in the spring.

And there are other ways to satisfy your pizza craving... be creative. My Another pizza idea: DH is trying to lose some weight, too, so he just made himself some "pizza" for lunch. He used a slice of 45 calorie Sara Lee bread, toasted it, put some pizza sauce on it, a few pieces of diced ham, shredded some mozarella cheese on top and stuck it in the oven long enough to melt the cheese. He let me have a little triangle...three bites, and it was very good.

You will probably want to avoid doughy pizza, but an occassional splurge with a thin crust might be okay. We once in a while will get a Domino's thin crust. Just don't go overboard with the pepperoni and cheese.... have lots of veggies on it.

I don't know about Wisconsin right now, but it was mighty cold there the other day!! And it's not all that great here in the So Cal desert, either!! About 50 this morning but the wind is so mean. It's cloudy and very windy and it rained from Saturday night until Sunday night. Not the kind of winter we've experienced the past few years!

I have no idea and I don't want to know. But, Uncle Ed was divorced and didn't date or anything for 32 years, so who knows!! He may be trying to make up for lost time! I do know that 10 years ago they were caught more than once with rumpled clothes and messed up hair!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

2008--- I bet that's it!!! You hit the nail on the head!! But 2009 is a long way off!! That's a lot of HIVES!! Yeah, Uncle Ed is a hoot alright!! Isn't it convenient... he's my Dad's brother so has the same last name as my Mom... they try to pass themselves off as married. It's so annoying. I have, however, on a number of occasions, been gracious enough to thank him for taking such good care of my Mom.

You betcha!! And how do you like those pants???? Age is just a number! I'm still a teenager at heart!! Got my hair punked again last week, too!! LOL  Thanks for the compliment! I dressed up in bright pink for church this morning and I got so many compliments! And a few who know about my surgery wanted to know how much I'm down now. It was great encouragement!

So sorry you're feeling sad about your Dad today. Mine died in Dec 95' and now my Mom is, hmmmm, do I have to say "shacked up" (at 86 yrs old) with his younger brother, my uncle Ed.. and he is a super colossal jerk with a capital J!! My three sisters and I can't stand him. My Dad never got along with him and he's probably turned over in his grave multiple times over this! Every time I go home to visit Mom I end up in a fight with UNCLE ED!! Grrrrr! Two of my sisters still live there so they have to put up with him all the time. It's gotten so bad that my Mom has to have one of my sisters take her over to see my Aunt Genny, who is so sick with cancer now, because Aunt Genny can't stand the sight of him. Family!! Ain't it fun!

We did have a GREAT time and I'm so glad because her DH is such a jerk. I don't think he even bought her a birthday present. And at the tram, just before you board, they pose you for a photo.. cruise ship style, and she said several times "put your arm around me" and the J...A.. wouldn't and had to be coaxed by the photographer to stand closer to her. Grrrrr. Yes, I'm proud of those jeans!! I did walk some, but not too much. We were at the street fair about three hours and it's all spread out, so no way. And at the tram, once we got up there we were up & down & up & down the elevator I don't know how many times... There were gift shops to see and we went out on the observation deck to look at the view, etc. But, out and about and having fun is good... much more exercise than sitting in the RV in front of the TV which is probably what I"m going to be doing today because it won't stop raining!! Weird winter weather in the desert this year, eh Janet???? IndioGirl.... where are you???

- Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
The stuff I get is Spring Valley and it's B-Complex +B-12 Sublingual, but it's a liquid. You let it sit there under your tongue for 30 seconds and then you can swallow it. The bottle I have now is from Wal-Mart but I've bought it at Target, too, and I think it's the same brand name there. I just can't get those B-Complex capsules down and if I do, they keep repeating on me and make me sick to my stomach. I much prefer this sublingual liquid. - Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
