Yeah, I think I can do that. I have to. The whole neighborhood is watching and waiting! Earl already cut my wine. No more refills of my little glass. Of course, tonight we have that birthday party next door, so there might be an exception to the rule! We'll see. Still couldn't get my rings back on last night! Well, time to get to water aerobics. Later. HEY.... where's Karri??? Anyone heard from her??

Hi, Internet comes and goes! It's a struggle doing anything. Been on now for maybe an hour so I'm doing whatever I can. Congrats, Steph, on the scale moving today!! Very nice!! TWO POUNDS TO GO!! WTG!! I wasn't so lucky this week. I was up 1 lb! How will I ever get to that magic 100 lb loss at this rate! Not to make excuses, but had to take my wedding rings off last night because they were so tight they were hurting. So may be retaining some fluid this week. My own fault, probably, as I fixed something for dinner the other night that had a can of soup plus a package of dried onion soup mix... probably too much sodium for me! Anyways, there's always next week. I've told too many people about my impending 100 lb loss and my diamond earrings that are waiting for me to lose those last few pounds. So now I have a cheering section waiting and watching. There's good and bad in that... the accountability is motivating, but the pressure is uncomfortable! Birthday party for the neighbor tomorrow night and they'll all be watching what I eat and drink!!:tt1::rolleyes2:

Hi, Pati, WHOA!! We have a whole new look here! I think I like it! Sounds like your appt went very well! Congrats on the weight loss. That is very good this early. I don't remember how much I lost before my first fill. Good for you going to the pool. We are doing water aerobics Mon-Fri and I really enjoy it. Exercise makes a big difference!

Hi, Can't say I experienced any of that, but could be any of several things.. I guess my first guess would be hormones. But, maybe a sense of grief over things lost... readjusting of food habits, what you can eat vs. what your family is eating, etc. Are you attending a support group where you can discuss these feelings?? Or have a prayer support team?? You need to find a safe place where you can explore these feelings and get some encouragement and support to help you through. God Bless!! We all need to keep you in our prayers while you are going through this adjustment phase!

WOW! Marivali! So good to have you check back with us again! I looked at some of your photos. Very nice. Too bad you couldn't join us at Mall of America in July... sounds like you were in Phoenix just prior to that! SF flower photos are beautiful. Nice photo of you & DH, too! I loved the wedding & vow renewal photos! Do you have any photos of your jewelry online?? I'm really into earrings these days! Isn't it great to be in these smaller sizes???!! Today I wore an 18/20 shirt! It's wonderful!! I can wear an XL in some knit shirts and that is unbelievable to me! I have to restrain myself or we'd be having to buy a shed or something to put on our RV site to hold all my clothes!

You're doing GREAT!! That's an impressive weight loss in such a short time!! It's taken me over a year to get to 100 lb and I'm still about 5 lb away. You have to plan a special reward to celebrate 100 lb!! I bought a pair of diamond stud earrings, 14k gold, but I'm not wearing them until I get that other 5 lb off!! I found some nice onces on sale at Sears for $99, but QVC has some nice "Diamonique" earrings on their web site that are very reasonably priced! I may even get a pair of those, too! You're off to such a good start, Don! You're really doing very well! I know how wonderful it feels to go from clear liquids to full! And MUSHIES is like PARADISE after that!! Walking is GOOD! Gets you moving and the metabolism going, etc! We'll be anxious to hear how your post-op appointment goes.

My weight loss has followed that same pattern all along... a couple of good losses, then level off for a few weeks, then drop some more. Last month, for instance.... 3 1/2 lb, then another 3 1/2 lb, then up 1 1/2, then down 1 1/2. But still down 7 lb for the month, so that's okay! I had really good losses in June & July and then almost nothing in Aug/Sept, so it was nice to see a good loss again in Oct.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I didn't experience that myself, but I know many have. Often people sleep in their recliners for many nights after surgery. It will gradually get better. I was able to sleep in my bed, on my side, right away with very little discomfort. Sounds like you're doing really well, especially considering the additional surgery that you had! :rolleyes2::thumbup::hurray:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I had my first fill about 6-7 weeks after surgery. Then another about 3 wks later, and one more about 3 weeks after that. Then I went 6 months before the next one... by then I was 10 mos post-op. I had another at my one year check up appt. That was the end of July and I don't expect to need another before next spring. Restriction is good and new eating habits are very much ingrained by now! Typical food day today: small eggbeaters/seafood omelet for breakfast with very small amount of hash browns.... less than 1/4 cup. Lunch was a few nibbles of this and that at Costco! Mid-afternoon snack was a small stuffed crab from Wal-Mart (170 calories)... that was a bit of a splurge. Dinner, half of a filet mignon... maybe 4 oz, with sauteed onions/mushrooms and some spinach. Had two small glasses of wine this afternoon, too, 50-60 oz Crystal Lite and couple of cups of coffee. Lost 7 lb during October. I do water aerobics for an hour 5X a week in the morning.

Corn is definitely a problem for me. I love fresh corn, but can only eat about 1/2 ear. Frozen corn, I eat in very small amounts and very carefully. It's very starchy and it's difficult to digest, too. I very seldom eat it.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

No problem, Katy. I was confused about what you meant. You're probably talking about the 60+ thread I started, but that was quite a while ago. They'd shut down a bunch of our threads because they got too big, so I started a new thread for the over 60 crowd. You've gotta hang in there, Flowers. I'd say it takes at least 3 fills before your restriction starts really working for you. Stick with it. Don't give up already! It's going to be okay!! Read Long's post... she's right on! You can get those sugar free syrups in most grocery stores, usually by the coffee as they're the type that are often added to espresso drinks... lattes, etc. When I was needing to up my protein intake I bought a large jar of whey Protein, the kind that is tasteless and dissolves easily in anything. I added it to all sorts of things to boost my protein. Very good observations on fills/restriction, Long! Hope you get over that cold soon. I haven't ever heard of anyone having to get an unfill because of a cold. Get some cough suppressant for the cough. But I don't think you can cough hard enough to disslodge anything! Band is usually stitched in place with a couple of stitches. Just dont' cough up a lung! You'll be okay soon! :rolleyes2:

Smooth is more important than "cream". NO lumps. If he wants creamed soup with lumps, put it in the blender. Add protein powder to help him get in his protein. I liked tomato soup when I was at that stage, but I did have some creamed soups that we put in the blender. I think I had pea soup, too. I like that. But the NO LUMPS is the thing for this stage. Even soupy mashed potatoes are okay by some docs. Just use common sense and he'll be fine.

Hi, Good time at the Street Fair last night. Didn't go to Mexican OR Fish! Went to the Village Pub and had lamb shank. It was good. Beautiful evening and we sat at an outside table. Saw a darling little Italian Greyhound at the restaurant. Just sitting on a chair at a table with his two mommies. Yeah, it's Palm Springs. What can I say. I chatted with them for a few minutes. DOg had on a pumpkin costume! There was all kinds of Halloween festivities going on at the street fair including a costume contest for dogs! I did say it IS Palm Springs, right??? Dog strollers abound. Dogs at the mall in Macy's. More dogs than kids. Octoberfest was fun tonight, too. DO you do the Macarena at Octoberfest??? These people do! Cute costumes there, too, but no dogs. Just people costumes and pumpkin carving contest. Downs syndrome lady won that. She was sitting across the table from us in her clown suit and she was so tickled when she won the pumpkin carving contest that she sat there grinning and sometimes breaking in to a giggle on and off the rest of the evening! Her prize was a nylon pumpkin FULL of candy, which she insisted on passing around the table. It was pretty cute.

Hi, All! Gotta "talk" fast because my battery is probably wearing down. I'm at the library again and too lazy to plug in! Halloween... don't have to worry about candy. Not enough kids here for that. Anyways, everyone will be at the clubhouse for "Octoberfest"! Going to the Palm Springs Street Fair tonight. Smells there always drive me out of my mind... onions cooking, especially. We're going out for dinner first. I want to go to Mexican but Earl might make me do fish. Weigh in today.. down 1 1/2, but that's what I was up last week!! But still down 7 lb for the month. Exercise is going well. Have missed very few days this month. Janet, nice compliment from that lady who's been "observing" you! That's a real lifter upper! Gave Earl fair warning this morning that if he was going to sit in front of his laptop all afternoon with his little notebook and his calculator, that he could count on me getting in the car and leaving (shopping or something!) So he went for a bike ride in the desert. Well, gotta go check a couple of other threads!

Sorry to hear of problems with your sis. Enough to deal with without that. Reminds me that we need to review our "stuff" and make sure everything is up to date. I've been inside all day. Not good. Went to water aerobics around 8:30 a.m., back at the RV by a little before noon and inside the rest of the day. Just not motivated. So sick of hearing whining about the stock market it's getting depressing!

Good to hear from you, Nina! Glad everything went well and you are both back home now. Don will feel a little bit better each day. The nausea should go away soon. It takes time for the anesthetic to get completely out of our bodies. He's on the way to good health! Give him our love! He's been waiting so long for this and it's really exciting to hear that he's had his surgery!

Good Afternoon! Hot here again today.... 90 something. Went for a scooter ride for an hour or so but so hot my neck was getting burned and the back of my pants were soaking wet with sweat when we got back! I had to change my pants so I could sit on the couch! Earlier in the week the weather report said it was going to cool off by this weekend. Now, no end in sight, the last I heard! On the internet front things are looking up. Office wanted to know how many days I signed up for Wi-Fi vs. how many days I actually got. So I put that in writing and turned it in. About an hour later, a new WiFi tower/antenna was installed right behind our RV!! Coincidence, I imagine, but it was funny! And encouraging! Signal is very strong but I can't use it because they wont' give me the password until they work out some "gliches"! Frustrating. The signal is so strong it keeps overriding others in the nieghborhood that we've been using! Worried about my Thurs morning weigh in! The weather is so nice, everyone outside and a casual outside encounter can quickly turn into sitting on someone's patio sipping wine!! Friday night we have Octoberfest... I inquired about the menu... brats, sauerkraut and potato salad! No beer... no alcohol at the clubhouse.
