It's the skinny chick standing next to me!! Makes me look as broad as a barn! And those stupid cords... they were too tight in Sept, now they're baggy... they didn't help the look! We live in our RV in the winter, near Palm Springs CA, in a really great Christian RV park. If you ever get down this way with your 5th wheel, you'll have to check it out! -
Ah.. internet keeps coming and going!! First time today it would load LBT for me!! So have to be quick with my thoughts lest it go away again before i'm done!! YEP.... Your DH & mine.. two peas in a pod! He was in his glory yesterday getting all that food organized, table set outside.... after he arranged the patio to perfection!! :w00t: I don't envy you with that SNOW!! Yuck! I grew up with it, but I don't miss it a teeny, tiny bit!! OF COURSE, we were GLAD to see you!! Great visit and so glad you could come!! Thanks for hanging around when everyone left. Appreciated the clean up help, too. Yes, the shirt was a GREAT idea! Can't wait to wear it! It was really a fun evening! And I don't remember the last time I had a birthday party! Me, too!! Cute!! Love the hat, too!

WELCOME!! So glad you found this site. Lots of good info here, and lots of good support and encouragement. Hiatal hernia is fairly common and many have that repaired when they have their lapband surgery. Glad you are feeling good.

Congrats, Lucky!! Most doctors quote this...I guess that's what the stats say, but we're proving them wrong here every day!! Wonderful!! I'm right behind you... slipped in to the 220's yesterday and it felt oh so good! I had to get on the scale twice because I could not believe my eyes!! My driver's license wrong in the right direction now, too! I can hardly stand to look at the picture! Yeah, had this discussion with a cashier at RiteAid a couple of months ago. We laughed over it. She wanted to see photo ID. First I pulled out my Costco/Amex card... she said picture was really hard to see. So I laughed and pulled out my driver's license and said, "how about this??? does this look like me?" Then we held up some other shoppers because she wanted to know my story!

LOL!! Don't give up on the EAS yet!! Try it again. I've used it off and on since before my surgery. One of my tricks is to put some sugar free latte syrup in it... like DaVinci or something. I put SF Raspberry in the Chocolate EAS and enjoy it that way!!

What do you think of my theory that it is Facebook that is hogging the bandwidth?? This site has become bandwidth intensive, too, I fear, because I notice a LOT more fancy ads flashing in the right column, including occasional video!! Good suggestion! I figured that out a couple of years ago and started using gmail from Google. And I set up Outlook so it downloads there. Works great. Yeah, another BAD day on Wall Street!! DH is REALLY depressed!! Whining about watching everything he worked for 40+ years disappear before his eyes. He's insisting he's going to have to go back to work!! I don't see that happening. I wish he would stop watching Fox News all day long, turn off his computer and put away his calculator!! Today he told me I had to cut my Christmas budget to $25 a person!! What do you buy for $25????? Wonder if I still get my $100 for the slot machines next week???? I'm afraid to ask if I still get my CASINO DAY!! Maybe I'll go by myself!!:eek::biggrin::crying::biggrin::tt2::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: HEY!! LOOK AT MY TICKER!! It finally moved again!! I'm DELIGHTED to say that the scale went down 4 lb today and I am getting really close to that 100 lb mark! But DH is not in the mood to celebrate that with me.. just sitting in his chair moping ALL DAY! He skipped TOPS and he was too depressed to come to the pool for water aerobics today!! I think he needs a shrink!! Money just does not have that kind of a hold on me!! He gets mad at me because I keep telling him I don't care! Doesn't sound like much fun. I had to do that once a LONG time ago! Yuck! And it's such a freaking waste of time! That's what drove me crazy... the ALL DAY thing!

I've thought about this, too. I think because we have cut so many things out of our "diet", we have a better appreciation for those things we CAN eat! Just my take on it! I have been buying those costco filets since you told me about them and they are SO good. Right now I can eat maybe a half of one, unless its a really small one. Thanks for the birthday wishes! Getting together will be a GREAT thing to Celebrate in itself! Yeah, my email notifications started coming again, too and I have 27 of them in my LapBand folder!! You're right about the NG>... no BLIND Ng! I bought this ID bracelet that has a jump drive built in to it where you can put all your medical info. It's a simple text file, so they'd just have to plug it in to any computer to read all the data. Found it online.

We're just messin' with ya!!

LOL!! I've been wanting to say that for a while, but I know how dependent people get on that AOL browser! And I'm close enough to get hit! Thing is, she never had trouble with it before... and she's been using AOL for a long time?? My primary browser is Mozilla Firefox. SIL works for Microsoft, but sometimes I defect, and I've had to many problems with Internet Explorer! Not downloading anything like that. I've even asked most of the people who email me on a regular basis to PLEASE not send my any video clips for the time being. I should've added, no PowerPoint, either! But, I think the bandwidth hog is Facebook, which I use a LOT!! They have video ads going half the time, and now this site is doing more of that also! I have to be polite because they're actually letting us use the internet as a courtesy right now while they are bringing it up to speed. They won't actually start selling the service until Jan. 1st. If it continues after that, I will for sure remember... "EAT ROCKS AND DIE!!" and then I will contract with Time Warner for cable internet!

Hmmm.... the band will do 25% of the work, but you have to do the other 75%! It wil take several fills to get you to good restriction... probably three at least. That will help control your hunger, but you still have to make healthy food choices. Don't pick "slider" foods.... thinks that slide through easily... mashed potatoes & gravy, ice cream, high cal stuff. You must eat hard protein, then veggies. And exercise is key, also. The band is a tool and it helps you with portion control, and hunger to some extent. But you will have to harness the head hunger!!

I AGREE! Something that really puzzles me is that even though my doctor's office does ALL fills under fluoro, they NEVER look at the band, only at the port, to make sure they have the needle placed correctly. You'd think that at least once in a while, since they're charging for the fluoro anyway, that they'd look at the band and check placement!!??? -
We are in a different space.. our original one, actually... right next to where we were last year. Have a big palm tree at this one. Yeah, I'm a bit rebellious, too!! We'll be waiting for a report! Checked my BP at Sam's Club last week and it was 114/42 and I raised an eyebrow! I don't think my doc cut me back enough. That's too low! My stupid wrist cuff doesn't work very well and I paid big bucks for a new one not that long ago!!

Good Morning, All! Great posts this morning... Gypsy! Wow! One of my pre-band thoughts... I'm going to die young and DH won't be able to find a casket wide enough or pall bearers strong enough!! :rolleyes2::biggrin: Papaya.... I have to be careful with it... the chewables are sweet, and addicting. I can't keep them close to wear I sit in the eveing... but they really help when I feel stuck. Anyway, I get mine either at Wal-Mart (Spring Valley - 180, I think $4.73, or Rite Aid...Once a month their PharmaSure brand is 2 for the price of 1..250 for $5.99 I think.) -
Best time to call...afternoon or evening. So glad you can come. Hope I give better directions this time! Yeah, we still go to TOPS...in fact, one of the other ladies asked me if I'd be co-leader with her. Apparently the gal who is leader now doesn't want to do it anymore. So I'll have to transfer my membership from my WA group to do it... I'm just a "traveler" to this group here. I guess I don't talk about it when the scale doesn't go down and it hasn't moved lately!! Hoping for a drop Thursday! I keep going up and down! I was up 1/2 lb last week. Got on the scale in the weight room this afternoon and it read about where I was last week! But, it was mid-afternoon and my weigh ins are always first thing in the morning.. and I don't know how accurate that weight room scale is. Oh, my!! That is quite a story!! Sounds like a challenging job!! I think we've come to a truce.... temporary, at least, with regards to my snacks! I told him exactly how many calories my snacks are... whether I decide to have cottage cheese and fruit cup or salsa/queso and my veggie crackers. 105 calories vs. 120 calories and I usually have one of those two things for my night time snack. He just gets all up tight when my TOPS weigh in tanks.. and he thinks it's HIS job to fix it!

My email notifications stopped coming, too! Wonder why??

WOW!! After all this time... 16 mos on Thurs, I am still here every day, several times a day, because of all the encouragement and inspiration here! Love to read your posts! April, so glad you came back and posted again! You express yourself so well, and thoughts and feelings we've all experienced! And the up and downs we've all had... WW, Jenny Craig, you name it! This will work for you! Yes, it does involve lifestyle changes, but we can all do this! Portion control, healthy choices, exercise! Fluffycat... I can relate to so much of what you said, too! I am losing very slowly, too. And I know it would probably come off faster if I'd give up my afternoon glass of wine, but I've chosen not to do that. -
I'm doing MUCH better today! I think you understand, I've had a FEW frustrating episodes the past few days. I think the healthiest reaction was the long scooter ride in the dark! I kept my hazard lights on so I didn't get run over by a golf cart or something!! And to scare the snakes away! And I undestand the Wi Fi problem... the bandwidth restrictions, etc., and I'm trying to exercise extreme restraint until they get it all upgraded.. which is supposed to be in two more days! I just don't appreciate it being discussed in the office gossip circle, espeially since they include someone who doesn't even work there anymore! She is a busy body!! And Earl says I need to just ignore her! But she was trying to explain things to me in the pool, in front of anyone within earshot, and it was all stuff I'd already been told by someone who had the authority to explain it to me, which she DID NOT! I didn't even speak to her this morning and she kept her mouth shut, too. I'm sure she doesn't know she pissed me off, but if she does it again, I'll clue her in!!:tongue: I got my hair cut this afternoon! It's SHORT, but I love how she did it! Earl says it's just right! Next door neighbor was getting hers done just before me. She's a retired beautician, so she had to get her two cents in, too, which is fine. Between the two of them, they persuaded me to leave a little length in the back to "soften" the look. So I said okay. It's real short on the sides because otherwise, it isalways sticking out when I have my glasses on! Don't wear my contacts very often becase the Rx is al wrong now and I can't read with them on! So I have a spunky new do! Looks good with all my earrings... thre on each ear now! We're throwing a "happy hour" party Saturday night! I told DH it was our turn to throw a party! C'mon over, Janet!! Earl is getting chicken wings, meatballs, potato salad, beans and birthday cake!!

Hey! Good Morning! Well, no one's offended me yet this morning, but I haven't been out of the motor home yet! Time will tell! Yesterday after water aerobics, while still in the pool, I was lectured by a lady who USED TO work in the office, about what is appropriate internet usage at this stage of the Wi Fi rework! She was nice about it, but I've heard it all from the administrator! AND, it told me that I've been the object of the office gossip circle because she should've had NO knowledge of what transpired between me and the system administrator, who is also part of the family who owns the park. DH says ignore it... let it roll off my back. But it annoyed me! So... like I say... we'll see how it goes this morning!:tongue: I kept my cool but I was doing a slow burn and couldn't wait to get back and vent to DH!! Gotta get off here, finish on the internet and get ready for the pool! Have a great day, everyone!!

LOL!! It's nice to be able to be REAL here!! Sometimes I wonder if we still deal with hormones even at my age because I definitely have days when I have a much shorter fuse than others. This is for me:

I'll be anxious to here all about your ps consult. I hear you about the knees, but then I start worrying about infections. You are more prone to infections after total knee replacement. Even with the partial I had, dentist always wants me to megadose on antibiotics just before and just after dental work, even just a cleaning. My snacks.... they're always the same and I know the calories, so I don't know why all of a sudden he was reading the labels to see how many calories and getting on my case because I wanted queso and salsa instead of cottage cheese and fruit!! That's what the whole issue was. "I BUY YOU.... blah, blah, blah, blah..... and then you want to eat this!" Excuse me??? The Queso is 40 calories for 2 tbsp, salsa 20 cal for 2 tbsp. Then I have a few crackers... my vegie crackers are 120 for 14. I NEVER eat 14, usually not even 7... especially if HE is giving them to me. Then I"m lucky to get 3 or 4!! So... 40, 20, 60.... whole snack is 120 calories. And some nights I have the cottage cheese instead... 1/2 cup of fat free with a 25 calorie fruit cup and a sprinkle of cinnamon. I think that adds up to 105 calories. My afternoon snack... a couple of those crackers and about 1/2 oz of cheese and my 3-4 oz glass of wine. I guess I can try the "sweet talk", but that's not exactly my personality!! What I said was SORT OF like "jump in the lake", but not quite!!:eek:When I saw him reading the calories, I could feel the heat rise and my BP probably spiked. He doesn't like it when I yell so I just started throwing things as I went out the door!! :cursing::tt2::tongue2: When I get mad, sad, etc... anything emotional, band chokes up immediately and then I can't eat anything! Had to skip lunch yesterday because I got really ticked at an usher who embarassed me at church by chewing me out in front of God and country because he didn't like where I parked my handicap scooter! Hello??? I used to sit in it for the whole service and then it was REALLY in the way. Now I park it at the back of the room in an out of the way place and walk. And THIS Sunday, that was all the way to the front and up the steps because I joined the choir a few weeks ago! I was so careful to tuck that thing away in a corner and this jerko chews me out and told me if I wasn't going to sit in it then I needed to leave it outside. He doesn't know it but his wife is a friend of mine and I'm going to rat on him! Does it sound like I've been a bit bitchy this weekend???? Nah! It can't be ME!!
-
Hey, wait a minute! Not exacty "tough", but, HOLY CATS, you do a LOT of STUFF around there! Cooking for those guys, hauling things in the truck, etc.! I'm impressed!! And, YEP, EVERYTHING gets easier as the weight comes off, doesn't it!! Thanks for the birthday dance~! I think I want to throw a party AND go to the casino!
-
There ya go!! I have a long way to go yet, but I'm thinking about that all the time lately! Not the face, though. I think my face is okay... hopefully not too many more wrinkles as I get closer to goal. But I hate my legs! Especially my thighs! I'd like to get them down right now!! Arms..... bat wings, maybe. Stomach is probably going to be a problem, too. I just hate to think of more surgery, though, because I've already been told I need to have both knees replaced when I get closer to goal.
-
HI, Apples, My BD coming up next week, too... 25th. I think I need to plan a party, too!! I'll be 65! Your farm life sounds very busy and strenuous! Glad you can take time out from all that stuff to party with your friends. I think I want to go to a casino and stuff the slot machines to celebrate!
