Tatiana.... the manic girl on American Idol. I think that's why they're keeping her on... I don't think she's that talented, but she attracts a lot of attention because she's psycho! Sorry!! My personal opinion. She's extremely annoying to me! Scale moved GOOD today! And I'm feeling better! Head still hurts a little, nose is sore, not coughing to much and went to water aerobics again! Excited about Linda & DH coming on Mon. Found them a place to rent here in the RV park & hoping I might talk them in to 2 nights instead of 1. Janet, please, please shake off that crud! We have big plans for Monday! Shopping, Tram, dinner!

Hi, Excited to say the scale moved BIG TIME this morning. Being one of those who sees big losses and then nothing for WEEKS, it is very exciting to have a big loss day! 5.6 LB! BMI went below 43 and weight below 220 for first time in almost 30 years!

    I'm here to help...

I have to get in on this dinner/lunch/supper discussion because I have a good story. In 1991 when we were transferred to Oklahoma with Boeing, we were having a house built. During the painting stage, there was something that I was unhappy with and wanted fixed/changed. So I called the builder's wife who managed all the workers and told her about it. So she called me back and told me that the painter said he would be there right after dinner. So, next day, I made sure we were home.... at 6 pm! No painter. So I called her back. She didn't know what happened but told me we'd try again the next day, right after DINNER. This went on for 3 days. Next time I called her she got mad at me and told me that painter had been there EVERY DAY at 1pm and I wasn't there! That's when I learned the difference between lunch and dinner in that part of the country!! Scale moved big time today and I am delighted to be under 220 for the first time in almost 30 years!

CONGRATULATIONS! That's wonderful! Three of our four kids celebrated their 20th in the past two years! I'm so proud of all of them. In this day and age, when committment is taken so lghtly, it's so good to rejoice in those who take it serioyusly! You're right... God is GOOD.... All the Time!

I can't believe she's blaming me for her cold!! She better get over it by Monday!! Linda is coming! I'm feeling a little better today and I went to Water aerobics! And now I'm going to the dentist!:mad::mad: Hormones..... I took them for 10 years.... I think my doctor started me WAY too early. Then I got nervous about taking them and asked to go off. And I've been on Evista ever since. It's a synthetic and works for me. But I have to tell you, never had any of those miserable symptoms most gals have. I think I'm the only one of us four sisters who managed to escape hot flashes! My sisters hate me for that.

    Any one in NW WA

We're in SO CA for the winter but I flew home for a few days on Valentine's Day. I got a fill (very cranky P A that day who chewed me out for a number of things!), saw my dentist, checked on our condo and mostly spend time with two daughters and grandchildren (stayed with one daughter and not at the condo). So, I said all that to say... flying was NOT a problem, even coming back just a few days after a fill. In fact, as much as I HATE to fly anymore, it was delightful NOT to have to ask for a seat belt extender, NOT to be uncomfortably squished between the arms of the seat, NOT to have the tray table resting on my stomach! I mean that sucker sat flat and level with room to spare! I kept it down the whole trip, north and south! And I had a drink to celebrate!! Complimentary on Valentine's Day! HOWEVER, we took a road trip north this past weekend, and going through the "Grapevine" and over Tejon Pass... might be my imagination, but it sure seemed like my band tigtened up. Especially coming home. We'd had breakfast before we left for home that morning and I had a little container of salmon in the cooler for my lunch (mixed with ff cream cheese), and a FF rice pudding. But I could not eat anything all day. I ate a small amount of something when we got back to the RV that evening, but not much. I blamed it on the altitude change!

We have a niece who participated in one of these Susan Komen runs a couple of years ago and there was a website you could go to to make donations to her account. Do you think that option will be available after you get registered? The family sent out the link to anyone and everyone and she raised a bunch of money that way.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I would try one of two things.. either make an exception and allow yourself enough of a sip of water to get the pill down, or try swallowing it with a bite of food. I've done that before.

That is a tough requirement! You have to campaign for yourself... on the internet, on your blog, emails to friends and relatives, etc. It's a tall order, for sure! Get pledges for $x/mile.

Hope you have some takers. I'm getting excited! It was definitely NOT a good idea! Didn't go! Haven't been outside ALL day, but all the windows and the door... open, 75 degrees, so it feel like I'm outside. But still in my jammies! Excellent report on your fill visit, Donna! Your doctor sounds like a PEACH! I haven't seen mine since about a month after my surgery! I just get the crabby PA lady!

I can relate to the donkey poop phase. DH just doesn't get it. He just went up to do laundry and told someone who asked that I was feeling better and just having a "catch up" day! Huh?? I'm sitting here hacking and coughing and I can't breathe through my nose! He wasn't pleased that I didn't show up for water aerobics this morning and I'm sure the "you haven't exercised in a week" lecture is coming at any moment. UGH! Anyways, so.... reunion in Seattle Sept 11-13??!! I'll be part of the support team! And we have a spare room with a queen size bed that will sleep two and a pull out couch in the LR that will sleep one!:tongue2::biggrin: P.S. Everett Amtrak station less than 5 miles from our condo, Steph!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi! Well, bored and on the couch in my jammies since I can't seem to shake this crud I picked up when I flew home to WA for a few days a couple of weeks ago. People are always needing help with their tickers and it's hard to find that tutorial post, so this time I bookmarked it for easier access next time someone needs help. Wow! Revision to sleeve.. a big step, but I know, Janet, for one always says if she ever had a band problem that's what she would do, too. I've read up on it a little, but not yet that familiar with it. Best of luck to you with that. I think I read a post on another board from someone who was having band problems.. lived in your area and used your surgeon. But that's all I remember!! Claiming another senior moment! LOL

First.... hope your back is feeling better SOON! I never made it to the hot tub. Still in my jammies. Maybe later. Well, we're ALL a little crazy! As I just told my niece, it makes us more lovable! But,crazy to consider that walk?? No, not if you think you're up to it. So, 60 miles over 3 days? That's a LOT of walking! You'd have to train for it like Karri does. I can't do it but maybe I can volunteer Earl!:tongue2: It's certainly a worthy cause. I might be able to drum up some support for you. And I can be one of you cheerleaders!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

There is an EXCELLENT "ticker tutorial" with photos, but until I find it, you might try this: Here's the link: Weight Loss - Diet Ticker Select your ticker ruler - Click Next Select your ticker slider - Click Next Configure Your Weight Tracker Ticker - Click Next Cut and paste code for most boards and web pages: Use the address in " bbCode" In this website go to User CP, then in Settings and Options on the left side click on edit signature, paste code information into the white message box and you can either click on save signature or preview signature to see it before you save it.

Good to hear from you again, Don! Its always good to hear from our 60+ folks! Yes, you probably need a fill. But it will also really help if you start keeping a food diary of everything you are eating and figure the calories. There are some good websites you can use to do this if you don't like the pencil and paper method. I like FitDay.com, but I know there are a couple of other good ones. Check out your options. Maybe someone here has some other favorites because I can't think of them right now. You may be eating too much, or need to make better choices. Have you cut out most of the carbs? Sounds like your exercise is on target. Bowling is not too effective for exercise, but the treadmill is excellent. Portion control + healthy food choices + exercise = SUCCESS!!

Good Morning! Can't remember for sure, but don't think we cooked the eggplant at all before we put it in the casserole. We'll have to try it again, your way. It was a little bitter and that's why we weren't crazy about it. Earl is determined to get me to water aerobics no matter what. He was "disappointed" when I didn't go yesterday. He has my scooter all packed up with my stuff and ready to go and I'm sitting here coughing and hacking and going through kleenex like it's going out of style. He's crazy. Am I supposed to take my box of kleenex to the pool with me?? And as soon as those old ladies here me coughing, they'll all clear "my end" of the pool. Maybe I'll go up and sit in the hot tub and call it a day! The old boy is still adjusting to my last "adjustment". Have to keep telling him, "smaller"! Could only eat half of my omelet this morning. It always fits on a saucer, but if it is as long as the saucer is wide, it's TOO big! I did finally get him to start making my lunch salads in a little pyrex bowl because he just couldn't seem to cut down the size of the salad using the soup bowl he's been making it in. You all know he's my "personal trainer"!! LOL!! But sometimes he needs some "re-training"!

Do you peel the eggplant before you grill it? We tried making eggplant lasagna once and it didn't turn out that great. But we'd never cooked eggplant before. We didn't peel it. Yours sounds really good.

Good Morning! Yes, Candice... beautiful quilt. Congrats on the morning weight, Janet! Head is a little clearer this morning... taking musinex and some other multi-symptom thing and it's helped some. I want to go to lunch with the Red Hatters this morning, so took both of them!! Probably won't be able to eat much, but trying to get acquainted with these ladies and only 6 more weeks left here. Didn't exercise, though... so my exercise tracker still says 00 for the month! Maybe it will move tomorrow.

Got back from our trip a couple of hours ago. Thought my ears were going to blow up going over mountain pass Friday. Didn't feel well all weekend, but still had an enjoyable time. Our friend's 60th birthday/retirement party. Pretty good weekend foodwise. Ate practically nothing today.... too tight. Our friends invited everyone back to their house for breakfast this morning. Scrambled eggs... okay, but turkey low fat sausage and ham... very dry. I had just one sausage, one small piece of ham that I ended up giving to Earl, and he finished my eggs, too. Didn't feel like eating all day after that. I think going over the pass again made it worse. No snacks, no lunch, and when we got home had a few little pieces of gorgonzola cheese and a little smoked salmon. Now I feel really full again. Didn't get in all my liquids today either. Been working on a small glass of wine for two hours and it's still not half gone. Supposed to go out with Red Hat ladies for lunch tomorrow, but not unless I'm feeling a whole lot better... and can eat something!
