Where is everyone today?? Too quiet! So.... DH won't take my pictures because he refuses to let me email naked pictures to the doctor's office! :tt1::tt2: BUT, as I said, he has now agreed to go to San Diego with me for a consult. So I requested an appointment for Saturday, April 4th because we have to get up at the "crack of dawn" that day to take DD to the Ontario airport.... 2 hr drive, have to be there at least 60-90 minutes ahead of time and guess what time her flight home is???? 6:30 a.m.!! I don't know what she was thinking! But I guess that will work out... if we go to San Diego from there. So here's hoping they have an appointment available that morning! Do you guys think I'm nuts for wanting to get my legs done before I get to goal??

I can't imagine why that would be a problem. If it is.... I am in DEEP "shimsky"!!

SEE... YOU'RE not afraid to go to Mexico either! DH is flipping out over this! Told me I'm NOT going to TJ and have surgery done by "some QUACK". I told him he's NOT the BOSS of me!! But he did agree to take me to San Diego for the consult. Have a GREAT time down there! Where in Mexico are you going?

Yes, frustrating that there is no "pause" button! Even more frustrating, sometimes I doze off while playing Pathwords or Sudoku and then I get a really BAD score for that round! I only count how many more "sleeps" when I'm away. How many more sleeps until I"m back in my own bed! I clicked on one of the ads on LBT for Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana because I knew he was highly recommended. From there, I sent an email asking for a PS referral. So they told me to contact a Dr. Quiroz... also TJ. So I did and they have been really nice. In fact, the doctor called me yesterday! They want me to send photos from the neck down and then he will call me for a phone consult/estimate... OR, I can go to San Diego to see him.. he has an office there. Now all I have to do is figure out how to persuade Earl to take me there or take the photos for me! He flips out every time I talk about PS! Linda A & I are conspiring to do it together! Uh oh.... broached the subject again just now & he's freaking out. Guess I shouldn't have told him the Tijuana part!!

Very similar pattern to yours....first week I was down a little, then down 5.6 the next week, then up 3 lb, this week down .6 lb! That bad week... too many social situations where I didn't over do it, but ate more carbs than I normally do. Very tight this week so I was kind of disappointed to see the scale go down just .6 lb! Hopefully next week will be better. But I typically see a big loss, then up & down until I settle at that weight, then another big drop. It's crazy! No suggestions... just hang in there... it's slow, steady, and going in the right direction. I'm getting impatient because I want to get my knees done while we're home this summer and ortho guy wants my BMI at 40 before he does them.

DH kind of insists that I do it! Actually... by the time you get all the figures together... may as well do it. I use TaxCut. But, cost of the software... hmmm.... yeah, maybe I should pay someone else to do it!! Wonderful that you are out of the hospital! On the road to recovery. Yes, very addicting. If you can figure out MobWars you're a better woman than me. I just don't get the point. But, I like Pathwords, parking wars, Possum Tossum, Challenge Sudoku!

Don't let slow weight loss get you discouraged. I am 20 mos out... 109 lb down. Slow but steady wins the race. Not that this is a race!! :tongue_smilie::biggrin::thumbup: Popcorn.... a friend on another thread eats 100 cal bags frequently... microwave type, with no problem. Chew, chew, chew. Take it slow and easy and see if it goes down okay if you must have it. There are worse things you could indulge in, and if you plan your treats, you can do it. Right now I am so tight I can barely take anything but my 3 meals. My nightly snack is usually a Jello pudding 70 cal rice pudding, but last few nights, didn't dare have it. Maybe tonight.

So glad you got to go to dinner with GS & family! Kinda special that it was same place you went last year with him & your brother. Sad but sweet a the same time. A special evening for you. Pineapple juice did the trick last night. So I bought another 6 pack today. Not stressed. Last fill was Feb. 16 when I was in Seattle... so a month ago. Don't know what happened. May have set myself up by having 1/2 sloppy joe on Tues. for lunch. Never eat bread and though I had no problem with it at the time, the trouble started when I had that chicken for dinner that night and continued on through yesterday. Had yogurt drink for breakfast today and then soup & 1/2 sandwich (on whole wheat Sara Lee type bread) for lunch and I've been fine all day. So glad to hear Steph's surgery went well this morning. She was in my thoughts and prayers all day today. Amazing that she might get discharged as early as this evening! She might be back at her hotel by now! Now praying for a swift recovery and relief from that awful pain. May have done a disc fusion... but my nursing days are long gone and memory escapes me. And I'm not up to date on recent developments in treatment. But I do know that sometimes they will fuse the discs.... restricts movement to some extent, but low in the back should not have much impact if that's what they did. TAXES... dirty word! All done except I have a big stack of donations to enter. Remember all those clothes I've donated all year long??? DH documented EVERYTHING and got receipts. I had them entered in "Deduction Pro" through Sept., but my tax program refuses to import them so I have to enter everything from the whole year all over again. And April 15th is rapidly approaching. Have them on my lap at this very moment and was planning to do that while DH was running back & forth from the laundry this afternoon, but so far... hasn't gone beyond thumbing through and looking at all this stuff I need to type in!! UGH!! I HATE taxes!

starting BMI over 50? come on in!

Glad they figured out what was wrong and hope the surgeon has an acceptable plan for you! Need to get you back on track. I'm having trouble with PBing, sliming, etc the past two days. I have never had too much of a problem with this, but had a fill done 3 weeks ago and somewhat tighter since then, especially the last two days. My papaya isn't working. Have to pull out the big guns.... pineapple juice. Hope I have some! Otherwise, will try a cup of tea. Spent most of last night sitting up on the couch. Don't want to do that again tonight! Hugs to you... keep us posted!

OH... I forgot about the pineapple juice. That's my last resort weapon. I think I have one more can left, too. I have to dig in the basket that serves as our RV pantry! Thanks for reminding me. Janet leaves for the cruise on Sunday. Today is GS 18th birthday. But I don't know where she is because she said he was having dinner with his mom tonight. Probably just getting ready to go... and I think meeting with house sitter tonight. Karri found her way to FB. I sent her some LBT friend suggestions... tried to keep it to Lucky #7s, but sometimes hard to remember which ones are from other threads. DH offered me tea a few hours ago but I wasn't ready for any kind of liquids yet. Feeling better now and maybe I'll try that if I can't find a can of pineapple juice. Hoping not to have to sit on the couch half the night tonight!

Sounds like a plan that will work! Relief is just a day away! You will be in our prayers! And we will be anxiously awaiting an update from you or Jeff. Either here or on FB. I think the phrase she likes is "EAT ROCKS AND DIE!!" You can find her by just googling her name... Or google any one of us, then add as "friend", and we will make friend suggestions! I know... sounds really dorky! There are quite a few of us Lucky #7 "Bandsters" on FB now. I wonder if my scooter will make it 60 miles!! I have two... she could use one! Still miserable with stomach problems. Sliming, PBing and just plain vomiting. Sat up on the couch until 4 a.m., then up at 7 a.m., so very short night. Got a small breakfast down and it stayed down, but couldn't drink after that. I usually drink 20 oz Crystal Lite during water aerobics and 20 oz of water in the hot tub afterwards. Haven't been able to finish the Crystal Lite the last two mornings. Went to Red Hatters luncheon at noon time Ate a small amount, did a little sliming, then okay. No afternoon snack, just my glass of wine. But after eating a small amt of dinner, started sliming again. Then lost most of my dinner. A little more comfortable now, but still keeping a bag next to me! Back to liquids tomorrow, I guess. We'll see if I can get back to normal by giving the stomach a rest.

So sorry! No, I wasn't being mean... just thought those of you in cold country might like some encouragement that warmer weather is coming your way, too! Honest! Glad for the update and hope things go better for you in the morning and that you can withstand the MRI. I am not having a very good day. Tight this morning and very uncomfortable until noon time. Then we had appreciatio (free) lunch put on by park staff... so I had 1/2 sloppy joe and a little potato salad. That went okay. Then DH BBQd a couple of skinless, boneless chicken thighs for dinner. I had a small one. Shortly afterwards started feeling really miserable and eventually much of it came up. Then I was okay for a while, now... feeling miserable again and not sure the rest is going to stay down. Fluid intake not good today... couldn't even drink a good part of the day. Red Hat ladies' picnic tomorrow at noontime, but I'm not sure I'm going to go. Don't know if I can face another food function. OH... I got in some shopping today while DH was at the dentist... went to Kohl's. I found a pair of capri's I really liked. And a cute top... size 16/18! That was exciting.. Then went to Wal-Mart. Another Red Hat thing this weekend... PJ party.. so I wanted some silly pj pants. Again... size 16/18.. in PANTS! So I was a happy camper!

We all lose differently, so I don't think they should put those thoughts in your head. I lost about 85 lb the first year. My weight loss has slowed down since then, but I'm still losing slowly but consistently. Others will tell you that you can expect to lose about 50% of your excess weight. They are quoting you statistics and we don't all fit in to their little boxes! You set YOUR goals on what YOU want, follow the rules, stay focused on your goal and you WILL make it! Healthy food choices, Protein first, then veggies... keep the carbs to a minimum and find some exercise that you can do on a regular basis. I have bad knees... I do Water aerobics.

I'm so sorry that you don't have better support. I complain sometimes about comments people make about my legs (thighs that look like they've been deflated), but honestly... I get a LOT of kudos from so many people here in our RV park and it is a real blessing to get all that support and encouragement. I wish that for ALL of you! And, that's another reason to be HERE on LBT.... to provide that for each other! It's so important... some of the energy that keeps us all going! And my family is great, too! My 86 yr old Mom sent me a card and a check for $100 when I reached the -100 lb mark. And my sisters sent me stuff, too... one sent me a Red Hat shirt and Red Hat watch!

Sounds pretty normal, Don. Just take it slow and easy. Very small bites, put the fork down in between bites. Chew a LOT! As for the liquids... sip, sip, sip.

The band is just a tool... you still have to do the work... healthy food choices, exercise, and most of all.. you have to get fills when you know you need one. THE CHOICE IS YOURS!! You have to want good health and a slimmer body more than you want the food.

You are too kind!! I really appreciate what you said more than you'll ever know!! Photogenic??? You haven't seen the pictures of me with my eyes closed! But, THANK YOU!! I am trying to research thigh plasty in Mexico!! Even today... a lady I barely know... sitting in the hot tub with her and she says.... and they always start with, "I probably shouldn't say this".... she was very nice, but I knew what she was talking about when she started commending me on getting in to the pool every day. Said she knows how much "courage" that takes because she has fought weight all her life. HUH??? She was about as big as a toothpick! Anyway, I knew she was talking about my legs, even though she didn't say so, because I don't think the rest of me looks that bad in a bathing suit anymore! It's my damn legs that are so grotesque and ugly!! I keep worrying that if I have the knee replacements done FIRST, then maybe I can't get a plastic surgeon to mess with my legs. I have a friend who's husband is a plastic surgeon... in Florida, and he mostly does faces, I think. So I had her ask him if he could refer me to someone... and if he thought it'd be okay to do my legs before I reach goal and he told her to tell me to wait. Well, I don't want to!! BTW... I know there is progress, though! I put another pair of sweat pants in the "goodwill" bag today when I got back from the pool. I was putting them on in the locker room and accidentally started to put both legs in one leg hole! And they almost fit that way! Time to retire them! The bag is getting very full and it's the second bag this winter.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

So we don't need a new web address or anything like that. Only bump in the road for us is that the site will be down while they make the transition. Wasn't it GREAT to hear from Helene (katydid)!!?? I know you were relieved, as we all were, to hear that she's on the mend!

I am jealous that you did that well at Wal-Mart. I was complaining to DH yesterday that they seem to have quit carrying the knit tops that I liked... bright colors, I liked the fabric and the fit and they were under $10! Can't find anything I like there anymore. I thought my taste was changing! But I think their prices have gone up and the quality has gone down. The stuff you found.... probably clearing out the stuff I like! Looks like i have to fly this summer, too... in to Buffalo, then drive north to Candice's. Stupid old jury duty screwed up all my plans. I think Linda A is wanting to ride with you if her DH doesn't go, and maybe even if he does?? Janet may remember what she said better than me when we saw her this week. I think she told her husband they might be stopping to pick you up.
