Think maybe Apples said something about going to her lake place.

I've used a Wii and Wii Fit for exercise for over a year. I have to be careful which exercises I do so I don't aggravate my knees, but it's fun and it gets me up and moving. I like the bowling, tennis, golf and balance exercises. Tomorrow is my 2 yr "Bandiversary". According to one LapBand study, average for "most" to have lost at the 2 yr point is 38% of their excess weight. Maybe I've set my goal a little high for my height, but I figure I've lost 62% of what I've set as my goal. I'm having left knee joint replacement on Aug. 25 and after recovery phase, should be able to step up my exercise. (No pun intended!) :wink2::biggrin::biggrin:

That's just NUTS!! What if she accidentally punctures the tubing??? Don't even think about it! Don't you have a fill doctor or fill center you can go to??? Hey.... I notice everyone is flying in late Thurs. afternoon. I was thinking we'd leave Buffalo around noon but maybe that's too early then. We probably would have room in our rental car for one.... could pick up Janet if it would help. Or, if you have that all figured out... we should maybe plan to come a little later. I know it's about 90 miles from Buffalo to Toronto.. and we're probably 15 miles from downtown Buffalo... so, say 100 miles at least, plus the distance from there to your place. So how long do you think it will take us?? I better start writing my presentation for TOPS tomorrow morning. So far all I have is three pictures on top of the page! Before picture, now picture and picture of LapBand around a stomach! I don't know quite how to start it, but I'll figure it out. Have to incorporate WLS/LapBand, TOPS and personal journey in the weight loss world.

Very small eggbeaters omelet with a little bit of sauteed onion, mushroom, imit. crab and skim mozarella. Should fit easily on a small saucer.

Yeah.... Monday 7/20 -- 2 years! And I give my weight loss "story" at TOPS that day. Didn't realize when I agreed to do it that it's my 2 yr anniversary! Busy weekend... planning that... they want it written up for our newsletter so I'm inserting photos. And I have to finish my packing by Monday. We leave very early in the morning on Tues. And we have BBQ at noon tomorrow... Primetimers... and driving a teenager to her 16th birthday party in the old Chevy at 4:30pm. Visited my friend again today... had total hip replacement on Tues., moved to rehab today. She's in the same hospital I'll be in. Note to self: do NOT overdo pain meds! She is lying in bed in lala land not moving at all! I'm not going to do that when I have my knee surgery next month! I'll use the morphine pump for a day or two, but then as little pain Rx as I can get away with. Have to get up and MOVE! Granted, she's at least 10 years older than me and a whole lot heavier, but I am afraid for her at this point! They gave her two pain pills, but probably at least an hour before we got there because she'd already had them when I called her to see if it was okay if we came over. She could barely keep her eyes open and kept falling asleep while she was talking and was saying weird things! When they switch me to oral meds it'll be one at a time if at all possible! Problem with reflux last night and didn't sleep well. So tonight I'm afraid to go to bed!

Well, lttle sip probably okay. I DO miss my carbonated drinks. I don't know what it is about tuna, but I have to be very careful with that, too, and it's one of my FAVORITE things. I love all kinds of seafood. Glad to hear things are going so well. Congrats on your one year! Our support and encouragement to one another is a VERY important part of this journey! -
I was so glad DH was off cutting lawn for DD/SIL this morning because it postponed his daily checking of our bank accounts! He came home at a little before 10 a.m. at which time I thought I should probably go take a shower. Before i could get back there and get the water turned on he came stomping in to the BR! "DID YOU SPEND $XX on your hair????! YEP, I DID! "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!" Answer: "GET OVER IT!!" HAH! Then I told him, "Yeah, but "m CUTE!" He admitted that he likes it! He doesn't know what I spent on my nails yet! LOL

Welcome, "Young"! Glad you decided to "chime in". This is a great thread. Also, have you checked out the "60+" thread? Our medical histories are very similar except that I'm not diabetic. I've been on CPAP for about 5 years and just had to have a repeat sleep study because my machine needs to be readjusted because of the weight loss. And BP and cholesterol meds are now half what they used to be. Knee replacement next month should help the exercise problem for me. I had the COE problem, too, so I have to travel about 60 miles to follow-up/fill appointments, but half that for the actual surgery... which was 2yrs next Monday... 7/20/07. We'll all be rooting for you. You'll do great.

Ya think I've been brain washed?? Wait til he sees what I spent yesterday!! LOL It was a great day.... first, 2 hours getting mani and pedi in the morning. Then Tracy came over for lunch... leftovers from the day before... cabbage/chicken Asian salad & crab. Then I went for a 2 hour cruise around the neighborhood and bought a purse/tote bag at Target. Then I went and got my hair done... cut and highlights. So... 5 hours of self-indulgence and well over $100! FUN!!

We are flying in to Buffalo Tues. evening. Pick up rental car and drive to my youngest sister's (10 minutes away). Wed. see Mom & other sister probably. Thurs drive to Canada. We're bringing Tom Tom with us! Previous experience using U.S.A. cell phone in Canada.... VERY expensive!! Last year made two very short calls to DD while we were all in Niagara Falls because we were in two different cars and got separated.... cost me $10!

So glad to hear everything went well with your DH! And congratulations on your 1 year bandiversary! My 2nd is next Monday. -
Hi! I don't know how I miss these messages! It's been almost a year since you wrote... reviewing my inbox and saw your message among several that I never saw and so, never answered! I'm so sorry!
I am approaching my 2 yr "bandiversary" and I'm down about 110 lb. I was hoping to get under 200 lb by this time, but have about 15 to go to get there. Weight loss has slowed down, but exercise is difficult... need both knees replaced and getting one done next month.
Did you find some support in the Spokane area?? Not much going on in my area, but I get so much support from this site!

I don't need curling iron... short & straight... just a little hair gel. Mad because I can't get a hair appt in Buffalo when I get there. I LOVE my sister's beautician and can't find one here that I like so I'm overdue for haircut/highlights and was counting on doing that after I get to Buffalo and before Canada. Packing as light as I possibly can. Probably have to bring CPAP so Tracy can sleep. Yeah... we have to shop in Canada. I love sweatshirts, shirts, mugs that say something on them... like "WASAGA BEACH"! So maybe I won't bring my "ALASKA" sweatshirt so I'll have an excuse to buy a "CANADA" one! OR... maybe "ELVIS"!! Will give you Earl's cell # in Canada. You're assuming he turns it on!! LOL I'll probably have laptop, or at least Blackberry, at the hospital. I will probably be there a few days. Then they said one month at home PT and one month outpatient PT. But I'm going to work hard and hope to get released sooner than that. The rain usually sets in here in Oct and I HATE when that happens!! P.S. I am 4th on waiting list to get surgery moved up if there are any cancellations.

Well, you have us intrigued again about what happened today! Always keeping us in suspense! Glad your dentist gave you good drugs! Sun did come out today and it got up to about 75 I think. DD went in her pool. I'm sorry! It was not THAT hot!! And the pool water is COLD.... like in the 70's! Don't forget your jammies! Candice, you said we were probably going out to eat one night? How dressy do we need to be for that? We're flying Jet Blue.... one bag free, 2nd one is NOT, so I'm packing light... one small bag and probably my rolling backpack.

Lunch went very well. My cabbage salad was a big hit and the crab they brought with them was wonderful. Had a good visit and then they were off across the mountains to Leavenworth. Six weeks from yesterday... my knee surgery. And my friend had hip replacement in the same hospital yesterday. We went to visit her in the late afternoon. She is in a private room with a view of Puget Sound. I want that SAME room when I go in! She was doing well.. esp after they told her she could hit the morphine button every 6 minutes. Somehow they neglected to tell her that until her pain level was off the scale. It's been over 20 years since I did any floor nursing. (My last two jobs were in health insurance.) Things sure have changed a lot! No morphine pumps back in those days. And no computer terminals in the room for the nurses to do their charting.

Good Morning! I'm here.... reading all the posts every day... and lurking. Spent several hours yesterday out riding around the neighborhood on my scooter. I always enjoy that. I was shopping for the best price on things I need to serve lunch to friends from CA who are stopping by today. I made an Asian salad with cabbage, slivered almonds, Craisins, chopped up rotisere chicken (skinned and boned by DH.. that was ALL I let him in the kitchen to do!), and Asian Sesame dressing from Costco. I bought some Angel Food cake squares for strawberry shortcake. They're bringing freshly caught crab, so I have to go get cocktail sauce after my shower. Skipped the one store that has the kind I want yesterday because I'd been out for two hours. Ran in to DD at Safeway, so spent some time with her. Helped her to the car with her groceries by piling them on the scooter, etc. Visited with my latte lady. DH was only on jury duty for ONE DAY! Rules are one trial or one week. So don't you know he got sent to municipal court (vs. county) and put on a short domestic abuse trial. He was on his way home by 3pm. I was actually looking forward to a little alone time this week!! LOL! Oh, well! HE'S BAAAAACCCKK! But he helped with the lunch by getting the dining area ready. He had to get his BIKE out of there for openers! That's all for now, folks! Gotta get in the shower and go get the cocktail sauce. Guests here in 2 hours!

I'll be in Buffalo end of July, 1st of August. PM me if you want to talk.

Yeah, you have to FOLLOW THE RULES to be successful! Journal..... diet, exercise, etc. Keeps you on track when you write everything down. AND GET ALL THE SUGARY STUFF OUT OF THE HOUSE!!
-
Yeah, I had to "do it by myself" quite often. DH was career military, so he was often gone for long stretches. I could tell you some good stories.... fixing my own furnace when I had no clue what I was doing, etc. I was alone for a year when he had a remote tour to Alaska.. four kids between 3 yrs and 9 yrs. VietNam... three kids 6 mos to 3 1/2 yrs. And I sewed a lot of their clothes, too... matching three piece outfits, etc. Good memories, though. You're right about rediscovering the TASTE of food! I've experienced that too since slowing down! I did have two very nice compliments while down "south" yesterday. Don't see SIL that often and he gave me a hug and told me how good I was looking. Then he said "you look more like your mother every time I see you!" I teased him and said, "Alan, she's 87 years old!" He said, "That's not what I mean. She's a tiny little woman!" I do look a lot like my mom and as the fat wastes away, I've noticed that, too. Oh, then a former neighbor of theirs stopped by in the afternoon and he also told me I was looking good... and he's a man of few words!

No partying here. Just exhausted from babysitting grandkids today.. 3 yrs, 6 yrs & 7 yrs. Fixed them lunch, cleaned up the kitchen..... about a years worth of clutter and dirt on the countertops, we took the kids for a walk to the park, came back and they were already hungry for dinner. Thomas started talking about wanting macaroni and cheese three hours after lunch. He ate a whole baloney & cheese sandwich for lunch and the other kids had peanut butter and jelly. I think they're all three going through a growth spurt from what I saw them eat today! And when we were in Seattle the other day, DD bought two 5 piece fish and chips and she was lucky to get something to eat. Kids scarfed up that fish like they were starving. So I was on my feet a LOT today.. Grandpa was hangin' out on the couch. He usually helps a lot with the kids but I think the heat was getting to him today. He did play football with them and push them on the swings when we went to the park, though. So when we got home I was ready for my recliner and a glass of wine! Heated up leftover stroganoff for us before we left DD's so we wouldn't have to cook when we got home.

Yeah, if you're taking insulin, you need some carbs so your blood sugar won't bottom out.

Good Morning! Yeah, Earl is in a better mood. Only pouted for a day this time. So sorry those jerks didn't see fit to acknowledge your THIRTY YEARS of faithful service!! That's OUTRAGEOUS!! Glad you celebrated with people that matter! SIL had BBQ yesterday for people who work for him and invited us over. So... didn't have any wine yesterday, and skipped lunch, but probably ate too much in the afternoon! Hamburger patty on lettuce leaves, 40 cal hot dog, a little pasta salad and a little potato salad. But later I sneaked an unhealthy hot dog, which was really stupid because then I felt miserable... too greasy. No bun, but still too many calories. Later had two small slices of watermelon. Going down to younger DD's today to babysit so they can go to movie. I think we've only done that once since we've been back home. And only a couple of available Saturdays between now and my knee surgery. They've been busy most of the summer so far... helping a friend build a deck. About a half dozen Microsoft geeks trying to build a deck, and they've been working on it for about TWO MONTHS! DS laughs every time he hears about it... says he did his by himself in a weekend! LOL! But these guys... well they had to start by designing it all on computer! And heard they nail a board and then take a 20 minute break! So it's still not done but SIL decided he'd take today off and take us up on our offer to babysit!

Welcome, "Hopeful"! Glad you found us. Good job on the pre-op loss. This is a great place to come for support and encouragement! -
Didn't know that, but I hope I'm not making a mistake letting a local provider take over because I'm not even here about 6 months of the year! Well, I must say we've had several pretty good weeks since the last "pout". He's off cutting lawn for SIL this morning. We'll be interested to hear more about your "procedure" when we get to Canada! So sad that you have to go to M of A again!! Boo Hoo!! I know all about FLABBY!!
