The only name I know of in Tijuana is Dr. Kuri. I've heard their hospitals are excellent and state of the art. Good care, too.

Excuse me???? Not "trailer park"..... RV RESORT!! LOL Taco soup sounds GOOD! Sounds like you had a successful day! Glad you had such a nice visit with Joseph and family! I miss seeing the little ones dressed up for Halloween. Had to settle for a photo on FB! We had Oktoberfest w/potluck and costume contest last night. It was nice, but all over by 7pm! Then ANOTHER potluck after church today! Thankfully, I am really tight this weekend so last night most of what I put on my plate either went to Earl's plate or the trash. Today I put much less on my plate but still couldn't eat it all. Deserts were 95% chocolate. After having to run to the br to pb after two small bites of apple pie, I decided I'd just take a small brownie home with me. So I wrapped it up in a napkin. Shortly after that, Earl unwraps a little chocolate mint patty for himself and then decides he going to go rinse off our silverware in the kitchen. So he says, watch my candy for me. While he's gone, I unwrap my brownie because I accidently spilled a little coffee on the napkin it was wrapped in. Guess what? There's a BIG bite out of my brownie!! He tells me to watch his candy, but while I was up getting some coffee... he ate about a third of my brownie! He apparently thought it was too big for me to eat! So I went and got another one! I'll show him. LOL! I didn't eat it yet, BTW! Water aerobics is over at 10 a.m. but it takes me about 30 minutes in the shower. But I can skip that day so we can get an earlier start. It won't kill me to miss a day.

My knee replacement was Aug. 25th.. a little over 2 mos., and I couldn't be happier. I can walk for an hour or more, longer with a little rest. Since we got to the RV park we stay in for the winter I've been doing water aerobics every morning (one week now), and 3X this past week worked out on stationary bike for 15 minutes. It has really made my legs stronger already in just a few days time. Hope you start to see a major improvement in tolerance and healing very soon.

Oktoberfest without the beer here at the RV park. Potluck at 5:30 pm and costume contest. We don't dress up but it's fun to see all those that do. Downs syndrome gal... about 40ish won the pumpkin carving conest last year and she was absolutely thrilled! She grinned for the rest of the evening and every now and then would poke her Mom and say, "I WON!!" It was a delight to watch her.

Didn't barf in the pool, but was up half the night doing that! I slimed, pb'd and just plain barfed from about 7 pm - 1 am! Lamb chop apparently wasn't a good thing. Sure tasted good. It was 3-4 oz and I had broccoli with it.. which I mashed up and Earl put a little queso on top. I chewed really good. BUt.... got stuck anyway and it was a miserable night. Lesson learned! Nice sunny day here... 61 at 8:40 a.m. Don't know what that is Celsius! Hope you all have a great day!

Lori, are you taking pain pill before PT?? My doctor's P.A. told me in no uncertain terms both before surgery and at discharge... take a pain pill BEFORE Pt because they WILL HURT YOU!! And I'd go straight home... visit Grandma another time (LOL) and get the leg up and put an ice bag on it!!! I iced my knee FREQUENTLY, almost up until the time we left in the RV... so... about 6 weeks. It really helps with the swelling. Enjoy the pampering!! I've done an hour of Water aerobics every morning this week, and 3 days of 15 minute session on stationary bike. Legs feel stronger already! All the doctors are different! I was never told I couldn't eat before a fill, so always had Breakfast and coffee before I went in. Not telling you to go against doctor's instructions, though.. so if they're saying don't eat, then don't eat. But since liquids go right through, I don't see any eason why you couldn't have coffee before you go.

Sounds like you had a very valuable session! That's great! Okay... the 13th it is! Looking forward to it. Will have to skip water aerobics to go early. Told Earl he can go... Or NOT! Thinking he'll opt for NOT. We can have dinner here... our place or restaurant, when we get back if you want. I know about the orientals! Hotel I'm recommending for all of you for next summer is about a mile from a HUGE outlet mall that also has a Coach store and there is usually a line outside the store waiting to get in because they only let so many in at a time! Unbelievable!! A lot of orientals vacation in the Pacific NW. So glad you could stop by here!! We know how very busy you are!! I hope you can make it in March!! That would be GREAT!! You have to be here on either a Thursday night (Palm Springs street fair) or weekend... College of the Desert street fair!! We could shop til we drop!! TOO FUNNY!! I had a GREAT day today! Water aerobics was good... worked hard. Then hot tub, then shower.... probably wrong order, but then I went on the bike again for 15 minutes. Changed to a more challenging program that worked me out HARD! Then lunch and in to DesertHot Springs becuase apparently I picked up a screw in a NEW tire when I went shopping by myself the otehr day. At least, I got blamed for it!! LOL! So went shopping again and got two blouses and another bathing suit. With two suits I have one less excuse for not going to the hot tub/pool with Earl at night!! That's sometiems my only alone time ALL day!! But it's a pretty brown and gold and I really like it. So guess I'm going to the pool in a little while!! Anyways, after that, it was time for our first choir practice, so I had Ealrl drop me off at the chapel. Told him I'd either walk home or hitch a ride. Well, theonly person I could've hitched a ride with stoped to tell myhow good it was to see my walking, so I couldn't ask her to take me home!! So I walked all the way.. i think it's at least 1/2 mile. So, BOY, did I get my exercise in today!! Earl grilled me a lamb chop outside for dinner. I have some great mint sauce from Albertson's that I put on it. Had some broccoli with it, a little queso on top. But now I think I may lose some of it!! Feel about ready to pb!! Yuck!! Going to the pool and hot tub! BYE!! Hoping I don't barf in the water!! LOL

I can remember fun times like that, too... both growing up and with our kids. Good memories! When we were kids, those horrific middle of the night thunderstorms... we'd all get up and go in the living room. My dad would play the piano and we'd all sing. I taught our kids silly songs, too....sometimes one that i made up!

Got this from "Mango" yesterday (Denise): After being interviewed by the school administration, the prospective teacher said: > 'Let me see if I've got this right. > > > 'You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor their T-shirt messages, and instill in them a love for learning. > 'You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self esteem and personal pride. > 'You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a checkbook, and apply for a job. > 'You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behavior, and make sure that they all pass the final exams. > 'You also want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicaps, and communicate regularly with their parents in English, Spanish or any other language, by letter, telephone, newsletter, and report card. > 'You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board, a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps. > 'You want me to do all this and then you tell me: "I CAN'T PRAY"????

Good afternoon, all!! Busy morning and I didn't get to LBT! TOPS day.. my first time since we got back. I was down another 1.1 lb since my Wii weigh in on Tues... Wii agreed with it! 201.5!! Hmmm..... when did you say we could go to Cabazon, Janet??? LOL! I don't even know if I really want one but I had a wonderful time this morning telling Earl he is a pound and a half away from buying me a Coach purse!! Hee Hee Hee! He cringed! Then he said we'd get one at the PX (29 Palms)! They don't have a great selection there, but they have some. I'll look there if we get there soon, but I'm thinkin' Cabazon!! (Outlet Mall) I am pretty impressed with how much stronger my legs are after just a couple of days of water aerobics. Monday I tried to see if I could step up to the first step with my left leg coming out of the pool. I couldn't do it without using both arms to pull myself up. Tried again today... no problem with just one arm steadying myself. So I practiced it some more when I got in the hot tub. Then after all that I went back on the stationary bike for 15 minutes. Oh... weight recorder checked my log and said I've lost exactly 20 lb since my last weigh in here 6 mos ago. That's not too bad for 6 months. Steph, hope you're day is not too traumatic! I've been thinking about what you said about "playing". I don't think I ever played dolls, colored or stuff like that with the kids when they were growing up. But I do some of that with the grandkids. And we did play board games and stuff. But in some ways, I've never really grown up! LOL! So I always did silly game playing stuff with them. And still do that with the grandkids... pretend game type stuff. Like last month when we were watching the grandkids.. they expect us to take them to the park when we're there... there are two within a couple of blocks. So we stopped at the first one and they got bored with it pretty quick and wanted to go down to the next one. Well, Thomas gets easily distracted and then he is totally focused on that distraction. This time it was something that he dropped (that was imaginary!) and he was trying to find it. So I stayed behind and humored him a while. But then he startd saying the monsters were coming to get us! AH.... clever Grandma quickly realized that this was the way to get him to MOVE~!! So I hammed it up good... YEAH... the monsters are coming! And I got him to run all the way up to the other playground... told him Grandpa would get the monsters when we got there. And we squealed and carried on all the way down the street! And that's the way "I" play... let myself get silly and immature! So maybe some... I don't know.. would you call that "role playing".... would help.. with the little ones, anway. Teenagers... that's another story! HAH~! I guess I did okay when the kids went through that phase because we always had a lot of kids hangin' at our house. But as a rule, teenagers SCARE me!! LOL! LindaA, if you're lurking around... hope you had a good birthday this week! Karla... was talking to someone yesterday when the subject of kids and cell phones came up. I told them your garage story! This person told me that when they have a family dinner... kids have to put their cell phones in a basket so they aren't texting under the table to each other or to their friends. Our oldest grandson is bad that way. Every time we ever go out to eat and he's with us... someone's birthday or something.. he is constantly texting on his phone to his girlfriend... unless she's with us, too. Annoying! Okay... now I"m brain dead and can't remember any of the other posts. I guess I should start writing things down!

    New 60+ Thread

LOL! I redid that ticker MONTHS ago and you are the first one to GET IT!! Yep, spent a lot of money on new clothes and gave away about a ton and a half I think!! Keeping track of all of it... that IS tax deductible, at least!! Sheez... I've even had some of my SHOES get too big! I have always had small, thin feet... but I guess they got smaller and thinner! Unfortunately, the rest of my legs are getting smaller VERY slowly! So my balance is not too good! Skinny feet and lower legs, then...shins BALLOON out and thighs... forget it!

    I'm here to help...

We are all here to help you however we can. Just posting here makes you part of this community. So sorry you are not getting any support from your clinic. Why is it you are feeling like a failure after only three weeks?? You are still in the recovery/healing phase and should not expect to be dropping a lot of weight at this point. Usually, you will get your first "fill" 4-5 weeks after your surgery. I had 3 in the first few months. Right now you have little or now restriction because you haven't had any fills. Has your clinic given you a schedule of how they want you to eat in this initial post-op period?? Generally that is 1-2 weeks of liquids, then full liquids, then "mushies" before you progress to more normal food. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have and share whatever is on your heart. ALL of us are here to help you! Welcome!!

SNOW!!?? I couldn't handle that. I'd be scared to death to walk outside! I'm still really careful about where I walk because I have balance issues! You will find your pain subsiding a little each day. Even yesterday... after I did Water aerobics and the stationary bike... I thought I needed to take something for pain.. It wasn't BAD pain, but there was some discomfort in the knee after all that exercise. But after a short rest, I was fine and never did take anything. I'm using ibuprofen when I need something.. just use a lot of crystal lite to get it down and use it very sparingly. As far as the numbness and weirdness, don't be expecting that to go away any time soon. I had a partial on my right knee about 6 years ago and there is still a small area that feels weird... can't really say numb, but reduced sensation. And quite a large area around my left knee feels like that, and I still have reduced sensation in my left heel... which no one has been able to explain. But, yes, they are very rough on your leg. My whole leg was black and blue from the knee down all the way around. I watched two surgeries on OR-live.com before I had my surgery. So I knew what they were going to do.

Good Morning! So much hoping everyone has a better day today. Hope you're feeling better soon, Steph. And so sorry for the depression you and Kari are dealing with. I guess we've all been there, so we can relate. Very windy and much cooler this morning and we considered not going to the pool, but decided to tough it out. Earl went up about 30 minutes ago to swim laps and told me if it was too cold he'd come back and we'd just go up and use the exercise room. He didn't come back so I guess it's not too bad. Temp outside is 52 and wind is not as bad as yesterday afternoon! I will wear my swim sweater! Yesterday, CD player was still locked up when I got there...so today I better go a little early as I imagine attendance will be way down this morning and may be no one to get it out again. Yesterday they all claimed they didn't know the combination... so I told them what it was! No more excuses! Except they'll say they forgot!!
