Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Good Morning, Ladies! Yes, I was noticing last night that this thread has been very quiet lately! And there used to be a LOT more folks on this thread. Don't know where everyone has gone. You're right, Eva... long haul! No quick fix! I've been working on this for 28 months now! Still plugging along. It's worth it! Off to the pool for water aerobics soon. I offered to make copies of the CD we use for someone, but now I can't remember what thread it was let alone WHO it was!! :w00t::smile: If it was someone here, please let me know so I can do it! And PM address to me so I can mail it.

Wow, Karla! YOu have made great progress! Anxious to see the pictures. Long day today.. Had to drive to the Marine base for a Dr. appt. It was really kind of a pain... needed a follow up letter from a doctor so Medicare would pay for my new CPAP machine. But I saw a really sweet lady... young Navy doc, and it ended up being quite productive. She is emailing my provider so the machine gets paid for, she sent me to the lab to check my urine to make sure last week's bladder infection is gone, she told me it's okay to go see an optometrst without a referral.. about the spot in front of my right eye that refuses to go away, and she is looking in to the possibility of getting me a referral to the Navy hospital in Balboa for plastic surgery! That was the most exciting thing. We were just chatting... she wanted to know if I'd had any recent surgeries so I told her about my knee replacement and my band surgery and how much weight I'd lost. Then I started whining about the excess skin and told her about the ortho doc's reluctance to do my knee because of that and the excess fat in my thighs. So she said she'd had a recent email regarding plastic surgery and she thought I might be a good candidate. She couldn't find the email so she said she'd call me after she looks in to it further. At any rate... it was a long day... left here just before 8 a.m. and got home well after 3 p.m. Long drive, but I got in a lot of reading! I'm reading a Michael Crichton book... over 650 pages! State of Fear.. basic premise is that the whole "global warming" thing is a crock of bull and he supports it all with well documened facts. i never saw so many footnotes in a fictional book! Very interesting. Gotta go watch "House"! Hugs!

I did watch that GMA segment after you posted about it. I always record GMA, but usually delete without watching! I usually do okay with sweets.... okay, forget what I told you about Wed. night and the cookies/brownie and milk! I guess, truth be told, I do fine because there's nothing here! I do have my 60 calorie puddings, and I'm always satisfied with just one, or fudgcicles when we have them. But cookies, I would not do well with so good thing we just don't buy them. My current problem is sticking to one small glass of wine becaue I always want a 2nd. We're both going to work on that this week! LOVE the picture!!

GOOD MORNING! I stayed up until after midnight, but still wide awake a little after 6 a.m. Pulled the covers over my head and stayed in bed until 7 though! Yesterday was a VERY fun day! I loved it! I NEVER get to go places w/GFs!! It was GREAT, and only ONE call from Earl while we were gone!! LOL! GEEZ... Red Hats luncheon I went to a few weeks ago he called about three times. The last time the "Queen" said, GIVE ME THAT PHONE! So I did and she answered it and said, "Hello, this is the QUEEN..." LOL! It was pretty funny. I'm glad you're comfortable hanging out with us. That's a really nice compliment! We enjoyed having you here, too.. Yes, you'll have to figure out a time to hike with him... he's a very early riser, so shouldn't be a probelm to get an early start. Let's see, where can I shop that early in the morning while you're gone??? HAH! Well, gang... hope you all have a GREAT Saturday. Don't work TOO hard, Karla, but take advantage of those DDs there to help you! Steph, sounds like you have a bazaar today. Hope you sell lots of carmel corn and have a great time. Candice, hope you're feeling better SOON!! Who did I miss??? Jackie, Linda, are you lurking, Kari?? Karri???

Had a great time shopping at the outlet mall with Janet. We bought 5 purses between us, and Janet got a pair of shoes and sunglasses. Now we're sitting here relaxing while Earl BBQs some steaks for us. He had table all set for dinner when we got back, and wine and cheese for afternoon snack. We (I) SPOILED! First two pictures of us from today, last photo is from 2 years ago when we first met.

Got back from shopping about an hour ago. Thought I'd post these photos of Janet & I that Earl took. One is from just about exactly 2 yrs ago, the other this morning. Oh... and I think we bought about 6 purses between us. I bought a large, medium and small!! The plum purses are mine, the others and the sunglasses are Janet's.

I know you're right... it'll drop back off again. Yeah, it was pretty unusual for me to drink that much in one day. I usually empty the bottle during water aerobics. Then DH fills it up and I drink that during 1/2 hr in the hot tub. But yesterday, when he came out of the shower after 15 minutes, I'd emptied it again. So he filled it up again, and in another 15 minutes it was empty again. So I filled it up once more and took it in to the exercise room with me while I rode the bike. I think I drank 1/2 of that. Then drank another full bottle while I worked in the activities office, and then some more in the evening. So we'll have a good time tomorrow and forget today! My priorities.. Coach purse and Starbucks, and whatever Janet's got on her list! When we get back, DH is going to BBQ filet's for us. He got some mushrooms tonight to sautee with mushrooms. Let's hope the wind cooperates. Heard on the weather that we're going to get another "inside slider"! I think that means cold wind from the north that sneaks down the mountain passes!

Well, I did NOT have a good weigh in this morning and I am back over 200! I was only .8 under last week, so that's not so shocking, but it was a fairly significant gain for one week... 4 lb. And I really can't explain it. Yes, I had some carbs on Tues.. ladies' luncheon, but I didn't pig out! Then there were the adult beverages... patio party last weekend, and snacks there, but that was dinner and I didn't pig out there either.. and I had LOTS of ladies watching what i was eating! I could use all the cliche's..... exercise = building muscle, retaining fluid, etc. Might be retaining some fluid.... bladder inf. last week screwed me up, taking antibiotics. And yesterday I emptied my 16 oz jug 5X , plus several cups of coffee, and I KNOW I didn't pee that much! AT any rate, it is a little discouraging. And I don't feel like I deserve a COACH purse, but I'm probably going to get one tomorrow anyway!! Because it'll be back off in a hurry! I have been working at finding daytime things to do so I'm not sitting around on the couch every day. Today I joined the book club here at the park. Wed afternoons I'm working in the activities office, Fridays I have choir practice! These things will get me out of the RV, which will be especially good on those chilly, windy days. Okay... true confessions over for now!!

Thanks, Karla! I'm really not THAT creative!! LOL! Teacher had us do something simple this first class, so all I had to do was choose the colors... I wanted "Red Hat" theme so I picked the reddish beads with light purple crystals. Then we put together another "kit" for me to make one with the opposite colors... purple beads, bright red crystals. That one I will use for gift for our Red Hat Christmas party. Have to get some tools at WalMart so I can make it. Quite simple... this first project, but have to have a couple of tools...like needle nose, but not with grooves so can't use Earl's! TOPS weigh in this morning... we'll see how it goes but Wii Fit was NOT very encouraging! It said I was UP!! I was less than a pound under 200 last week, so I'm afaid I may drift over this week! Last week the Wii weighed me heavier than the TOPS scale, so I can always hope, but it doesn't look good!

LOL! Sorry! Many years of Scrabble! My three sisters and I are fanatics.... and taught by a pro... our Aunt Genny! She was really GOOD! We rarely beat her. She used to make up words and then dare us to challenge her. Never failed.... if you let it go, at he end she'd say... ha, ha, fooled you! But if you challenged her.... it would be a legal word and then you lose your turn! Mom likes Scrabble, too, but she's not as sharp as she used to be. Glad you had a good first night. Hope tomorrow is even better. You wanted to see a picture of my first beading project. So, here it is!

Hey... I'm the oldest... and you want me to remember something we did a YEAR ago!??? LOL! I think it was 5 lb before the end of the year, or maybe between Thanksgiving and the end of the year??? But don't remember if we included exercise or not. But I'm challenging myself to at least 20 days of exercise a month. Hope to exceed that. If I walk at least 20-25 minutes, I'm counting it. But no matter how much I exercise in one day... I'm counting it as one. Like this morning... 1 hr of water aerobics, 15 minutes of stationary bike... counted it as one. So at the end of the month it will be a tally of how many DAYS I exercised, not minutes or miles, etc. In TOPS we log everything as miles. Every 30 minutes of vigorous exercise is counted as 1 mile. So water aerobics is 2 miles. Today I tried hard to come up with an excuse to go in to town... either DHS or Palm Desert... WalMart, KMart, etc. What I really wanted was a Starbucks. But couldn't pull it off... Earl had too many reasons why I shouldn't go. So then... I end up being a couch potato ALL day! I even forgot to go back up and get the mail. It wasn't sorted yet first time I went up. SO now I'm mad that I didn't just grab my purse and say "Bye! See ya later, Dude!" Tomorrow will be very busy. Usually get done with my morning routine about 11:30 a.m. if I go on the bike. No time for that tomrrow. That beading class I want to go to is at 11 a.m., then there's a ladies' luncheon at noon... will probably go eat and hear the speaker and go back to beading if they're still there. Wed. I'm working in Activities al afternoon, and I'm thinking of joining the book club... Thurs at 1 p.m.! Then Friday.... SHOPPING at the outlet mall with Janet!!

Love it! That's great! Sorry your day got off to a frustrating start, but sounds like you made the best of it and it turned out to be a blessing! Hope all goes well with the Grandma issues. She sounds like a sweetheart. She still walking every day?? I think you posted over the weekend and made reference to getting 130 degrees flexion in your knee... or somebody's knee... just an FYI you might want to inquire about, but my therapist said the doctors don't want you to go beyond 125 degrees because the hardware isn't designed for more than that. I'm not sure where I was a when I left WA, but I think it was 113. Might be more now with all the exercise I'm doing. Walked home from chapel again yesterday. Water aerobics for an hour this morning and then 15 minutes on the stationary bike. But now.... SITTING all afternoon. I tried to make excuses to go in to town.. mostly wanted a STARBUCKS, but DH kept arguing with me. Then I fell asleep, and now it's a little late to go out. Plus he just poured me a glass of wine! Rest of the week is BUSY, so no latte opportunity until Janet & I go to the outlet mall on Friday. Plan on a Starbucks stop, Janet!!

Good Morning! Yeah, try to stay busy but some days are long and boring! I want to start beading class tomorrow but that starts at 11 a.m., which would be RIGHT after water aerobics and my 30 min soak in the hot tub. AND, there's a ladies' luncheon at noon and the speaker is in our water aerobics class. I want to hear her.. she's the local rabbis wife... Messianic Jew. So I have to figure out how to get all that in! And it looks like I've volunteered to sit in the Activities office on Wed. afternoons for about 2 1/2 hrs! Offered to do it last Wed. and now she asked me to do it again this week. Not sure if it's now "permanent", but if so, I don't mind. I read 100 pages of my book that day! Candice, take it easy today! Hope you're feeling better soon. Costa Rica idea is sounding better every day. Just not sure I could ever sell it to Earl, but there's time! Maybe!

That's been happening to me a lot. Or elastic waist with drawstring and you have to pull the drawstring as tight as you can so the pants will stay up. That's when it's time to go shopping!

Just popping by to say "HI"! Beautiful day here in the desert! We had our lunch out on the patio. I wore my SIZE 16 pants to church this morning... they ARE 16W, which may mean they're "roomier" than a normal size 16.. I don't really know what 16W means. They are petites so the length is just about perfect. I'm still having people tell me how great I look... that feels pretty good. Some German lady crossed the street to tell me that when we were walking home this morning.. I have no idea who she was! But I guess she's been around a while.... long enough to see me "before"! Oh, yeah.... I was walking, Earl rode the scooter back! I had to ride it over because I'm always running late and I had to get there 1/2 hr early for choir. I did walk all the way back with no hip pain! So Earl took some flack from friends going by us in their golf carts because he was riding and I was walking! They teased him pretty good!

LOL!! I guess I wasn't THAT buzzed! Mall today.. first time since knee surgery to shop at the mall. Took the scooter... parked by Macy's end when I wanted to go to Penney's. Found out when we got inside that it was at the exact opposite end! So off we went... and I shopped and shopped. Penney's was having a sale and all their Alfred Dunner stuff was on sale.... I really like their styles and fabrics. I was still on a search for black dress pants. So I found some I liked. Tried on Size 18... too big! Went back out and got size 16. Held them up in the dressing room and thought... NO WAY!! But... put one leg in, then the other... pulled them up!! THEY FIT!! Took them back off... checked the tags.. inside and out a few more times to make sure they were really a size 16!! I'm sure there are a lot of size 16's that I couldn't get on, but the 18's I just started wearing about 2 weeks ago are feeling a little baggy, so I guess I'm going to skip on by the 18's! That was exciting. After all that... Earl was whining that he was tired. I said, you have a hangover, sweetheart! Finally let him have the scooter. So I walked the length of the mall and back to the car so he could ride! Then he dropped me off at Home Depot and I walked across to Starbucks.
