Yeah... roofing party would be GREAT!! Get ladies to bring food, men that aren't afraid of heights.. whole thing could be done in one weekend. People love helping each other like that. WIND... are you kidding me?? You bet we're getting it! Two days now and Earl says it's not stopping until Thurs! Almost skipped water aerobics this morning, but... put on my swim sweater and went. There were almost 20 of us... 4 chickened out early, including Earl, and NO ONE showed up for the 10 a.m. class. I came home from ladies' luncheon/beading at 3:30 p.m. and Earl had the door and all the windows closed! That never happens! If the sun is out, everything is open even if I"m sitting here freezing!! LOL And HE took the car over to the chapel for a lecture this morning! I was riding the scooter around in the cold wind today.... two round trips up to the club house! Brrrrrr! Two pairs of earrings yesterday and the 2nd one was really hard. So I went to the Tues. beading after the luncheon cuz I knew I'd need help getting the 2nd one started... took me 3 1/2 hrs to do ONE earring! So it was either going to have to be a pendant, or I needed help starting the 2nd one! Unfinished projects??? I don't know WHAT you are talking about!! HAHAHA!! I have so many unfinished beading projects that last night I was reorganizing my beading bag and I couldn't even remember what one of them was!! Usually bag up my work with the pattern for that project... I didn't do it with that one... plus it's not even really started... so I may need teacher's help figuring out what in the world I was going to make!!

Get a laptop.. set up a network!! LOL!

Hey, Candice! Glad you're back! We missed you! Karla.... sorry about all the drama with the house. Was hoping you'd have an answer today. Maybe you can get together a "work party" to help with your roof. We did ours ourselves once about 15 years or so ago, with the help of several friends. Had a great group of friends and we'd help each other with stuff like that. Building a barn, helping people move, etc. The gals would swing a hammer as well as prepare food for everyone, or we'd order pizza or something. It was fun. I've had a busy day... Water aerobics, hot tub, shower and on to beading. Did two pair of earrings today. First one took about 15 minutes! 2nd pair took about 3 1/2 hours!! And that was only ONE earring. When it was almost 3 pm I decided I'd had enough. Packed it all up and left. Have to make the other earring! It was a hard pattern! And now I realized, bracelet kit I took on the cruise with me... I never worked on it. Earl unpacked EVERYTHING and I have no idea where he put it. First pair of earrings I made today... I used the colors in that bracelet I didn't yet make... and now I have no clue where he put the little baggie I had it in. And my scissors were in there too, as well as the pattern. UGH! He unpacked everything so fast... he's like a big vacuum cleaner sometimes. And he does it so fast he has no clue where he put anything either! So.. got home about 3 pm, watched some Judge Judy, had my wine, and it was dinner time! Oh... also cleaned out my beading bag and reorganized everything.. making sure the missing "kit" wasn't in there!

We love Corned Beef and cabbage, too. Maybe we should get one and have Earl cook it for us while we're shopping Friday. No promises, but I'll ask him. Yeah, there's nothing I can do about it. I just don't like the sneaking behind my back and lying about it. Love the cake story!! Great idea! Junking up the thread!! Too funny! We LUB you, too!! Congrats on the 5K! You're doing GREAT!! So sorry about the challenges you've faced the past few years. But things will be better soon! You are moving in the right direction! YOU WON!!! :thumbup::w00t::thumbup::w00t:

I sure can relate to that.... my DH has been "pretending" that he doesn't smoke for most of our marriage... 45 years!! LOL He hides his cigarettes. If I ask him if he's smoking he always says the same thing, "I don't have any", which means I'm not holding any in my hand right now. I guess he thinks I can't smell! But, yeah, what I really hate is the deception.

Hi, All! Hope you are having a pleasant Sunday afternoon. It's raining here in the desert AGAIN, and very COLD!! I'm going to get up and turn the heater up... in a minute! Walked in the Memory Walk for Alzheimer's research yesterday. Almost 2 miles... I took one little short cut! A very big accomplishment for me! It was exhilerating!! ME.... walking in a fund raiser!! WOW!! I didn't know you meant a REAL helicopter until I looked at the pictures!! That was BRAVE!! Sorry Nels isn't feeling well again! Hope he's better soon! Congrats on the 220! I'm still below 200, but struggling to getout of the 90's and making very slow progress! Church potluck we just went to did not do much to bolster my success! LOL! Your approach to food re: Nels is wise! My parents "pushed food" on me the first few years of my life as i was a very skinny little toddler. So I apparently was brainwashed in to thinking that eating was the way to get approval. Then as I started to get "chubby", my Dad bugged me about eating too much all the time. I remember unpleasant dinner time scenes with him telling me, "NO MORE!"and my Mom saying, "leave her alone!" Mixed messages!! Think I read on FB about a week ago that Meredith was moving in to her house last weekend. We just saw that movie last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it! Very funny!! DH liked it, too, but understand that someone who has been through a divorce might not find it amusing! LOL Karen, so VERY, VERY sorry for your loss! Please know I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers! HUGS!!

Hi! Quick post... gotta go get in the shower or I'll be late for choir practice before church! I did GREAT in the walk.... walked almost the whole two miles. Took a little shortcut towards the end. Had to sit down and rest once for a couple of minutes.... hips were hurting. BUt once I rested.... stopped hurting. Very happy! Photos on FB.

I think the chance of rain tomorrow is pretty high... Saturday through Sunday morning. The walk is at the Palm Desert Civic Park. Heck... it seems to be clouding up already!!

Yes, it does look like a beautiful day in the desert. I am so glad the wind is gone! Hope it's nice tomorrow for the Alzheimer's walk. The weather report says it might rain! Here is what Earl had to do to grill steaks in the wind last night.

Yep... wind was terrible here today!! Only made it through the first 20 minutes of water aerobics! I was FREEZING and the 2nd 20 minute segment is mostly poolside exercises and not active enough to keep warm! So I went in the hot tub along with two others. Four ladies made it through the whole hour. Okay.... next Friday. And when I forget what the date is, I just have to look at my watch! :smile2::tt1::w00t: Watching Idol! Earl was complaining about Costco today,too... not having things that we usually buy. I have a theory, but just a guess. They have laid off all their demonstrators and contracted that out... notice the black polos, red aprons and red baseball caps?? So I think maybe that has changed some of the brands they are buying, and they've rearranged a lot of stuff. Musical was GREAT!! Hilarious!! There were 18 or 19 of us from Sky Valley... 3 carloads. Then one of the gals had us over for wine, tea, etc afterward. So I didn't get home until 11 pm! But I didn't get in trouble this time.

Yeah... the earthquakes are getting a little scary, aren't they??? What did Al Gore do now?? You're gonna be okay! Just keep hangin' in there!! Rest, Chill out, this is all going to settle down soon. Janet, is that this Friday or next Friday??

Let me add my CONGRATS to yours.... way to go, Laura!! I agree... this website is a lifeline for me, too! Rewards..... massage is nice.... don't think I'd like it, but I know many who love it. My 100 lb reward... earrings... diamond studs! Then Coach purse for hitting "Onederland". I am going to see "Menopause the Musical" toight with a bunch of ladies from our RV park. Really looking forward to it. It's a musical spoof on menopause using reworded songs from the 50's, 60's and 70's. I heard it's hilarious. Later, Chicks!!

Lunch and visit sounds okay. We could always go back to Cabazon... no more Coach purses right now, but I could buy a couple more bottles of that Raspberry Wasabi Mustard! LOL! And then get Earl to BBQ us some filets!! Good trick.. copy/paste! I wish I had more time to respond to everyone else but supposed to be in Activities in 7 minutes!! Hi, Steph! Thanks for the Alzheimer's donation! Appreciate it! Yep I'm going to try the whole 2 mile walk! I think I can do it. I sent crabby pants an email reminding him I had beading today, and letting him know we were invited to a Margarita Party next door this afternoon. AND, he asked me in the hot tub this morning if I wanted him to make me a salad for lunch. So I said no.. I won't be home for lunch. I'm going to beading. I tooka Kashi bar with me. So.... I get home from beading at 3 pm (made two rings) and he says, "Hmmmph! Thought you were gone to LUNCH again!" And then he says, "you still haven't apologized to me for yesterday!" I about came unglued!! Told him he'd be waiting a LONG time for an apology because HE was the one who needed to apologize!! Sorry.... I am venting!! I was so pissed! When he figured out how mad I was he finally apologized. But, in the meantime.... I decided I needed to flex my muscles a little, so while I was up at beading, I used the beautician's phone to call and reserve myself a seat for "Menopause the Musical" for tomorrow night. A bunch of ladies from the park are going... I invited myself to go with them!! I think I was gone when they were making these plans. So I"m waiting for a call back to see if one of them still has a seat left in their car. I am just breaking THAT news to him now!! Gave him the ad from the paper to read. He's studying it... especially the $50 part!! HAHAHAHA!!

Good Morning! Looks like another beautiful day in the desert! Just PB'd on my coffee... right in to my lap! What fun----coffee slime! Sorry.... TMI!! Prompted by a coughing fit.... cough still holding on even though other symptoms are gone. Not bad, but always troublesome in the morning. Good thing I had a box of kleenex within reach! Earl spoke this morning... as he went out the door.... are you ready for this.... "SEE YOU AT THE POOL"!! WOW!! There was a hidden message in it, I'm sure... because I was 5 minutes late yesterday and he HATES when that happens!! LOL! Let's see... do I remind him that it's beading day or just not show up back at the RV until 2 or 3 pm after the pool!?? Decisions, decisions!! HAHAHA! I'm SO bad!

Yeah... can you believe it. He didn't say one word to me from the time I got home until he went to bed around 10 p.m. After about an hour of his pouting, I took my glass of wine and went next door and sat outside with the neighbors! When I came back, he'd closed the door and ate dinner without me! Whatever! What a baby! So I heated up some leftovers and ignored him. Outing... I'd say back to Temecula and tour some other wineries, but.... can't drink and drive!! So will have to think of something else. But probably 3/12 would be best because I'll have to skip choir practice and by 3/26 we'll be heavy in to the Easter music. Sounds like everything is going smoothly with the house deals! Good interest rate. It will be great if you can come in July!

Yep... just have to keep working at it. I'm trying hard to ramp up my walking... new knee last August, so I am much more able to walk than I was before and no longer relying on my electric scooter everywhere I go! In fact, I'm walking in a 2 mile walkathon for Alzheimer's on Saturday. First time I have EVER tried anything like that and I'm fairly confident I can finish it. We constantly have to face challenges... mine are mostly social. So, be as prepared as you can be! Today went out to lunch at a BBQ place with my Red Hat group. I LOVE BBQ!! But I found a 1/2 BBQ salad on the menu that allowed me to have my BBQ and still keep it fairly healthy. Used more salad dressing than I probably should have, but I wasn't eating pulled pork sandwiches and sweet potato fries like most of the other ladies!

Hi, Well, LOVED Babe's and had an enjoyable afternoon. I ordered a 1/2 BBQ salad... it was yummy. It came with a little tiny loaf of cornbread. I ate two skinny slices and brought the rest home. Probably used too much salad dressing, but at least I wasn't eating sandwiches and huge piles of sweet potato fries like everyone else was. There were a few who ordered salads similar to mine, and one gal ordered a whole salad! It was HUGE... like family sized! So, after that I decided to stop at Target, then Best Buy, then went looking for a beading store my friends told me about. Found it but it was closed!! :hurray: So then I stopped by to check out the new location of the scooter store we used to go to for servicing my electric scooter... and bought one from him a few years ago. I had an ulterior motive. I am in this online photography group and the assignment for March is to take pictures of "Modes of Transportation", so I'm trying to be creative and not get the usual trains, planes and automobiles! Yesterday I did golf carts. You can only submit one photo a day. Anyway, after that i stopped to get me a Starbucks... SF FF. And I parked in the parking lot to call Earl and let him know I was on my way home. That's when my day went down the toilet!! He was very angry because I'd been gone so long and proceeded to chew me out! So.... I got home at 4 p.m. and he's not speaking to me. At least he didn't lock me out... My neighbor with Alzheimer's does that to his wife when she's gone longer than he thinks she should be. But... if he thinks HE'S mad.... wait until he tries to pretend everything is FINE!! :w00t::biggrin::biggrin::banghead: Because I am SUPER pissed! Steph.... so glad you're checking in with us again. I don't think I could tackle quilts, but then I didn't think I could do beading either, esp with my pathetic arthritic fingers, but I do just fine. And, oh yeah.... that's where I'm going to be TOMORROW afternoon and I think I'll stay SUPER LONG!! I missed last week so I have to make up for that! We're doing rings this week, but last week they did little tiny purses... like to make a pendant and earrings. So I will be learning two projects tomorrow. And, yes, a busy week... and I even forgot to include choir practice on Friday afternoon. But... we only have another month here, so we need to try to get together again before we leave. Good Morning! I don't think I have the stamina to do that kind of long distance driving! We always take the 210 also, for the same reason... too much traffic. Kind of funny because our GPS doesn't know the 210 goes all the way to I-10 now so "he" keeps trying to make us take an exit and cut down to 10. Finally gives up after about 5 miles or so & shuts up! This week..... Red Hats luncheon at Babe's after Water aerobics today. Never been there and hoping I find something healthy on their menu. Might look at it online real quick before I go to the pool but I only have a few minutes left. I'll be in high gear when I get back getting ready to leave! Tuesday.... beading after water aerobics, Wed.... volunteer in Activities office from noon to 2pm, Thurs.... going to lunch (again) with old (and I do mean OLD) friends from our Winnebago club in Oklahoma who are in the area at an RV park in Indio. Friday..... nothing, I think. Saturday... WALKING in Alzheimer's fund raiser in Palm Desert... "Memory Walk". Evening- Night Bloomin' Jazzmen performing here... dixieland type music. sort of a busy week Yes, Steph... HUGS!
