Trying to get my water in, but not too motivated to do anything today. The temp is back to normal, though, so that's a good thing! Think this will be short-lived. Aches and pains, headache, but no new symptoms. That was a wild ride last night! I think it was DD who gave it to me. She needed her butt kicked before that!!

And we want to see a picture of you in that cowgirl hat!! I am not having a good day. About 5pm last night I started shivering and shaking... I thought I was just cold because the sun was going down and it was getting chilly in here. But I couldn't stop shaking for two hours. My hands were like ice cubes and hurt really bad. DH wrapped me up in my electric throw blanket and then a heating pad for my hands. I shook so bad all my muscles and joints were hurtiing. When I got warmed up the shaking stopped, but I had a temp of over 102. So, I went to bed. this morning... 100+, headache and generalized aches and pains. someone gave me the flu!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Yes, that happens. Have to slow down.... small bites, eat slow. Stop when you start to feel full.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

That would be a tough transition. At least, when the weather is crappy here, I can count the months until we go south again! And we do enjoy our times with the grandkids, and our daughters (even though one is being a butt head right now.) It seems like we've been getting just a short time of sunshine every day...well, not EVERY day, but most days. It's very rarely been over 60 degrees since we've been back (2 wks). I'm ready for some warm weather.

Yeah, I remember that, too! One of my earliest attempts at weight loss before I got married! My Aunt Genny got me some in Canada. I didn't sleep for days and finally had to quit them. I think that exercise plan is right on!! My water: I think I've only had about 24 oz of Crystal Lite/coffee so far. Still working on it but having my little glass of wine right now. I have to add my two cents about the mucinex.... I did a lot of research on ADHD or, as they used to call it, hyperactivity, when our youngest son was in grade school because he'd been diagnosed with it. One of the things I remember coming up more than once is that people with that condition often react exactly the opposite to stimulants, etc than other people. For example, I was told to try giving our son coffee in the morning before school because the caffeine would have a calming effect. As I remember, that didn't work on him, but he would load any liquid with tons of sugar. But, I was just thinking... you mentioned having ADHD, Steph, so maybe that's why you reacted like that to the Mucinex. Then again, I could be way off track!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Just teasing you Shirley.... your signature.... after your goal it says "I hope"!! It IS great information. Janet likes to scold people when they use the word "hope"... encouraging us to be more positive about ourselves. We have been fighting this weight/food battle for so long we tend to think of ourselves as pre-programmed to fail. HUGS! Didn't mean to upset you!! It was just in fun!

You are so sweet! I really appreciate your kind words. My Band Family has helped me through this day and I thank all of you for your caring expressions of encouragement. Steph, you are a blessing to all of us. We know how busy your household is!! Been there, done that!! We appreciate all of your contributions to this site! I am starting a new month of logging my exercise. Today I discovered that the Wii keeps track of your daily activity. Not a running count, I don't think, but today I was on there twice. When I logged in the second time, I saw I had two messages on the bulletin board. So when I checked them, one gave me my "Wii Fitness Age" from today (sadly went from 29 up to 71), and told me I'd done 27 minutes of exercise so far today. So I spent some more time doing some training exercises... boxing (dodging tennis balls and punching the bag until it fell), bowling (power bowling and one game), golf.. (target practice, putting, swing strength).. Before I logged off I checked again and had a total of 52 minutes for the day. I'm going to count that as one session. Almost an hour. Tomorrow I'll try to make sure it's a whole hour.

Okay, now the Smiley's won't work!! Grrrr!! Can't you bring those needles to the M of A????:biggrin::thumbup: BUSTED!!! That is REALLY GOOD NEWS on both fronts... tendonitis is somewhat better than a stress fracture!! And I'm glad you are going to get better shoes. That's really important with all the running you're doing.

That's TOO funny!! My DH cuts his own hair, too! I cut it for probably 35 years. Then, all of a sudden, he decides since he's wearing a buzz now, he can do it himself. He always misses some hair right on the top of the crown of his head, and the back always is dreadful!! He refuses to let me fix it and it's a major frustration!! So, I can relate!! He has no hobbies either. I'm trying to get him to buy a remote controlled airplane. When he first retired, he started flying lessons. He got his private pilots license one year later. So for a couple of years, that was a great hobby! Then, when we moved from OK to WA he decided it was too expensive to fly here. The first winter we were in CA, he was going to Civil Air Patrol meetings and doing some flying with them, but then he decided that was too expensive too! They get this fixation about spending money after they retire. I don't understand.. we put away money for years... for our retirement... and then they don't want to spend it on stuff like that! In fact, DH doesn't want to spend it at all!! I guess the kids will spend it after we're gone!

Now you're going to make me cry again!! I can't begin to tell you how much your supportive comments mean to me!! Thanks so much! It's been a tough day. DH went over and cut their lawn today, as he does every week when we're home (5 acres) and then got a Happy Birthday balloon and tied it to the mailbox! Gotta keep lovin' them even when they're not lovable! Guess that's what we were trying to show DGD yesterday.

Shirley, Just noticed your signature! You want to be careful about your use of that word HOPE here!! (a word to the wise) Janet will get on your case!! (IndioGirl) :cool2::biggrin::tongue: It's on her list of BAD WORDS along with "I'll try" and other things like that!! It's I WILL!! HUGS!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Well, THERE you are!! So glad to see you back, Carol! Sorry for your computer troubles. I'd be going through withdrawl after 3 wks of no LBT!! Sounds like your are doing GREAT! Sure makes a difference when the restriction is there, doesn't it. Great medical gains for you, too. I'm now off one of my cholesterol meds. My doc is very pleased with my blood pressure, but she's not quite ready to let me try reducing one of those meds. I am supposed to see a pulmonologist to see if my CPAP needs to be readjusted, but didn't make an appointment yet. Night before last, I woke up in the morning without my mask on... must have fallen back asleep after a trip to the BR without putting it back on. It had to have been off for several hours and DH says he never heard me snoring at all, so must be getting better in that dept, too.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Welcome and congratulations on your success so far. You're on your way to a healthier life! We are fairly familiar with your area as our son lives at Moffett Field and we visit him twice a year on our way back & forth from Desert Hot Springs with our RV. He's been stationed in the area for a couple of years. We like to travel 101 and seems like we cross over to 280 somewhere near the airport.

Two things: #1... couldn't get on the site ALL morning. Just kept saying "loading" but it never did. #2....having a bummer day because today is DD 42nd birthday and she's not speaking to us again. She is BIG TIME pissed at us because we went to DGD's court thingy yesterday for her DUI. They want to knock out ALL the props...no support of any kind. However, we think they are forgetting about the LOVE part of tough love, so we went. Didn't really realize that she would get so mad. I mean, it's not like we took out the checkbook and paid her fines. We were there just to give her a hug and let her know we care.

We could ambush her at the M of A?!! Tie her up and take away her ciggies?? Nah....she'll give them up when she's ready! Hmmmm... do you think we know each other too well!?? Too ambitious, as Janet says, IMHO!! I agree! JANET, GREAT WEIGH IN!! CONGRATULATIONS!!

So sorry to hear that, Linda! What a bummer! So sorry for your loss, Kathy. Sounds like you did great through all that stress and heartbreak. We're happy to have you back! One thing you missed while you were gone.... we're planning a weekend to the Mall of America July 25-27 to celebrate our one year "bandiversary". We're staying at Homewood Suites. Maybe you can join us!

I wish you had seen someone about the foot by now! Because it boils down to this.... what is the reason for the pain?? It's possible you could have a stress fracture... not at all unusual with runners. Or you could have a pinched nerve... sprain... muscle strain..??? I forget... did this happen before or after the new shoes??? You don't want to do permanent damage to your foot. Also, I know you said the shoes "worked great", but the level of exercise/running that you are doing... you should be wearing a really good pair of shoes appropriate for running. I know you said they were $75 shoes that were on sale, but are you sure they're giving you the support you need? To answer your question, though, I think I'd do the walk/run if I were you. So.... that's my two cents!

Hang in there, Kid!! You'll make it! We're rooting for you! GOOD JOB!! MUST BE THE HAT!! Good Morning, Mango! Hope everyone has a gREAT day!! We have "Primetimers" at church this morning. I am supposed to try and get some games going but everyone just likes to sit and talk, so that should be a challenge! DH has already told me "the men just like to sit and talk. We don't want to play games!" After that.... going to court with DGD.... her DUI from Dec. That should be fun..... NOT!!
