I have attended just a few support group meetings.. the one in Everett, one in Palm Springs and we had one going here in Monroe last fall, but when I came home after being gone for the winter, it wasn't meeting any more. LBT is MY support group and I am here several times a day.

Am I the only one not out celebrating today!??? DH is fixing this big fancy london broil dinner & DD & SIL coming for dinner later. So I got to go across the street to Albertson's to buy gravy. I'm going to fix myself some mock mashed potatoes with a big head of cauliflower I bought. I just noticed that the "rep power" is gone off our posts. When did that happen??

There you go!! Congrats!! That's exciting!! Pictures sure can be difficult on this site. Yesterday I couldn't get my Smileys to post. Sure is quiet here this morning!

Isn't that a great book? My DH & I both read it and he is NOT a reader. I still keep it close at hand. I want to lend it to a friend of mine who is considering having the surgery, but I'm having a hard time letting it go even for a short time!! I bought 4-5 books prior to surgery, but that is the one I pick up over and over again. The gal who wrote it is a fill nurse at the NWWLS in Everett. I crashed one of their support group meetings with one of their patients, so I got to hear her. She's a kick... shoot from the hip type! Enjoyed her candor.

Click on Karri's blogspot link and you can see the pictures. Yeah, I don't deal well with prejudice. Have had to deal with plenty of it all my life because of weight issues!! Years ago I was in downtown Seattle interviewing for a job in a doctor's office and after a short conversation with the office manager she basically told me that the doctor would never hire me because I was overweight, and if he did he would make my life miserable. I went out to my car and had a good cry before I could drive home. I did a little shopping this week... I can never find anything at Sears, Macy's, Penney's, Lane Bryant, etc. but take me to Wal-Mart and I buy stuff!!! Now what does that tell you??? I'm cheap??? I have no sense of style?? No class??!! I don't know.. but I found a nice short sleeve blouse, button up the front, coral, and a cotton knit coral flower print shirt that goes with it really well. I wore them to church this morning with my baggy pants that are going in the Goodwill box as soon as I wash them! Oh, the first shirt I bought I had to take back.. too big! I got a 3X because it said 22/24 and that seemed right. But I had to go back and get the 18/20 instead! I know that's big compared to what most of you are now wearing, but for me, it's a size I haven't seen in a very long time!!:tt1::tt1: DD is having bad asthma problems for the last 6 weeks. She finally agreed to take her steroids this weekend and she is OH SO MUCH more pleasant now!! It's amazing what a little oxygen in your system will do for you. Wonder how much that had to do with all the problems we had the last month or so!!

You gals are scaring me!!:biggrin: :thumbup::biggrin::thumbup:

Welcome! NO, it's not a "walk in the park", is it? It's a lot of hard work and discipline, and changing our attitudes towards food, changing our eating habits. But, we can do it!!

That is OUTRAGEOUS!! Some people are just plain ignorant!! So sorry you and your GS had to experience that and be the victims of their stupidity! I spoke too soon about the weather.. it really turned out to be a nice day. We went down to the waterfront... rode around on my scooter for a while and then we went to this little brewery for lunch. I talked DH in to ordering a seafood combo platter.. so I could pick off of it. But he didn't let that happen... he gave me what he wanted me to have... on shrimp, two litle clam strips and a small piece of cod. But it was enough because I ordered a bowl of chowder and a side of cole slaw. I ended up giving him at least half the chowder because I was full. I had two sips of his beer and then he started telling me how many calories there are in beer, so that was the end of that. He just finished making some wine... a 5 week process, his first try at it, so I'm having a little glass of merlot instead. And then we're taking a walk/ride down to the lake while it's still nice and warm (75ish) and SUNNY!!

HI, Would love to see photos of your Montana house. Sounds like a major undertaking!! Yeah, gas prices... a nightmare!! What do you think it'll cost us to drive south in the fall with our 75 gallon gas tank???? At about 6-7 mpg!!?? It's making more and more sense to buy something down there! -
Go back and get it!! That's not fair!! I know you've been busy with family but we miss you!! Great job on the inches lost! It's probably about time for me to take measurements again. Don't think I've done it since about Dec.!

Janet, What happened???? Did you get a LIFE or something???? It's TOO quiet when you're not here!! I see you're only 5 degrees warmer than us today! Very strange!! I am still enjoying my Wii Fit/Wii Sports, but decided I have to split my sessions in to twice a day instead of trying to do one right after the other. The Wii Fit exercises don't seem particularly strenuous, but I get awfully tired after about 15 minutes!! And sometimes I have to sit down for a few seconds... my knees start to hurt, and some of the exercises actually make me light-headed for a few seconds. Scarey! Mostly the ski jump does that.. you have to go from squating... like you're going off a ski jump, then stand up straight all of a sudden to jump off the end... I crash EVERY time. I have yet to do a successful jump! So, now I have TWO Wii age tests to do each day... the Wii sports and the Wii Fit. We have absolutely not ONE plan for the long holiday weekend. DH says maybe we'll go to a movie. Youngest DD says we can crash their BBQ on Sunday.. for the missions group at their church. Maybe we'll go.

You're doing great, Christy!! I love the potluck story!! I think you're using the wrong code for your ticker. Go back to "edit signature" and try doing a copy/paste on the one that is marked "BBC code". I'm pretty sure that's the one I used and it worked. -
Hi, I got my Wii in a local retail store, but I was just at Target and they had a couple on the shelves. And my sister got two at a Buffalo area Target today. The Wii Fit I ordered from Wal-Mart.com. It's $89, the Wii is $249.

Thinking of you as I know this is a difficult time for you! Don't give up on the Wii Fit. They'll probably continue to get more.

All of you school teachers are sure under a lot of stress with this end of the school year stuff! We need to keep you in our thoughts and prayers!! You'll get through it! It'll soon be over and you'll get a break! Hope everyone has a great day! It's another cloudy morning here in the NW. I'm getting used to gray skies!! NO, that's a lie!! I'm not!

Hmmmm.... I've read the book pretty thoroughly, but don't remember if it will give you the calorie count. I figured out how to add the "Wii Fit" Channel to my Wii menu tonight. Then you can check your daily stats without putting the disk in the console. I did set some goals, but it won't let you set your goal at more than about 10% of your body weight. I'm just guessing at that, but it wouldn't let me set it where I wanted. So I just went with the biggest number it would let me for projected weight loss. It's a pretty cool tool!!
-
Yeah, it's a really neat book. That's a great idea... keep it in the car!! Good to have you back! Sounds like you're doing great!! I don't very often feel thirsty, but that's just me. After exercising I get thirsty, but that's about the only time. So it's had to be a learned discipline for me. I don't set an alarm, but I can see where that would help. I just carry my jug of crystal lite EVERYWHERE!! I think I figured I had about 30 oz of coffee and 30 oz of crystal lite by noon today. Probably about another 40 oz since then and it's only 7 pm. So I"m getting in a lot today. OH..... my Wii FIT came today!! What fun!! We had a blast with it this afternoon for well over an hour. It's great. No more wondering what the scale REALLY says (mine is fluctuating as much as 10 lb every morning). You enter your height and birth date and it tells you how much you weigh and what your BMI is. I didn't try too many of the yoga things because I know I can't do them... standing on one leg, for instance. But I think I tried every exercise in all the other categories. The balance exercises are really fun... slalom skiing... DH tried about 5 times to beat my score and couldn't do it! Then there's a ski jump thing and I couldn't get the timing right on that so I kept crashing. Didn't do too bad on the hula hoop, but found that to be very hard on my knees because of the pivoting. But, all in all, it is really fun and I can do most of the exercises. My Wii Fit age on that today was 75 but I didn't feel bad because DH was 73! You have to stand perfectly balanced for at least 3 seconds to get good points and you'd be amazed how hard that really is. Just breathing in and out is enough to knock you off balance. Since I did that this afternoon, I will go back to my bowling, boxing, golf, etc tonight and see how I do. Jacki, did you order yours??

You've heard about people who have been abducted and had their kidneys removed by black-market organ thieves. My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years ago. I went to sleep and woke up with someone else's thighs. It was just that quick. The replacements had the texture of cooked oatmeal. Whose thighs were these and what happened to mine? I spent the entire summer looking for my thighs. Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned myself to living out my life in jeans. And then the thieves struck again. My butt was next. I knew it was the same gang, because they took pains to match my new rear-end to the thighs they had stuck me with earlier. But my new butt was attached at least three inches lower than my original! I realized I'd have to give up my jeans in favor of long skirts. Two years ago I realized my arms had been switched. One morning I was fixing my hair and was horrified to see the fle sh of my upper arm swing to and fro with the motion of the hairbrush. This was really getting scary - my body was being replaced one section at a time. What could they do to me next? When my poor neck suddenly disappeared and was replaced with a turkey neck, I decided to tell my story. Women of the world, wake up and smell the coffee! Those 'plastic' surgeons are using REAL replacement body parts -stolen from you and me! The next time someone you know has something 'lifted', look again - was it lifted from you? THIS IS NOT A HOAX. This is happening to women everywhere every night. WARN YOUR FRIENDS! P.S. Last year I thought some one had stolen my Boobs. I was lying in bed and they were gone! But when I jumped out of bed, I was relieved to see that they had just been hiding in my armpits as I slept. Now I keep them hidden in my waistband....

Please don't get discouraged, Brenda!! DON'T GIVE UP!! I'm sending you a private email. -
Our bands are SOOOO fickle!! Since my last fill, I've been fairly tight and often unable to eat more than a few bites of my meal, but then I have occasions like you had today when it seems I can eat as much as I want. It's very frustrating. DD invited us over for burgers the other night. (YES, she really did and she is sort of being friendly again.) I ate one whole burger, without the bun, but also a spoonful of beans, potato salad, macaroni salad!! Not good! Then she brought out strawberries and angel food cake for dessert. I took some, but could only eat a couple of bites. That probably contributed to no weight loss this week! I'm doing pretty good on water.... counting about 24-32 oz of crystal lite every day, (I use the Wal-Mart brand... tastes just as good and WAY cheaper at $1.88 a can), and I have about the same amount of coffee every day.

Glad you are doing well! So sorry you had such a disappointing experience! You should be enjoying those full liquids by now! You have a whole lot more patience than I do, Don!!

Thanks for all the compliments. Same outfit--- pretty pathetic... not too many clothes that aren't baggy. I need to go shopping. Well, I have been shopping quite a few times. Just can't find anything I like. There is a remnant of tan left! Or else it just converted to rust! We would LOVE to see a photo of your family! Hope you can get them to pose! Those three little ones are such a delight to us!! They're 45 miles away so we don't get to see them as often as I'd like. Now that I have my new laptop, I have a built in webcam, so it's easier to video conference with them. Had to use a clip on one before and it was poor quality and I could never get the sound to work.
