    please rescue me

I'm saying this with the utmost of love.... but if you are going to be successful in this.... you are going to have to make some big changes in what you eat! That means taking some of the "NOs" out of your vocabulary! NO kind of fish??? Can you experiment with some new ways of preparing fish so that maybe you can tolerate it?? Most of us who are enjoying success in this weight loss journey have made major sacrifices and changes in the way we eat/drink. We've given up things we enjoy... for me.. Diet Coke, all carbonated beverages, in fact.. and added things we didn't think we could tolerate. Crystal Lite is my new beverage of choice. I used to eat fish maybe a couple of times a month. Now I sometimes have it three times a day! Today for instance, eggbeaters omelet with shrimp for Breakfast, salmon taco for lunch, salmon patty & frozen peas for dinner. I'm growing gills. Try to expand your horizons!

Thanks, gals... appreciate the encouragement from both of you. I am happy with my new jeans, and my BELT!! And my 18/20 shirts. Progress has just been very slow lately. Five lb in June & another five in July but less than 1 lb last month.... vacation. Now youngest DS is here... haven't seen him in about 3 years I think... so ate the wrong things yesterday, going out to lunch today! Took him to see both daughters. One had made stroganoff for dinner (I didn't eat the noodles, but she'd heated up a little rice for me) The other one was just taking (ANOTHER) blackbery pie out of the oven when we got there! Had a small sliver, spoonful of icecream! UGH! Money thing is ridiculous! HAH!! Sounds like we ARE married to the same guy. Mine keeps his calculator & notebook with all his charts and figures right next to his laptop in the living room. I get daily updates as to how much we've "LOST", but never talks aobut it when it looks good! This latest episode started with a big fight, which is kinda funny. I've been playing "Parking Wars" with 2 DDs, SIL, DIL & others on Facebook. You get a street with your name and 2 cars to start out with. You can't park your cars on your street. They have to be parked on other people's street in "legal" parking spaces. So I woke up one morning and I'd had a red car parked in a red car space on DIL's street and the parking space status changed overnight to a different color and she'd given me a "parking ticket" which cost me $5K+, and I lost the value of the car... they increase in value up to a max value the longer you are parked, and then you cash them in. So DIL "caught" me parked illegally which cost me over $10K. So I was complaining to DH (who is also playing). So he started chewing me out because I was more upset over pretend money than I am about real money! So I told him it's all pretend to me because it's only figures on a piece of paper and he'll never spend it anyway. That was the WRONG thing to say! It escalated from there and cost me a couple of days of grumpy!:frown::biggrin: Anyone want to play "Parkng Wars"??? You have to get a Facebook account first.

I'm here.. lurking. just haven't felt like posting anything lately so just reading all the posts. Too much petty bickering here. Stupid. It's just depressing. DH very grumpy... stock market #s go bad & he is in a slump! Doesn't make sense to me! Then he gets mad because it doesn't upset me! Youngest DS flew in this afternoon. So will be busy for a couple of days before he flies back. He got some time off because job they were doing is in New Orleans! He works for a mobile paint company painting heavy equipment, trains right now...locomotives, cabooses, etc. He was up in Alberta visiting his latest hot romance. Of course, every time he has a new girlfriend, this is THE one! Had to remind him, he's never gotten around to divorcing the first wife.. hasn't seen her in over 10 years! You all are depressing me... I'm happy to be wearing jeans that are a size 20, shirts that are 20/22, some 18/20s. It's taken me a year to get to where you all started! TOPS weight this week.. down 1 1/2 lb. But last week I ws down more on my Wii... I would've been down several pounds but I've gained back like .2 lb about 3-4 days in a row. Not good.:frown::frown::frown::smile:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I think you'll sail through this in less than six months. Have no idea why they would require physical therapist eval. I think that is the first I have heard of that!! Maybe to see where you are atwith respect to exercise capability???

My experience with MY doctor's office???? You HAVE to be a pest!! A lot of these bariatric offices are VERY busy... you have to be your own advocate! Yes, there SHOULD be better communication... but there isn't, so you will have to be more aggressive!

Is the new Super Target open yet?? Had a busy day. Youngest DD here with the three little ones.. SIL is back in Sacramento... his dad is terminally ill w/Leukemia. Got him out of the hosp today and settled at his sisters... "nanny cam", nursing help, etc. So kids were crazy... took them to our playground, walked over to Albertson's & got my latte, played on the Wii with them... 5 yr old is very good at bowling. Then we went to other DD's for dinner. She fixed steak, but too chewy for me. DH had picked up rotisserie chicken... it was too greasy. SO I ate a hot dog, no bun! Little bit of angel hair, broccoli, and a small piece of fresh out of the oven blackberry pie. Didn't total, but probably not a great total for today!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Ah.... Sorry... it's kind of a "cheater" because it came in a twin pack.. I think from costco... vacuum packed with teriyaki seasoning/marinade already in the pack. So you just have to throw it in the oven or on the grill... looks very much like a pork loin roast. Cooked pretty fast in the oven and was nice and moist. Would've been really good on the grill, too. Then I made a package of chicken gravy and put it in the pan to pick up the teriyaki seasoning. i put the gravy on top of the "mock mashed potatoes" I made by steaming some cauliflower and garlic cloves together and mashing them up with a little sour cream. Yummy! If you can find a turkey roast of some kind, I'm sure you could recreate something similar by putting it in a zip lock bag with some teriyaki seasoning and marinade for a few hours.

I think your picture turned out a little better than mine. My camera had started acting up and by the time I got home I decided I needed a new one. Sure was a fun weekend! Yeah, I love looking at all those pictures. All my train trip pictures play on my laptop as screen saver when I"m not using it and I really enjoy watching them!

Yeah, and I figured out that there are other styles of pants in that Target brand that are cropped and cut to sit below the waist.... perfect fit for me. So I'll be thinking about getting some other pants soon. And I need a belt for these 24s now that they're all loosened up! I probably haven't worn a belt since I was about 12 yrs old!! Anytime I ever bought anything that came with a belt I'd throw it away! Now I need to find one I can wear with my new jeans!! Hope your day is GREAT!! And congrats on the weight loss! Well, we went out to lunch, but to the stir fry place across the street. Remember the lady who was so unreasonable last summer and wouldn't let me buy a children's portion or take my leftovers home??? Well, she was also very unfriendly and the atmosphere was not pleasant. So, guess what??? Her restaurant is now under new management!! I talked to the new guy before they reopened and he's made some significant changes. It's no longer "all you can eat", so he doesn't care if I take my leftovers home, he lowered the prices by a dollar, and the atmosphere is way different. In fact, I went back after lunch and told them that the best change they made was the smiles and the friendly atmosphere! Anyway, I had healthy veggies, lean meat, imit. crab and a small amt of rice. So.... out to lunch, but we ate pretty healthy.

That's my new focus.... summer is OVER.... no more trips, vacations, etc. Time to get serious again. My weight was down on Monday... then I've gained .2 lb Tues, Wed., Thurs. Too much wine yesterday... I already confessed that. Gotta watch my snacks, too. I snacked on veggie crackers last night... 120 calories for 14, but I only had about 7, and a couple of TBSP of Tostios onion dip. But I had a few pretzel sticks in the afternoon with my wine and with some dip that I made... Knorr Spinach Soup mix, FF Sour cream and some other stuff I threw in... little bit of FF miracle whip, little bit of Raspberry Wasaba hot mustard. Shouldn't have been that many calories, but don't usually snack TWICE in a day. And those papaya tablets... I need them sometimes, but other times I just WANT them because they are sweet! Can't eat them like M & Ms!! Okay... that's my TRUE CONFESSIONS for today. Gotta go get in the shower and take our lake walk/ride. Not much exercise for me, but I enjoy the fresh air and sunshine and it gets me outside and out of my recliner. And I have to do some RV packing today! LATER, gang!

If groveling is what it takes, do it!! You have to ADVOCATE for yourself to get anywhere these days, especially with this process!! Beg, cry, do whatever you need to!!

Was back at Target today and decided to look at their 75% off rack again. I REALLY like how these jeans are fitting. Pant & crotch length are just right for me!! As I said, I bought a size 24... wearing now, 22 for later, and today I took the last pair they had on the rack, a size 20. As I've worn these the last two days, you know how they stretch out, I've decided that I will be ready for the 22s sooner than I thought, so now I have the next two smaller sizes waiting in the wings! Quite a dilemma.. to keep going to this group or forget it!! THIS is my support group, but I have to say that Steph makes some very good points, too!! They have nothing to offer you, but maybe you have some major contributions to make to THEM!! I feel I've been very bad this afternoon. Kept my food choices in check and then had too much wine. I got in a BAD MOOD about something... I don't even remember what. Got mad at DH about something at Costco... he didn't want to go in and I did.. I don't even remember it all, but I got in a snit! Then I went for a long scooter ride. He went to the motor home while I was gone to do some more "packing" for the winter trip. So when I got home & he wasn't here, I poured myself a small glass of wine. Then I filled it up. Then I filled it up again! Then he came home and gave me another half glass! Very small glass, mind you, but too much!! Really stupid! Back to the TVs....Consumer Reports is very complimentary towards the Vizios... rates several as "Best Buys". Here's a small excerpt from their site. Both the Sony KDL-40V4100 and Vizio VO42L FHTVA10A are 40-inch sets with excellent HD picture quality and very good performance with DVDs. The Sony did better with SD programs, while the Vizio had a better-than-average viewing angle and costs $500 less.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Very interested to hear what your PCP had to say about his rash. Sounds very similar to one I've had problems with about 3 times in the last 10 years. Starts out itchy, under breasts, as you say, etc., then as it progresses it gets very painful to where it is agony to wear a bra. Last time was a couple of years ago. dermatologist ordered stuff that seemed to make it worse. This went on for weeks before it was resolved each time. It was HORRIBLE and I FEEL YOUR PAIN!! Hope you get some answers and Rx for something that will work!! I don't know what it is... not cravings for me, but just sort of in a "BAD MOOD"!! So I had too many glasses of wine today!! I use a very small wine glass... like the size they give you when you go to a wine tasting. But.... I think I filled it up three times, which is WAY too much wine. And, guess what... I'm STILL in a bad mood, so it didn't help but did add a lot of calories!! Will have to really limit what I eat the rest of the day to compensate!! Stupid!! Fixing a turkey teriyaki roast for dinner. That should be fairly low in calories, and steamed some cauliflower, zucchinni and yellow squash to go with it.

I don't know if you can bargain with Medicare or appeal, but I think I sure would try! You have to go to the page where you edit your profile. It's complicated and I always get frustrated every time I want to change my picture. But just stick with it. I've found the easiest way is to first get an account with "Photobucket.com". Upload your photos there. You'll have to resize it down to avatar size... I think there's a pre-set size that says avatar. Once you've done that, some little boxes pop up with various "codes" in it for your photo. Copy the one that says "direct" something or other. THen go to your edit profile page and .... I think it says upload profile picture or something like that. When you click on that a box will pop up asking you for the "url" address of your photo and that's where you paste in the code. Then, find where it says "change avatar" and if it worked.... your little picture will be at the very end of all the other little cutsie avatars. Then you pick that and "save". If your experience is similar to mine, by the time it works you'll be spitting bullets!:biggrin::cool2: I know there's a tutorial with great instrusctions and photos for setting up your ticker, but none that i know of for the photo stuff. Hope it works for you!!
