Hi There,
I am nearly 2months post op and currently trying to get a handle of shopping for food, since my options are bigger than before. It is easy to get overwhelmed in the store; not sure what to get or make out of the food I do buy.
What are some of your shopping list suggestions? I'm a big fan of Trader Joes!

10 days post op and having really sharp consistent stabbing pains in my side---feels like I'm being poked over and over. It has got me doubled over and I can not sit or lay comfortably. Has any one else experienced this?
I went to my follow up appointment and told the doctor and med assistant said this was to be expected and to take pain meds. They dont seem to be working. Im really worried this is something else...

Instead of saying "what did I do to myself" start saying " look what I've done for myself." You have saved your life. It takes a lot of courage to take this step, and you really have come too far to turn around.
I don't mean to be crass, but what is done is done and we have to now make the most of it. Do what we need to do to get the healthy us we seek!
I got my sleeve a week ago, im still in pain, and i have dreams about food---but i dont regret this decision; I hope I never do. Good luck, lady!

Thank you all. My follow up with the surgeon is this Friday so I will definitely ask about the persistent pain. I stopped taking the pain meds completely the day before yesterday. Do you think if I continue it will help me heal? I really hated the taste and being laid up all day because of the meds made it hard to get the fluids in.

My surgery was last Tuesday and I was discharged from the hospital the following Wednesday evening. I was pretty much bedridden for the first couple of days at home, mosrly due to meds and there being no other place to sit in my tiny studio, other than bar stools.
I weighed in at 231 before my pre op diet, 222 the day of surgery, 225 the day I came home and today I am at 212. I've been working really hard to get in all of the recommended fluids and Protein, sometimes staying up until way past midnight just to make sure ive got enough Water in to safely fall asleep. Im not very hungry these days, and I probably only consume about 300-500 calories per day in Protein, soy milk, and yogurt.
Most of my incisions seem to be healing quite nicely, including the drain. I still have a lot of pain in/ under my quarter sized incision that doesn't seem to want to go away. I cant find a comfortable way to sleep and when I move around the pain is killer-- its also bad when I try to pick stuff up. Coughing is extremely painfull, and today I sneezed and I could have sworn I saw "the light".Is this normal for 1 week post-op?

Hey all, I feel like i might have to poo, but im not sure.
I was sleeved on the 22nd and I think everything is going well except that I seem to have some pain that feels like it could be a cramp or gas I'm not sure if it is my new stomache healing, or what.
I am having a hard time with calculating what can actually fit in my new stomach when I drink or take a bite of food. Could it be me just overeating?
How long did it take for you to stop feelung pain in the tummy?

Bless you for posting so soon after surgery. I go in at 7:30 in the morning' date=' so right behind you.Don't be a hero. Ask for pain medication.
Are you still on an IV?[/quote']
Don't worry, im no hero. I push the button to administer meds often as a blink...jk...

Dr Zare in San Jose ??
Yes! Dr. ZARE in San Jose. I am so ecstatic to5o have him as my surgeon. Were you sleeved by him as well?
-
Ciming to you live from my post-op bed. The surgery went "beautifully" according to the Dr. I was sleeved at 7:45 am. Even though Dr. Zare is an angel, my new stomache hurts like hell.

Today was the last day of my pre-op diet. 35 Optifast drinks, greek yogurt, and tiny salads for the last 10 days. I didnt think I would make it, but I did...although, some loved ones were nearly injured in the process, lol. Clear liquids and bowel prep tommorrow.
I'm so ready to be post-op already!
Question for you all: How often did you need someone around to help you out after being discharged from hospital?

Hello,
My name is Stephanie, I am from San Jose, CA and I am officially one week away from getting sleeved. I am in my mid-twenties and looking for sleevers in Northern California, although all support is welcome!
I am really anxious to get to the surgery date. The Optifast diet has been challenging, especially at work. Every time you look around someone is having a birthday cake!
Anyways, I am getting sleeved two days before my birthday; I couldn't think of a better gift for myself!
Thank you all for your candidness and the support you post on this site! It has definitely helped me throughout this entire process.
How Long After Surgery Before Strenuous Excercise?

Hi All,
Four months out from surgery, today in fact. Last night was my first time doing really heavy exercise. I stared the 30 day shred with Jillian Michaels, and let me tell you, I am in pain. Though it was only 20 minutes or so I feel like I may have done some damage to my stomach. I am having a lot of discomfort. I am wondering if I could have possibly damaged something this far out from surgery,or if I am just being too dramatic? Any ideas guys?
