Not to me, I love the smoked variety on cottage cheese and cruskits. I eat real poached salmon or sashimi style salmon very often. Just had to stop using soy sauce as it gives me wind, sigh .....

I don't care for smoked salmon, either. Grilled, sashimi, broiled, pan fried... Yum!! Never frozen or canned, though.
Definitely the fresh salmon is the best
