Comfort food. Chili with lean meat and lots of Beans. Ham and bean Soup. French onion soup. Meatloaf with green beans or other roasted veggies. Pulled chicken and gravy. Teriyaki salmon and stir fried veggies, There are sooooooo many options. Shape up or I'll know and I'll come beat you. You're worth it. And yeah... posting around these parts is quite ho-hum lately. -
Why is weight loss a one size fits all scenario here? Different goals call for different approach
LipstickLady replied to Tootsietoes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Where is anyone making someone feel bad about surgery? "Bugle girl", as you called her, (she has a name, btw...) was eating bugles less than two weeks out. That was the only issue. She was still on mushies. I don't care what diet anyone follows but, yes. I will encourage someone to follow the diet PRESCRIBED by their surgeon 100% of the time. If they choose not to, that's on them, but I won't validate bad decisions. I agree. Everyone should have the opportunity to have this surgery IF they are emotionally and mentally ready for it. -

@@Tootsietoes I'm really confused as to what your agenda is here. -
Can I lie - hernia op?
LipstickLady replied to bossportsgal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do whatever you want, but I wouldn't choose to lie, personally. I would simply say the matter is rather private but I absolutely appreciate their concern and well wishes. Leave it at that. -

I'm thrilled you are doing well. I don't remember questioning your decisions, your methods, or your dietary decisions. I'm seriously not sure where you got the impression that anything "bothers" me about another's decision to have surgery. -

Wait, whuuuuuuut? There is a BIG difference between creating your own path by eating what you choose to eat on/off plan both pre and post op and eating something that could potentially cause serious health risks 3 or 5 days post op. I really don't give a rat's patoot if you choose to eat a cupcake, a pizza, a taco or an entire pan of brownies if you so desire once you are cleared for all foods. That said, I am certainly not going to help you justify that behavior, especially if you know it's a poor choice and you are looking for permission to make said choices. If you are on liquids or mushies and eating pork chops and swedish fish and come here looking for validation or a stamp of approval? It's probably not going to happen. If it's working for you, AWESOME! I can make poor choices, too, at 3.5 years out because I learned good habits along the way by sticking to my doc's PRESCRIBED diet. But that's just me. It says so in my signature. -
On the road lunch ideas
LipstickLady replied to Ssze1109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Boiled eggs, edamame, good quality lunch meats like Boar's Head = little processing, jerky, almonds, imitation crab legs, olives ... But really. There is no such thing as too much cheese. -

Yikes! You've got a lot on your plate! You've been given a lot of great words. At this point, all I can offer is a virtual hug. As a former exceptional ed teacher, I do think your words about accommodations were quite harsh. If you have the same diagnosis, use the accommodations. Your choice NOT to use them does not make those who do cheaters nor does it give them an advantage. An advantage is something you didn't have access to, and you did. You simply chose not to exercise your right to use them. Best wishes! -

Had my first puréed food, somebody talk me down!

They are just barely cooked. I add cheese and butter to make them even moister. They should be shiny and just past the liquidy stage but not fully set. http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-soft-creamy-scrambled-eggs-113371 -
Prior brain tumor girl... That explains a lot! Just kidding, my sweetie had one this year as well. It messed with all kinds of stuff. Best wishes for having it gone for life! Yup. When they removed the tumor, they removed my filter and my give a sh*t about other people's opinions of me. Hope your sweetie is recovering well!

I dump. It's a good thing. Ice cream was my favorite thing -- no longer and I no longer WANT it so I don't miss it. Cream based Soups? NOPE. It actually repulses me because of dumping. Alfredo sauce. Hellz to the no. Rice? Pasta? Nope. Dumping is sucky and it helps me stay on track. I have a love/hate relationship with it. -
MMMmmm... As a prior brain tumor gal, I am not a big fan of the watch and wait method. I'd demand it be fixed, personally. And it SUCKS that this happened to you. I am so sorry.

Yup. Sounds like dumping. Cold sweats and Water poop and/or vomiting are signs. Go back to full liquids for a day or so and then eat less and eat slower. Try something different, too. Hummus, guacamole, refried Beans, really wet scrambled eggs... -
Agree. I just block those who offer me snarky prayers and a "blessed" day. The others...meh! To each their own.

Vets: sleeve lasts only 9 months?!
LipstickLady replied to judy vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 1/2 years out here. My sleeve is just as restrictive as it was at nine months out. Slider foods don't slide with me, dense Protein overfills me, and it's rare that I can eat more than a half a cup at a sitting. I'm no longer desperately hungry like I used to be all the time. For me, that's the best benefit. -
Food funeral ????? ???? ???? ????
LipstickLady replied to Kila Rass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No food funeral here. Food isn't dead to me so no need to Celebrate or mourn it. When I decided to have surgery, I decided that I needed to get my head straight and that started with changing how I though about food. I still enjoy it, I can eat almost anything I want, there was no reason to gorge on anything pre op and my decision worked out well for me.
