  1. I get in between 700-800 calories a day with a restriction of 40 grams of carbs. I've continually lost every week and track everything in MFP. I exercise daily and make sure I get in my 60-80 grams of protein also. Maybe your fat intake is too much, along with your sodium? Don't get discouraged, I bet your body will surprise you soon enough! Stay positive
  2. I eat anywhere from 500-700 a day and I'm restricted to 40 carbs a day, per my surgeon. I'm nearly 4 mos post-op. If I'm hungry, I eat more, but I keep my carbs low.
  3. I was advised no alcohol for one year. Consult your surgeon. Alcohol isn't worth the pain to me...
  4. I keep them at 40 or less, per my surgeon. It's very hard. Today I'm over by 3, but I'm not going to beat myself up over it. I had a bad week at work and even worse day today, so it's stressing me out. I rode 9.5 miles on the bike in 30 mins today to work out some aggression and burned off everything I ate!
  5. I pretty much eat what I want. I can't say I 'cheat' per se, but I have the occasional Cheeto, a fun size candy bar or an Oreo, if my carbs allow me. I eat a lot of meat and cheese and still have my protein shakes. I have given up bread and rice and eat very little pasta (whole grain only). I had a 1/4 cup of Fruity Pebbles the other day and that was enough to fill me up I don't feel like I'm restricted from the type of food, just the amount I eat. I was sleeved on 05/06/13 and I'm 52 lbs down!
  6. I felt the same way. In fact, I felt like it wasn't going to work, I was gonna die before it happened or something with insurance was going to fall thru last minute. But here I am, 3 mos out and 52 lbs down What you're feeling is normal. You won't regret it!! Good luck
  7. Amazing, congratulations! I'm at 52 lbs lost and feel fantastic too! I am much more happy and wish I would've done this sooner!
  8. At that point, I was eating scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, refried beans and everything that was on my preop diet. Try to get some fiber chews and miralax. You're not having a regular BM because you're not putting much into your body. Incorporate some of the foods I first mentioned. You may not be able to eat much of them, but it's a start. Don't worry about getting in the required 60-80 grams of protein, that will come in time. Staying hydrated is the most important. Sugar free popsicles are good too! Good luck!
  9. Don't be so hard on yourself! I cheated 3 days in because I had the worst headache. The doctor's office said it was fine to have some scrambled eggs. After that I got back on track. You're doing the best you can, doesn't mean you're going to fail after surgery! Good luck
  10. I ate a hot dog with a bun last weekend. It took me 4 hours to finish it.
  11. I'm 8 weeks out and my eyes are still bigger than my stomach. I can tolerate 4-6 oz (depends on the food) at a time. However, some things seem to go down easier than others and that scares me! When I get full, I get a knot in my chest, not necessarily my stomach telling me to stop. At that point, I can't get anything else down. Keep your portions small and don't over eat. You can stretch out your sleeve in less than a year. Maybe fill up on protein drinks instead and keep your carb intake low (I'm restricted to 40 a day). Always call your doc with any concerns or suggestions. Good luck!
  12. I was back on my preop diet the week I went home. I had yogurt and jello. I didn't have any issues, just couldn't eat but maybe a couple spoonfuls at a time. You'll get there! I'm 8 weeks post op and feeling great! I'm down 41 lbs and have no restrictions. Although, I'm still afraid of bread and I haven't tried rice. I'm on a strict 40 grams of carbs a day though and that's hard! Good luck to you
  13. I've had Tums with no problem. Maybe you need something like Pepcid instead. I was given liquid form for 30 days after surgery. I haven't had to rely on the Tums as much. You're probably experiencing indigestion, rather than a tummy ache. Good luck!
  14. Greek yogurt, refried beans (fat free), cheese, personal instant mashed potato cups, hummus. Are you allowed vegetables yet? Get the steam in the bag kind. it'll get easier and your choices will broaden soon! I'm 5 weeks out and can eat about anything now. Good luck
  15. WOW! I'm also 3 weeks out and I'm lucky if I see 500 in a day! And my doctor told me not to worry about 60-80 grams of protein a day, because it's not possible this early in. I would check with your doctor. You should be eating 1200 calories maybe a year out...Hope you're not sabotaging your sleeve.
  16. I'm 3 weeks post op today and I don't regret this one bit! As far as vitamins, I'm on a daily multi-vitamin, along with B12, since I'm lacking that. My food intake has increased. I was cleared to start eating meat and anything soft. No pasta or breads though, too many carbs. I'm only allowed to walk still and should be cleared to do more at my next post op visit. I was really worried about getting in my 60-80 grams of protein a day, but my surgeon said it will come with time. The biggest concern is keeping yourself hydrated. The only thing I can really tolerate is water and Isopure. I've also started adding sugar free drink mixes as well, just to have some flavor! I bought turkey burgers and I made 8 out of 4. Instead of a whole one, you can have sliders! No buns It fills me up. It's hard to believe the amount of food that makes you full. My first week was all liquids, then I slowly started to have some mashed potatoes and refried beans. A spoonful filled me up! Just remember, it's all worth it in the end. I wish my insurance would have paid for this sooner! Oh and one other thing, DO NOT under any circumstance, weigh yourself after surgery...I did and was upset. I gained 10 lbs from all the fluids, gas, etc. It will fall off, I promise. With that being said, a loss is a loss. There will be stalls, but stay strong and remember you have this site for support. Good luck!!
  17. I'm 16 days post op and don't really have much of an appetite. I've been trying desperately to get in my protein and fluids and it's just not happening. I've had the worst gas the last couple days and all I've been able to tolerate is water and mashed potatoes. Although tonight I had some yogurt. I was supposed to start the pureed foods this week and just thinking about the baby food I got makes me wanna hurl. I get nauseous when I try to eat it. I'm tired of scrambled eggs, soup, broth, pudding, etc. Any suggestions? Thank you!
  18. I just started drinking Isopure a couple days ago. It took me 12 hours to finish the bottle - I'm 10 days post op. The Alpine Punch and Pineapple Orange Banana is really good! I really like the amount of protein in them and you get a third of your fluid intake, even if it takes all day!
  19. I'm 9 days out and I'm feeling so much better than last week. The first 3 days were the hardest, I felt horrible and thought 'What the hell did I just do?!' You'll get past this and feel great too! Just a matter of time. I was given Zofran and it helps tremendously. I stopped taking it after day 5. Just think how great you'll look after this is all said and done!
  20. Hmm, didn't see that story. Was it directly related to the bypass? There are so many surgeons in the area, it could be anyone. I too, have heard some horror stories. However, it didn't deter me from going through with it. I'm nearly a week out and I'm already on pureed foods. I had an egg this morning and some mashed potatoes tonight. So good to eat something other than Soup and pudding! Amazing how full you get in such a short time!
  21. Dr. Scott is a great surgeon. He did my step dad's RNY two years ago. I just had my sleeve this past Monday, but mine was with Dr. Lisa Martin Hawver with Mercy. I have minimal pain and am feeling great! I didn't have an appetite for 3 days.I had a 2 night stay in the hospital and everyone was so wonderful to me. It's hard to get used to drinking again. I can barely finish a protein shake, it takes me an hour, cuz I feel so full. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask And good luck!!
  22. Maybe it's just me, but I find myself using the bathroom every 20 - 30 minutes! I usually go once an hour anyway, cuz of my bladder, but it's seemed to have gotten worse. Has anyone experienced this? It's annoying!
  23. Hey Vix, I use EAS Advantage, for now. 100 or 110 calories and 17 grams of protein with zero to 1 gram of sugar. They come in liquid, $4.99 a pack of four, in several flavors. I've enjoyed them so far, but I'm getting sick of them and I have another week! You may have to try a few to see what you really like, cuz you'll be drinking the heck out of them! Also, plain greek yogurt is GREAT for protein! I get 23 grams in one cup of Fage. I've learned to mix in sugar free drink mix, pudding and it's great in cream soups to thicken.
  24. I'm taking 6 weeks off. I have a desk job as well, but I'm up and down a lot. Don't push yourself or your body. Give it time to adjust. My coworker was sleeved in Sept 12 and was happy she took all 6 weeks. I say if you have the time, take it!
