    Snacks

Greek yogurt, refried beans (fat free), cheese, personal instant mashed potato cups, hummus. Are you allowed vegetables yet? Get the steam in the bag kind. it'll get easier and your choices will broaden soon! I'm 5 weeks out and can eat about anything now. Good luck
  2. WOW! I'm also 3 weeks out and I'm lucky if I see 500 in a day! And my doctor told me not to worry about 60-80 grams of protein a day, because it's not possible this early in. I would check with your doctor. You should be eating 1200 calories maybe a year out...Hope you're not sabotaging your sleeve.
  3. I'm 3 weeks post op today and I don't regret this one bit! As far as vitamins, I'm on a daily multi-vitamin, along with B12, since I'm lacking that. My food intake has increased. I was cleared to start eating meat and anything soft. No pasta or breads though, too many carbs. I'm only allowed to walk still and should be cleared to do more at my next post op visit. I was really worried about getting in my 60-80 grams of protein a day, but my surgeon said it will come with time. The biggest concern is keeping yourself hydrated. The only thing I can really tolerate is water and Isopure. I've also started adding sugar free drink mixes as well, just to have some flavor! I bought turkey burgers and I made 8 out of 4. Instead of a whole one, you can have sliders! No buns It fills me up. It's hard to believe the amount of food that makes you full. My first week was all liquids, then I slowly started to have some mashed potatoes and refried beans. A spoonful filled me up! Just remember, it's all worth it in the end. I wish my insurance would have paid for this sooner! Oh and one other thing, DO NOT under any circumstance, weigh yourself after surgery...I did and was upset. I gained 10 lbs from all the fluids, gas, etc. It will fall off, I promise. With that being said, a loss is a loss. There will be stalls, but stay strong and remember you have this site for support. Good luck!!
  4. I'm 16 days post op and don't really have much of an appetite. I've been trying desperately to get in my protein and fluids and it's just not happening. I've had the worst gas the last couple days and all I've been able to tolerate is water and mashed potatoes. Although tonight I had some yogurt. I was supposed to start the pureed foods this week and just thinking about the baby food I got makes me wanna hurl. I get nauseous when I try to eat it. I'm tired of scrambled eggs, soup, broth, pudding, etc. Any suggestions? Thank you!

    i just bought ISOPURE

I just started drinking Isopure a couple days ago. It took me 12 hours to finish the bottle - I'm 10 days post op. The Alpine Punch and Pineapple Orange Banana is really good! I really like the amount of protein in them and you get a third of your fluid intake, even if it takes all day!

    I feel like sh?&!

I'm 9 days out and I'm feeling so much better than last week. The first 3 days were the hardest, I felt horrible and thought 'What the hell did I just do?!' You'll get past this and feel great too! Just a matter of time. I was given Zofran and it helps tremendously. I stopped taking it after day 5. Just think how great you'll look after this is all said and done!
  7. Hmm, didn't see that story. Was it directly related to the bypass? There are so many surgeons in the area, it could be anyone. I too, have heard some horror stories. However, it didn't deter me from going through with it. I'm nearly a week out and I'm already on pureed foods. I had an egg this morning and some mashed potatoes tonight. So good to eat something other than Soup and pudding! Amazing how full you get in such a short time!
  8. Dr. Scott is a great surgeon. He did my step dad's RNY two years ago. I just had my sleeve this past Monday, but mine was with Dr. Lisa Martin Hawver with Mercy. I have minimal pain and am feeling great! I didn't have an appetite for 3 days.I had a 2 night stay in the hospital and everyone was so wonderful to me. It's hard to get used to drinking again. I can barely finish a protein shake, it takes me an hour, cuz I feel so full. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask And good luck!!
  9. Maybe it's just me, but I find myself using the bathroom every 20 - 30 minutes! I usually go once an hour anyway, cuz of my bladder, but it's seemed to have gotten worse. Has anyone experienced this? It's annoying!
  10. Hey Vix, I use EAS Advantage, for now. 100 or 110 calories and 17 grams of protein with zero to 1 gram of sugar. They come in liquid, $4.99 a pack of four, in several flavors. I've enjoyed them so far, but I'm getting sick of them and I have another week! You may have to try a few to see what you really like, cuz you'll be drinking the heck out of them! Also, plain greek yogurt is GREAT for protein! I get 23 grams in one cup of Fage. I've learned to mix in sugar free drink mix, pudding and it's great in cream soups to thicken.

    Returning to work?

I'm taking 6 weeks off. I have a desk job as well, but I'm up and down a lot. Don't push yourself or your body. Give it time to adjust. My coworker was sleeved in Sept 12 and was happy she took all 6 weeks. I say if you have the time, take it!

Confused. Can we or cant we..?

I was told no soda and no sugar. However, I think foods in moderation are alright. You can't avoid sugar altogether in certain things. I won't go back to soda, it's my weakness!
  13. I have the opposite problem. I've only gone once since I started my liquids.

    Latest NSV almost cried

I hope to use the word 'tiny' to describe my clothes one day! Keep up the good work

    Im so ready!

Good luck to you both! I'm on day 7 of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Yours will be here before you know it! My surgery is May 6th, can't wait!!
  16. You look incredible! Thanks for sharing your pictures. Gives me inspiration and motivation. I'm day 5 of my pre-op liquid diet. Hopefully in a few months I'll be sharing my weight loss pictures! Keep up the good work!!
  17. Day 2 of my pre-op liquid diet. I'm already sick of Protein shakes, pudding and broth. This is miserable! I had a headache that lasted 16 hours and I'm cranky as hell! My poor daughter is a saint for putting up with me. She made me laugh last night as she was chasing me around with a potato chip, taunting me. She's lucky I love her! I must confess I thought about throwing in the towel, but then I realized, I won't allow food to win. This time I'm going to succeed. I will power through this, like anything else I've encountered in my life. I'm stronger than the food!

    New Here!

You can lose the weight! My surgeon put me on a 1200 calorie diet. I used MyFitnessPal to help me out. Along with the low cals and exercise, I dropped 20 lbs! Seeing what is actually going into your body makes you realize all of the bad foods for you! Stay strong and positive, you can do it!!
  20. Thank you Tiffany! EAS Advantage makes some really good shakes. Just over 100 cals and zero or 1 gram of sugar! I got them at Target for $4.99 for a four pack, totally worth it! Glad I have this site for support
  21. I doubt that would cause any issues. You'll probably have a CBC and CMP done. They'll mainly be paying attention to your RBC and WBC. You could always call your doctor and ask.
  22. I'm in St. Charles. Who's doing your surgery? I work for Mercy, so mine is Dr. Lisa Martin-Hawver.
  23. In 2 days, I'll start my 2 week liquid diet. I've spent the last week eating and drinking whatever sounded good or could get my hands on. I'm fearful of never having some foods again, due to tolerance or texture. And I know I can't (or not supposed to) have soda ever again. My Diet Dr. Pepper will be missed dearly I'm going out with a bang tomorrow by having brunch and a cupcake to celebrate my birthday early! My surgery is May 6th and my birthday is on the 19th... Although I'm excited about my upcoming changes, I'm also scared. Food has been my crutch, my companion, my go-to and my love (before my daughter came along). Is it weird that I almost want to cry because it won't be there for me like before? It feels like I'm losing a loved one. Is this normal? Does anyone else feel or has felt this way?
  24. I'm also May 6th! I start my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow. Can't believe it's almost here. Been a long 6 months!
  25. Jessica H

    Really need advice..

I feel your pain! I start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow (surgery May 6th) and Diet Dr. Pepper is next to me as we speak! I feel like I'm losing a loved one. I HATE that I can't drink again, but somehow I know it'll be worth it in the end. I say drink it all up while you can! Bottoms up
