Hydration
I'm 12 days post-op. I'm having trouble keeping myself hydrated/fueled. I get full after two ounces of anything. I spent Wednesday in the hospital trying to balance my electrolytes and I don't want to do that again. Any ideas or suggestions that has worked for others? I'm only consuming about 200 cal a day. I want more, but I can't physically figure out how.

12 days post op. Protein and sleep question.
I'm about 12 days also. I can only take 1/4 cup/2oz of anything. Are you experiencing the same?

For anyone worried about staples on incisions
I used acetone. I had a terrible rash from the tape.

Researching doctors...
Excellent. I'm very please with my experience. I stopped taking pain meds while in the hospital. I feel good. No nausea, vomiting or trouble drinking Water.

Surgery Experience: Dr. Kelly 6/10/13
I'm down 20lbs! I'm officially in a 12/14. Woot Woot. I'm feeling great! I'm walking, not quite where I was before surgery, but I'm working on it.

Side Sleeper
When is it comfortable to sleep on your side again? I'm 4 days post-op. I had hernia repair also.

June surgery dates
Had surgery June 10th. I feel fantastic! I was walking the night of my surgery, day after, and walked two blocks yesterday. I sipped about 5 teaspoons of broth for dinner. I had trouble sleeping because I felt too full. I got up this morning, did some leg exercises to prevent DVT and I'm ready to hop on a plane to go home! Woot Woot It's weird how we worry about one thing and swap it for another. I bruised my leg pulling myself up from the hospital bed, now I'm nervous about DVT. (Rolling eyes)

Surgery Experience: Dr. Kelly 6/10/13
We are now at hotel Lucerna, after the leak test at hospital Angeles. The hotel is really comfortable and high service levels. They just delivered a fruit basket to our room. I'm feeling sore, like too many sit ups, but went for a walk anyway. . I feel strong. No hunger.

Help me convince people Mexico is safe
Ms. Antiband. Which hotel? I'm in Lucerna.

Experiences
I'm at Nova right now. It's clean. It feels like a county hospital in the U.S. rooms are private, but bring a translation app because nurses do not speak English, but I've not really had issues. Receptionist and doctors speak well.

Finally decided on Dr. Ramos-Kelly
I'm at Nova right now. It's like a county hospital in the U.S. rooms are private. They have an ICU, it's actually a decent equipped hospital. Night nurses do not speak English, so download a translations app. They are constantly cleaning, which I like. There are many places to eat around the hospital, for your companion.

Anyone with 180 pounds doing the sleeve?
I'm officially sleeved!
-
Surgery Experience: Dr. Kelly 6/10/13
I had my sleeve done yesterday by Dr. Kelly at Hospital Nova. I have nothing but great things to say. I'm a little sore this morning. I wish my back didn't hurt so bad from gas, but it's all good. My doc in the state missed that I had a hernia which was apparently pretty bad. I'm grateful that's fixed also. I was walking to the loo last night. I'm hoping things continue to get better today. Negatives: the couch for the hubby sucks. They never brought him blanket or sheets, so he's constantly peeling himself off the vinyl. No bottle Water to brush teeth. I'll write more later.

Dr. Kelly as a back up plan...but what do I do when i get back?
Employer sponsored plans do not ask about pre-existing conditions.

Anyone with 180 pounds doing the sleeve?
I'm almost 5'1. You'll never heard me admit I'm anything else. My highest weight 211. I'm 187 today. I get a sleeve on Monday. Honestly, I'd be happy with any loss that helps alleviate the co-morbidities.

Bullies.. Even as an adult... Cant wait to redeem myself
You should have filed a case with the EEOC. That would teach them a lesson!

June surgery dates
Two more days to surgery! I start a clear liquid diet today and ship the kids off to relatives for a few days.
-
Doc changed our hospital b/c other hospital equipment is "broken and sub-par"
I'm having my surgery w/ Dr. Kelly on Monday. We are scheduled at NOVA now and frankly, I feel much better with moving. It has a trauma center, that's a step up as far as I'm concerned. Bottom line, I chose my doctor. I trust him... If you don't have that comfort level in the doc, you should not book your appt.

boobs are getting smaller already :-(
Me too! I've only lost a drop in the bucket, but it's boobs! My bras are all loose around my milk jugs. . There's a lift in my future...I see it clearly.

Drained
I'm drinking lots of water! I have a 20oz and I drink three at work and another in the evening. It's weird because I don't really take meds for my pain usually, it just seems to be flaring up. I'll be honest. I wish I had taken a few days off this week because I can't even stand how serious I've been and to call me a B word would be polite.

Drained
In fear that I may sound whiny..I'm totally drained from this liquid pre-op. I'm not able to focus at work and my stomach growls so loud that people sitting across the meeting room ask if I'm okay. I'm halfway there, but I notice my arthritis is really hurting me this week. Anyone else experience the same?

June 10th Florence/Oasis
Me too. Nervous. I'm not really scared yet. I'm totally drained from this diet.

June 10th Florence/Oasis
oh my Gawd. I'm going to have the whole place to myself!!? I didn't ask for the royal treatment, but I'll take it!

Researching doctors...
I chose Dr. Kelly and am schedule for June 10th. I work for a company that makes surgical medical devices. I researched the docs who use those tools first, but could not afford the hospital stay. So, I asked the surgeons: 1. Does the hospital have a blood bank and crash carts in the rooms 2. What type of tools they use. How often do they replace them. Staples misfire...some brands more than others. It was astonishing that some were reluctant to answer the question! 3. Credentials. I insist on have a surgeon who is a FACS because that is not easy to obtain. 4. How many surgeries performed with percentage of complication rate. If they dance around this subject, RUN. I actually took my finalists to our engineers and surgeons. Dr. Kelly has professional credibility among the surgeons in the States. That mattered to me. It means he's actively involved in his profession.

June 10th Florence/Oasis
I'm scheduled for surgery next week. Is there anyone else scheduled for Florence/Oasis on June 10th? I'd love to hear from you!
