  1. Hey Corcor:

I am late responding, but I suspect you are Caribbean and your question sound so similar to mine. I am almost three months post op.

    1. I am able to eat small amounts of Caribbean food, but I watch my portions and go very slow. Usually after three or four spoons I am full.I am careful with rice and peas and macaroni an cheese.< /p>

    2. I notice that my nails break very easily and often. To prevent dryness I moisturizer daily. I take Biotin to deal with hair nail and skin issues. I have not seen any changes in my hair as yet. I am watching.

    3. I come from a large family and I have only told one of my sisters and two cousins. I just want to deal with this and not hear the talk an people's unsupportive opinions, you know how we can get.

The process is a process but I have no regrets. I cannot tell you how nice it is to try on clothes and it fits. I hope this helps answer some questions.

  2. This is the absolute best thread I have read, Laura you are a hoot!!!!!! People don't understand why we are so passionate about doing the right thing after this surgery. Enough people take short cuts and disobey the dr.'s orders, and suffer serious consequences, and medical emergencies, then the media will say that the surgery is dangerous and bad for people, foreclosing a new life for lots of poor souls. Please lady step away from the Cheerios.

  3. Hey it was great for me.for Pre-op liquid I just kept my eyes on the prize and was focused. Pre- op was only three days for me. After the surgery I had some nausea, I don't do well with anesthesia. I had no pain, so I did not use the pain meds. I have just completed the purée stage which was challenging, but because of the changes in my body, I was so excited I dealt with it. I have to add the people on the site really helped as well. Any possible question you may have get's answered here. I was sleeved on Arpil 22, 2013. I weight 250 Pre-op and weight 225 today. You will be just fine and loving your new body. Good luck!!!!

  4. I actually have been using Portion Control since I started the purée stage. I am eating a balanced diet. I do avoid bread, Pasta, soda, sugary drinks, alcohol, rice, and processed foods. I also do use a little sugar and honey, as I don't use any artificial sweeteners. I have been losing steadily which is fine for me. Pre- sleeve I was 250, post- op I am 225. I was sleeved on April 22, 2013. Very happy so far.

  5. I have lost 15 lbs so far. I did talk to my surgeon about it and he was okay with it. Of course I am not using sugar willy nilly, but staying away from the artificial sweetners, while still wanting to get my Water in somehow.

  6. I had my sleeve on the 22nd, I also have MS, so I stay away from artificial sweeteners of any kind because of the correlation between artificial sweeteners and MS. I use the regular frozen Popsicles.i feel my calorie intake is so low, the amount of carbs are negligible.
