  1. This is my first vacation since my VSG, and I'm just surprised at how comfortable I feel- comfortable walking around (my feet don't hurt, I can keep up without getting out of breath), I feel comfortable in a swimsuit (really, I walked around all day in my bathing suit without feeling the least bit self-conscious), and best of all I feel comfortable being in photos --- I feel like a normal person! LOL Here's one from Vero Beach,FL.. And heading to Disney in a few days!!! AND I WILL BE ABLE TO FIT IN ALL THE RIDES!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. @@Curvy AWESOME!!!!!!!
  3. But if you won't need diabetic meds & diet pils, how will she make money off you?? Jk, kinda. There are a lot of PCPs that just don't agree with weight-loss surgery. Mostly because they've seen the worst. (For instance, I had zero complications & am otherwise healthy after losing weight-- so my doc doesn't see me but once a year for a thyroid level. However, she sees ppl who are having complications, pain, and struggling with medical management much more often... So what do you think sticks in her head more??... The complications.) I knew surgery was the right thing for me because-- I just couldn't do it on my own. I know some would roll eyes at this. But honestly, I tried. And tried. And tried. I did the diet, exercised, drank pink stuff, counted carbs & cals, calculated points, ans took the magic pills... Nothing. Well, maybe 30 lbs or so, but I wanted to lose more than thirty lbs. I didnt want to go through all that and still be +80 lbs overweight. It was (for me) the best decision ever!
  4. @@Ava324 - yes, that's me!
  5. Good GI benefits to us as well w/ twists
  6. I LOVE yoga. I go to classes and practice at home as well. I feel so awesome afterwards- stretched, relaxed, peaceful. Yoga & meditation has helped me become a much more calm, grounded person. It's much easier now that I've lost weight. I can do so many binds and poses I couldn't have done at a heavier weight. It's fun to see the progress.
  7. @@Ava324 don't worry girl, lots of sag here too (the pic is just at a good angle) lol. I had to go higher weight / lower reps to start seeing the results I wanted. My pt originally had me doing 50 reps of low weight... I realized quickly this wouldn't get me the results I wanted. Love my fleur de lis! LOL
  8. You can do it!!
  9. @@Forsythia it's awesome that you started so early! It'll be well worth it (even though you can see changes as well on the scale- you will see it on your body!)
  10. I haven't seen any self-pay for less that $9600 in the US (for sleeve). Good luck!
  11. @Pookeyism- glad you're doing better & getting to the fun stuff!! @@Ginger Snaps- having a personal trainer to remind me of proper form was so helpful! Plus, I was a little intimidated getting back to the gym. I feel so comfortable now!
  12. Too long. I did atrophy. All I did at first was lots of cardio & light weights (5-15 lbs) and some body-weight exercises. I felt like I was doing so well, it didn't even occur to me that I was getting so weak. I started lifting heavier just shy of 1 year (maybe between 10-12 months?). I'd def suggest if it's your goal to lift, start maybe 3 months or so out-- once you've begun eating consistently and getting enough Protein & calories (whatever your numbers may be).
  13. Usually dehydration causes muscle cramps before electrolytes would. Try rehydration until you can get to your doc for blood work. Good luck!!
  14. Hey everybody! Hope everyone is doing AWESOME!! Let's brag/celebrate: Show me your muscles!!! I don't care where you are in your weight loss, I want to see you flex! (Guys & girls) - arms, legs, back, whatever. I just recently starting lifting more. I was a little discouraged at first because I had lost so much strength while losing weight. But now I'm starting to see progress, and I'm super excited!!
  15. I have Quest bars (also trying Krave bars for a change) quite often. I like them best: easy to eat, I think it tastes good, and the carb/calorie/protein count makes me happy.
  16. I also have to disclose that my surgeon makes "house calls" and visits you the night of and day after surgery. So, not the same situation. Also, my mother and I are both registered nurses. I figured we had this handled. Lol
  17. I had my surgery outpatient and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I was more comfortable outside the hospital & there was no need to stay longer than a couple hours after surgery.
  18. My favs: I run 2-3 days per week. BodyFlow or yoga 2-3 days per week (sometimes more). And weight lift 3 days per week.
  19. I am currently 127 lbs and wearing a size 8
  20. I don't like sweets either anymore. Cake & brownies just gross me out. I do however eat Greek yogurt & cottage cheese-- which I NEVER would have touched before.
  21. Do it!! I love love love lifting... It was discouraging at first to lose as much strength as I did, but I just have to figure : new body, new needs, new goals. Baby steps. Lol
  22. The happiest place on Earth... Besides Disney of course.
