  1. I was told (after surgery) by a very overweight woman (eating a Chick-Fil-A sand which) that "protein makes you fat"...
  2. @@inittothinit - Thanks! And you're right, any weight is better than no weight!
  3. My doc allowed drinking after week 5. But I waited 11 months (ok, I'm not much of a drinker anyway). Lol I had 4 oz of white wine and had to CRAWL (yes, really) back to my hotel room. But I sobered up very quickly. For your first time drinking, I'd suggest around family or close friends, just to see how your stomach reacts -- don't want to embarrass yourself.
  4. I think I lost 22 lbs my first week. 40lbs by 8 weeks. 112 lbs by a year. Obviously you lose more slowly as you have less to lose. After the first month, 1-2 lbs per week was normal until about 7 months out. Then the weight loss slowed. Now I'm losing about 1 pound per month- ish. 25 is more than reasonable in that time frame... I personally like to have smaller expectations-- less likely to be disappointed. More likely to be astounded.
  5. ** but let me disclose, I already had stretch marks on my belly, so I was going to happen no matter what.
  6. In the past year I haven't touched potatoes, rice, bread, or pasta. (Something I once thought was impossible.) It's amazing how not having it reduced the craving. I have zero desire for starchy carbs. (But I do love my fruit carbs!)
  7. Loose skin & shrinking boob syndrome didn't happen until the very end for me (especially the boobs- probably just the last 15-20 lbs)
  8. Let's see if this works: http://selfpaysleeve.blogspot.com/
  9. There's a large list floating around if you use the search box. I paid $9600 in Louisiana.
  10. @@mi75 - It's however YOU want to live. Some people eat pizza after weight loss surgery. Some people eat clean. There's more than one way to skin a cat??? ... Uh, you know what I mean. Do what's realistic for YOU. (Although, more than likely, those who've changed their food choices do better with weight loss, cravings, and head hunger??)
  11. Hopefully you won't WANT to.
  12. What I eat most: chicken, beef, shrimp, veggies, yogurt, fruit, nuts, cheese. I don't feel like it gets old, because I'm not a slave to food anymore. It's nourishment, as it should be. For a few months eating was a "chore" Now it's just necessary for life.
  13. Go to My Ticker. Then Add To Signature. I think. Lol
  14. Yes, there's no "time limit." But you do get max results in the first year, so take advantage.
  15. I'll def be trying 5x5. Sounds like what I need. Thanks y'all!!
  16. Maybe she doesn't know enough people. Lol Seriously, find a new PCP, because this one will obviously not be helpful after the surgery. You need everyone on your team, including your doc.
  17. Thanks. My gym offers that, and it's really fun. But I was looking more for heavier weights, lower reps.
  18. I love to do my cardio at home (outdoors). But I also love going to the gym. If you haven't been in a long time, I'd suggest a trainer just to show you good form. It'll def be a confidence booster, which will help you keep going.
  19. I'm a year out now and I've been exercising since the beginning. Walking at first, then jogging/running. I attend yoga classes, BodyFlow classes (think: yoga, Pilates), CxWorx (core exercise classes), and workout at home (30 lb weight & body weight exercises). I'm just so happy with my 112 lb weight loss! Here's my frustration: When I was 170 -180 lbs (nearly a decade ago), I used to lift heavier weights (bench press 75 lbs, leg press +900). So, nowhere near bodybuilder, but somewhat strong for a girl under 5'. I then gained weight/ stopped exercising/ stopped lifting... Then came wls... My current weight is 128 lbs. I figured I wouldn't be able to lift what I used to, but I didn't realize I'd be this weak. The BAR feels heavy. No really, just the bar. And leg press? 126 lbs. I feel so weak. I hate it. Yeah, yeah, Rome wasn't built in a day. Lol I'm trying to look at it this way: GREAT, I HAVE NEW GOALS TO WORK ON. But inside, I'm like, damn, what did you do to yourself??? Anyway, maybe this was more of a rant? Sorry. But any advice from those of you who enjoy weights would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! ????
  20. @@Jen35 the above is correct. Also, if/ when it happens again ask the doctor to check your pancreatic enzymes (amylase & lipase). Since the pain is occurring after alcohol consumption, your pancreas could be involved. Good luck!
  21. Do you have any clue what size your original surgeon created your stomach to be?
