    Acai Bowls

Does anyone eat these? I found them at a Juice Generation. They range in calories depending in if you get almond or peanut butter and are made with almond milk and acai berries.

    but.. I'm thirsty!

I used to forget but it actually hurts to drink after I eat and I find I have to wait sometimes more like an hour before I can drink anything. I have gotten used to it. It's just hard trying to explain to people why you don't drink when you eat. I try the "no thank you" route but it doesn't always work.

1 year and three weeks later...

For me I see myself getting smaller and I don't picture myself as still heavy. My hw was 232. I am now 155 at 6 months post op. What I have a hard time understanding is how I carried around and extra 77 pounds.
  7. I love to hear success stories. Such an inspiration!! You look fantastic. Thank you for sharing.
  8. I remember the 3 week stall but is there also a big stall at the 6-7 month mark. I am 10-15 from goal and haven't lost anything in about 3 weeks. Just wondering if everyone stalls or am I leveling off? Hw was 232. Sw 218 and current weight 155. DOS 3/26/13.

Is there a stall at 6-7 months

Good to know I'm not the only one. Don't get me wrong I'm thrilled with the loss but just wondering if anyone else was experiencing it.

Good luck to you. If you end up having any questions at all please let me know. I honestly have to say the last 6 months haven't been a picnic because I feel as though I have had to learn how to eat all over again, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!! My email address is idreamofcupcakes@hotmail.com. Please feel free to email me or contact me here.

Are you going in at 10 or surgery time is 10? I'm excited for you. I remember that day very well. I will ask friends in recovery to be on the lookout when you come out. They are all excellent nurses. Good luck!!

You will on Thursday. They can't give the exact time until it is confirmed by the hospital. You will have to go 2 hours before your scheduled time.
  16. I have been reading the comments about people not being sure about having cosmetic surgery because they had the sleeve for their health and not for vanity reasons. I have a little experience with all of this. I was not always heavy. About 3 years ago I was 150 lbs and had just lost 40 pounds (took about one year). I had liposuction to get rid of the saddle bags and love handles. My surgeon did such an amazing job that I started to work for him. I am a registered nurse and I now do all of his private nursing. It is so awesome to see women empowered to fix little things that bother them about their bodies. And they range in age from their 30's to their 70's. Having face work and body work. But try not to think of it as vanity. Try to think of it as an investment in self esteem and confidence. You may not realize how that will make you so much stronger in other ways. Long story short I had to take a medication called megace last year which caused me to gain 80 pounds in 6 months leaving me about 100 pounds overweight. I was discriminated against by people in restaurants, department stores, grocery stores, etc.... I ended up having the sleeve done (for both health reasons and I was tired of yo-yo dieting and the depression that came with it). I am sure it was the best thing I've every done for myself. The next step? Planning for plastic surgery- I deserve it and so do you!!!

    Anyone with UnitedHealthcare?

I have UHC. I had a bmi 40. Had to see my PCP every month for weigh ins and supervised diet for 6 months- ended up having sleep apnea so could have gotten away with bmi 35. Psyche eval, nutrition consult, endoscopy to rule out h-pylori. Total time from when the office submitted to approval was less than one week.

How is it going? Are you any closer to having surgery with Dr. Kini? All is well for me. I am down almost 80 pounds and only 10-15 more to go.

    Low Vitamin D

I am 6 months post-op. Had a marginally low Vitamin D before surgery and again at 5 month check up. I am not totally compliant with the supplements. Seems like so much work. The Calcium has to be separate from the Multivitamin and the multivitamin makes me so nauseous. I ordered all of my meds from Bariatric Advantage. Does this happen to anyone else ? What are good Multivitamins?

    Dr. Daniiel Herron

I used his associate Dr. Kini. He is fantastic! I was sleeved on march 26th of this year. Highest weight 232. Surgery weight 218. Today's weight 171.
