  1. There's an android app called "eat slower" that lets you set time between bites. I have the same problem. Ive started taking reading material to the table (and apologizing to my wife.) My whole family scarfs food down and frankly it makes me uncomfortable. It's hard to watch and not want to keep up. I try to precut my bites and spread them out on the plate so clearing it becomes a long slow journey.

My PSYCH said to separate the food into 4 quarters and eat one quarter every five minutes, roughly. That might work for you, it didnt do much for me.

My boyfriend pretty much inhaled 2 servings of food and his dessert plate last night all while i was on my 1 and only mini plate! i used to enjoy eating with my family but ive taken to most nights serving them first and then having my plate. i also find it uncomfortable to eat when there is alot of noise around me. i understand wanting to keep up. its not easy but hang in there!

  2. I never had any nausea after my surgery until this past weekend. I get a sick to my stomach feeling that comes and goes on and off throughout the day, but heightened in the mornings/evenings. I know for a fact that im not pregnant. i havent tried any new foods....its not so bad that i feel like i want to vomit but def comes in waves.

I dont get the feeling after eating....in fact i only seem to feel it when I am NOT eating. if i eat a little something or have some coffee it goes away from a while. i get about 300 calories a day.

  3. You are so lucky - my hair AND my eyelashes are falling out - I'm almost at 6 months out so hopefully will slow down soon!! Chin hairs that I have to pluck out are doing just fine though!! : )

yes the one annoying chin hair i get has no problem growing lol. are you taking Biotin and does that help? i havent started anything but a Multivitamin yet and i even have trouble remembering to take that!

  4. I have 2 scales, a taylor digital and a classic dial scale. Both of them drive me absolutely bonkers. i cannot get a consistent reading on them no matter what i do. I could step on my digital in the morning and then step on it 3 more times and each time ill get a different reading. Both of these scales are also off by 3-5 lbs compared to my drs office. I dont have my next checkup until 1/23 and i really have no idea how much i weigh.

so can anyone recommend one that is accurate but under 100 bucks maybe?

  5. i didnt bring much and was only there for a day. i had my phone and charger. i brought a book which i read like 10 pages of. i wore the same clothes home that i came to hospital in. i did bring my own robe b/c that makes me comfy. the hospital gave me all the toiletries i needed. CHAPSTICK is a must. i was sooo dry after surgery and all they give you until after your leak test is sponges to wet your mouth so dont forget this!

  6. I am a newbie, and am very embarrassed about this, but occasionally, when I sneeze real hard or after the 4th or 5th sneeze in a row, or laugh a real hard gut laugh, i may (not always) experience urinary incontinence (TMI, I know:( can anyone tell me, if after weight loss, does this get better? or not effect it at all?

yes it gets better! i had a horrible time with this. i constantly had to go to the bathroom like every two hours even in the middle of the night. if i tried to hold i would pee my pants a bit .... forget about laughing or sneezing lol. since surgery, i have to go alot less and i am able to hold it without leaking!

  7. So I don't know if this will help you or not but what works for me is to judge myself by my actions, not by my outcomes. Before you "feel like a failure", ask yourself if you did everything you could and should have done. Did you eat Protein? did you drink your fluids? did you eat junk? If you answered yes to the first two and no to the last, then you did your job. Your body needs time to do it's job. Don't obsess about what you can't control. And the fact is, we can control our actions, but I have had to accept that I do not control my weight. Some complex mechanism seems to be in charge, and it is not me. Don't judge yourself based on stuff you don't control. I will also say that there is some research out there to suggest that we stall for a while once we lose 10% of our body weight, and based on your ticker, that's how much you seem to have lost. Rest assured it will come off, just at it's own pace, not yours. Unfortunately :( Having said all that, I wish I could just give you a hug because I can totally relate to the frustration and hopelessness you must be feeling. ((hugs))

I totally agree with you GG. From the beginning I have refused to set weight loss goals. My goals have been to stick with my plan... 60+g of Protein, 60+ou of Water, and 60 min of exercise. As long as I stick with the plan I have been successful. I do weigh daily, but I don't let it control my emotions or my life. I'm 6 pounds away from goal and loss has slowed down, but I feel great. I have halfheartedly participated in the Thanksgiving and Christmas challenges, but those have not been nearly as inspiring as the exercise challenges.

OP have you calculated your BMR or TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure)? Both will help you figure out how much u can lose in a day.

btw, congrats on all your success!

  9. thanks laura, i had no problem the first few weeks getting my Water in but ever since last saturday i have been so busy that ive been struggling to get even half that amount in. def gonna have to work on this for a bit. i have been overweight my entire life and i guess im just getting impatient.

I know, that's been me too.. It's the damn holidays! Water for me even after a year is a full time job...

Ok I'm super busy today I'm about to go shopping (again) and I have a party at 2 let's make a promise to get our water in today!

As far as patience? At some point I just told myself to chill out. I said give it a year. And if after trying at this for a year (really trying) if you still haven't lost a good amount by then, then you can freak out, obsess and become impatient :)

DEAL! i promise to get my water in today. im almost done with a 20oz bottle so ill just refill while i finish up my shopping today! have a great day

  10. Heads up girlie you got this! My weight loss has been nothing but stalls with a little bit of loss here and there..

One thing, push that Water, at least 64 oz a day. If I don't do that, I do not lose at all, plain and simple :)
