  1. FYI I don't eat more than 50 carbs a day and that's the most. Usually it's been 30-40. So yea ummmm thanks ;)

wow Donaboss! i cant believe what this conversation turned into. being in the same boat as you, i understood completely what you were trying to say and why you started with the liquids again. i read your food diary on mfp. hang in there. we will get through this! im not going to take offense to what anyone else said b/c people dont know the full story and i dont want that to sound snotty b/c its hard to convey tone in a post!

when we stall, we try different things to jump start the wieght loss again, whether it be supplementing with shakes, upping/lowering calories/carbs. etc...

  2. Ok, so I am 9 days post op......cruising right along on full liquids. No major problems other than the expected. The last couple of days have been good, no real gas......the normal, expected bowel movement..... So I got home a couple hours ago and used the bathroom, no problems

I am making a homeade turkeypot pie. I make a good roux and also had some very homeade turkey gravy in frig( think pudding at room temp......like I said, very homeade) I Am adding this gravy to the already made bechamel base. I decided to taste the sauce.....few mouthfuls...hmmmm good.

I had a few mouthfuls of this turkey gravy.....yummy....... Finished putting the pot pie together.......and then it hit me....... Oh lord........."please let me make it down my hallway" I head down the hallway which now seems hundreds of feet long....on some sort of weird straight leg duck walk......hang a couple rights into the bedroom and then the bathroom.(and of course turning requires bending the legs which brings butt flinching to a new level).....I'm happy to say I made it.....but OMG .....it was, shall I say, an explosive situation.

Was this my sleeve telling me it is in charge and not to even think about trying to send it something it's not ready for? Or just some weird coincidence? It just seems tough to imagine that from the few mouthfuls of sauce and gravy to the relief were only 10-15 minutes tops......

i had the same reaction when i tried gravy so early out. your sleeve was telling you that you werent ready for that. now at almost 4 months out i can enjoy a little gravy and it sits pretty good! listen to your sleeve!

  3. I didn't see anyone say they were eating crap! I myself still eat entirely less just some of us have had no side effects from the we've which can be good and bad!

ThNk you!!! I was just gonna say that. Who said we were eating junk food? I am just trying to say that I can eat more than 4 ounces. I don't hAve to take sips and I only drink Water, no sugar liquids. Did I try pizza? Yes I have . Can I eat more than 4 ounces? Yes! All I eat is healthy food which doesn't bother my stomach. I know I started with 213 and my doc said I won't lose as fast as others who are heavier and I was stuck at 178-180 for like 3 weeks so I started my liquid diet again to help the weight loss. Ohh and my last doc check up apparently I have this bacteria I forgot what is called but it makes u bloated and slows the weight loss. Next month is my 3 month check up and they will be giving me antibiotics. It's funny how people judge others so fast. Just bc I can't lose 50lbs in one month does not mean I'm eating junk! :) and I understand mamato2. Thank you for answering her question for me :)... We are on the same boat.

These kinds of posts scare me. Being pre-op, I wonder if the physical sacrifice of such a huge surgery is worth it when your struggles seem to be the very same and weight loss is minimal.....

Not to sound like an asS or anything, but what made you even want to see if your sleeve could tolerate anything? Like, I don't even want to take the chance snacking on foods I shouldn't or can't have. I guess what's the point of going through all this, to go back to eating like before?

I didn't see anyone say they were eating crap! I myself still eat entirely less just some of us have had no side effects from the we've which can be good and bad!

agreed! i def have not been eating crap! i dont even crave sweets or junk. i have had pizza though also. i was just meaning i was worried b/c i can eat more than 4oz sometimes. depends on what it is.... sarah jane....its pretty impossible to go back to eating like i did before.... anew tanya.... this is the BEST decision i ever made. and im imposing a liquid diet to jumpstart my weightloss since i am in a stall. stalls happen to everyone and im about halfway to my goal! you are still going to struggle a bit and you have to control what goes in your mouth still...

  4. So I had surgery on December 30 and I can eat whatever I want. I only lost 30lbs and I'm between 181-178.. It sucks. So today I started my phase one liquid diet and I have to say I wasn't hungry or craving food :) . Hopefully this will work to put me back to weight loss

me too i can pretty much eat anything and that worries me. so since yesterday ive started just with Protein Shakes and something very minimal. i want to break into onderland by the time of my next drs appt on 3/20

  5. Eat for no more than 30 minutes. At the end of 30 minutes--you are done. The amount you can eat varies from person to person and day to day, but giving yourself no more than 30 minutes prevents grazing. I am 10 weeks out and can never eat more than 1 egg at a time.

im more than 3 months out and i still only eat one egg with a little shredded cheese on top. i can eat more of certain things, depending on how dense the food is. i usually dont go past the 20 to 25 minute mark when eating.

  6. I had my gastric sleeve surgery approximately four weeks ago. I lost 15 lbs. pre-operation and 15 lbs. within one week after surgery. The scale has not moved since. I am sticking to my diet and Protein and Water intake and just in the last week and a half started exercising every single day for at least 1/2 hour. So in three weeks of eating less than ever, all the water and protein and exercise and nothing?! I know so many people that have had this done and they lost in excess of 50 lbs. in first couple of months. What could I be doing wrong?

agree with other posters on a few things def check out butterthebeans profile and as teachamy said someone posts about this everyday! it happened to me too. i lost 13 lbs the first week post op and then stalled from week 2 until around my 2 month mark and then out of no where lost another 16. hang in there your body is in shock and needs time to adjust.

  7. Dang. I sent a picture of me to some friends, and they think my (usually basketball) round face is "too thin!!" "don't lose any more weight, you'll look like calista Flockhart!" (not skin tone; skinny).

I am still 218 pounds! I am happy with the changes. I want to get to 175 at least! I told them they will just have to get used to seeing a smaller face. But...hmmm. I'm a bit bummed.

They even used the word "gaunt." Dang.

ive gotten this too. people keep saying my face looks sunken in and gaunt. i too am still over 200lbs. its probably just the shock of them seeing such rapid weight loss in so little time. I dont see it like that. im happy with the way i starting to look so to i hope you dont get too bummed b/c you are doing a great job!

  8. I would have been furious and embarrassed. Embarrassed only because she gave a different answer than you. My parents have taken it upon themselves to tell almost every single person they know. I'm pissed off about that. It's my story to tell, not theirs. I've only told my best friend and my husband (obviously). I just don't want my personal story to end up broadcasted on Facebook. People who do that have to find a way to make all life about themselves. It's selfish of them. And they look shocked when your mad that they tell people. My parents came to help us with my 10month old while I was in the hospital and almost every story they told was about how they were talking to someone and how that someone knew someone who did it. It makes me wonder if this topic is the start of every conversation they have! Ugh! I could vent all day. I'm sorry that you were caught off guard.

yeah i guess that was it i was just caught "off guard" i chose who i wanted to tell and whether she told on purpose or not i was just kind of embarrassed b/c i was saying a different answer. plus it was said on front of someone who i know blabs around. there are 150+ employees in my store. ill just wait til they talk about something diffrent i guess. i wouldnt change getting my sleeve no matter what anyone thinks!

  9. I had only told 4 of my close friends at work about my surgery. I was just standing around with a few people and one remarked how much weight i lost recently they were asking how i had done it and i was starting to say diet and exercise and. one of the people i told said oh yeah well she had surgery. umm gee thanks Jerky. great now everyone is gonna know. news spreads like wildfire in this place.

  10. If this stall isn't over by Monday I'm considering going back to liquids only for a few weeks..I've been the same weight since Jan 7th..(the day I started soft foods)..I'm working my but off in the gym..and I'm really getting discouraged .

this happened to me as soon as i started soft foods as well. just like mcbutterpants. i was stalled for more than 3 weeks. then i just went to the dr last thurs and BAM i was down another 13lbs. your body just needs time to catch up. its in shock right now. dont sweat it, you will start losing again.

  11. 2month follow up yesterday---after a dissapointing one month f/u i am so happy to say that my weight loss has resumed ive lost another 13 lbs! i am now down to 213 from my starting weight which was 257... HIP HIP HOORAY! i am ecsatic. The stall has finally ended!!!!!!

the dr would actually like me to UP my calories as i am only taking in about 400 daily.

  12. omg i watched the replay of this last night too and i was floored. i kept thinking how could she even fit that much in her stomach after the surgery. she was eating from a few different plates. and how the hell could she not get up and walk. i was terrified to NOT walk after my surgery for fear of the blood clots. so sad for the little boy....i felt like this gave me motivation to keep going wtih my weight loss plan though...i have to control what goes in my mouth as hard as it is sometimes.i still hold the power.

  13. I dont have one story either b/c gorging myself on food was an everyday thing pretty much. everday id leave for work and stop of to get Breakfast usually at dd or mcds and id get one of those bakery sandwiches hash browns and a large latte or from mcds itd be 4 hashbrowns and 2 sausage biscuits.

As soon as id be almost done at work i would think where i could sneak to eat for lunch. if it was:

Subway- id dog down a foot long sandwich

wendys- spicy chicken sandwich with large fries an order of nuggets, 2 bacon cheeseburgers and lf frosty

taco bell- one of those border bowls 2 tacos and a burrito or 8-10 tacos

pizza- 2 to 3 slices or a chicken roll and slice

then id go home and start cooking dinner and eat that and then snack later on.

thinkng about this now makes me feel sick to my banana sized stomach. even though its only a little over two months out i really dont miss the food, i dont miss that feeling that i have to unbutton my pants cus i cant breathe.

  14. I went to my Dr today thinking it was my 6th weight in only to have his office call me later to tell me it was only my 5th appointment and August did not count. I have read other posts of this happening and I always thought "They must be really upset and disappointed." Now I am upset and disappointed. I know it will happen eventually, I have to keep jumping through those hoops, but it is still upsetting.

brandy---- you should call amy immediatley and ask her about this. i had my weigh ins in april may june july aug and sept....thats all magnacare had required even though the dr was telling me differently... check with her ASAP!!!
