thats wonderful congrats! hope you got chapstick for the hospital that is a must!

i ate pickles, tomatoes with salt and small cans of spinach with lemon and garlic which really helped. it gets easier by day 5 hang in there!
-
Congrats on your success! what an amazing story, gives me something to look fwd to so early out! did you hit alot of stalls?

Nothing much prepares us. The best advice anyone ever gave me was put away the scale for 2 weeks and get on with living life. We don't want our weight to define us....yet we often let our losses (or lack thereof) dictate our happiness. Let's not do that anymore.
i just responded to your pm hoping this one goes through
Butter, so true!!!!
My husband has been hiding the scale from me - I only get to weigh once per week (this was after an incident when I "only" lost .5 pounds right after surgery...yeah, another story for another day).
I might take your advice on putting it away for a couple of weeks.
As always, thanks for your insight.

thanks for this post. I sent you a pm the other day btw. I am at a stall as well, i have not lost anything since the fiirst week, i lost 13 pounds that week and now nothing. which is very discouraging. I keep panicking asking what am i doing wrong and thinking that my sleeve just isnt working. I have no problem getting fluids in as i am a very thirsty person. and i get about 60 grams of Protein a day. Hoping we both break through soon! keep me updated on your progress. maybe we could be buddies if you like since our stats are so similar and our surgery dates are only 2 days apart?

how long after surgery does the sensation of being full take for you to actually notice? im 3 weeks out (yesterday) and i cant always tell if im full or not. If i drink something real fast i get the caught in the throat feeling but i havent really been able to tell yet with food .sometimes i stil feel like maybe i could eat another bite but i stop after the 30 mins no matter what

i did not fast for my pre surgical testing. I was allowed my pre op diet the day before the surgery but i was so nervous that all i had was tea and broth all that day.
At my pre surgical testing i was given 2 pepcid pills and instructed to take one the night before the surgery with Water and i was to take one the morning of the surgery with one sip of Water so there would not be any acid in my stomach.
i brushed teeth as usual.

good luck. hope you recovery goes as well as i feel mine is. see you on the sleeved side!

Direct from some of Reddit’s finest ladies, a non-exhaustive list of the weird things we have all engaged in from time to time.1. itsjill 2. klcnaDo shower math when you wake up to see how long you have to sleep and if it’s even worth showering or go back to bed and put your hair in a bun for work.
3. bekahramaWhen hairs fall out in the shower I don’t want to clog the drain so I put them on the shower wall and do a little swirl so they are neat and ready to be put in the garbage when I’m done.
4. cupcakegiraffeLaughed or coughed so hard when you’re on your period and more blood or a blood clot comes out. Then you have to do a quick waddle walk to the bathroom cause you feel like you just turned on the faucet.
5. circus_snatch 6. MoreNutella
Sit in a strange position when farting, so the fart bubble does not go up the cooter.
7. flying_pekineseTried on a shirt that was too small, then started to panic in the dressing room after realizing how restrictive it is when you can’t get it back off over the boobs.
Start thinking that you either have to 1. buy the shirt and live in it now, or 2. they’re going to have to use the jaws of life to remove it.
8. femmenonAfter shaving, wear silky or satin-y PJs.
>I roll around in my bed going, “SMOOOOOOTH!”Open my mouth really wide while putting mascara on. Also, redoing updos 30 times even though I’m pretty sure it looks the same every time.
11. DrenkenKegels. Kegels in meetings at work. Kegels in the movie theatre. Kegels at dinner with friends. Kegels everywhere. If you’re talking to me, and I’m sitting, I am definitely kegeling.
12. amandalaurenInstantly every girl who reads this does a Kegel.
Got on all fours in front of a mirror to see what doggystyle looks like from the dude’s perspective. Not bad.13. antichrist_superstar 14. febreeze358When you wear a tight pair of pants and there is the seam that creates a little bulge right in the crotch, when you sit it presses against your vagina nicely, so you wiggle back and forth a bit to enjoy it. I can’t be the only women that has felt it or enjoyed it.
15. fandabidozichuDon’t have a tampon when you start your period… fold up toilet paper, place in the middle of underwear, struggle to pull up pants without dislodging the padding, walk unnaturally in an attempt to not mess up the paper… failure. Just… failure. Bloody, shredded paper in your underwear when you get home.
16. KlaireBopCup shower Water in my boobies then unleash the Water torrent on my walls/toes.
Spending 30 mins in front of the mirror trying to get the “cat eye” liquid eyeliner just right. So far I’ve never succeeded.17. Waitwhatnow 18. thenewchornogrophers
Place hands in crotch for warmth.
19. reighbookerThat amazing back/stomach scratch when you take your bra off after a long day. Best feels ever.
20. rcmeadowsI stick my hand down my pants all the time- watching tv, playing on the computer. It’s not sexual, I just hold my lady while I watch Netflix.
Measure to see if our hair can cover our boobs/nipples in a playboy manner when just down. We all do it, I am sure of it.21. sociallyawkwardjess 22. KMKSouthie2001
We masturbate to fall asleep quicker. But once you have one orgasm you’re like, oh wait, I can have another. So begins a vicious cycle.
23. RosieJoEnjoy the rush of freedom and lack of constriction that comes from taking one’s bra off at the end of the day. Be free, my titties!
24. scooplSometimes I look down at my nipples and think they’re too soft and big so I flick them to make them small and pointy.
Double checked to make sure I didn’t accidentally put in two tampons. Let me die of embarrassment now.25. _dreamline 26. goatcheese
When trying to poop in public we try to pretend we’re not in the stall and act dead silent if someone comes in. We won’t poop until they’ve left the bathroom. If they came to poop there is usually a poop stalemate. Nobody wins in a poop stalemate.
In other situations in a public wash room: keeping the flusher held down while taking a tremendous dump to avoid smell and noise. Don’t deny you haven’t done this!
27. iamseriouslyPurposely don’t shave vag when going out to avoid a hook-up.
The period check. When you’re sitting down, you “accidentally” drop something and while you’re bending over to pick it up, you sneak a peek between your legs to make sure you’re not leaking.
Also, indiscriminately doing the “check” for ANY fellow female who asks, regardless of who they are — even your worst enemy or someone you’ve never met before.
omg thank you lipsticklady i was cracking up almost crying reading some of these!

every place is different but i had my surgery 11-12-13 and i did the pre surgical testing on 11-4-13. i think they called me like maybe 5 days before the testing was scheduled, so hopefully theyll be calling any day now. i know its frustrating believe me i was just posting something like this a few weeks ago! good luck to you

Hello friends! Today is my first day back to work and my first POST op post! Tomorrow i am 3 weeks out. My surgery went very well, my surgeon said that my liver had shrunk down nicely The walked me into the OR and when i got on the table i suddenly began to cry out of fear. The next thing i remember is waking up in recovery.
all in all i would say my recovery is going really well. I had horrible, terrible despicable gas pains for the first 2 weeks, the pains went all the way up to my shoulder and walking and gas x did not help not one bit. other than that i was only in the hospital overnight. I didnt have too much other pain, just more like discomfort and soreness. as of today i am down 28lbs so i am 229 now.
I lost 15 on the preop and 13 since the surgery. i was a little disappointed with that, but i also did just get a visit from aunt flo yesterday (TMI) so im hoping thats the issue and that i havent stalled already.

yeah im totally not loving this site today at all. Things are weird on it and i feel like i cant find anyone. It wont let me select my surgeon and it has my state wrong and somehow i went from having 202 posts to like over 500.

Hoping i have no issues with the surgery. Good luck to everyone having surgery today and my 11-12-13 buddies! Im scared nervous and excited all at once.

Hope,
DON'T cook dinner for your family. Smell and sight will make you hungry. Trust me they can survive without you. When I was on my 12 week liquid diet I moved to the den during dinner time. I am the one who always cooked dinner for everyone. They made out okay. I assume they are your biggest supporters. It's only for another 4-6 weeks. Explain to them what you are going through, I'm sure they will understand.
i wish that were the case Bob but my kids are 2 and 5 and my bf wouldnt know whether to scratch his watch or wind his a$$ if i wasnt there. lol.. my biggest supporter and one of my only supporters is...well..me.. and all the wonderful people on here. I even banned my bf from coming to the hospital with me b/c he will stress me too much so my sister will be taking me.

i dont have much advice as i am still pre op but if you are looking to try some different foods, try getting some recipes from theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. i know she has some great recipes. I have heard that her ricotta bake is awesome and i cant wait to try it once i get to the soft phase! good luck

Agreed and drink them slowly. Keep busy, try to keep your mind occupied with other things. I'm excited but very anxious about Tuesday, for me this week is flying by. I've lost 16 lbs in the week and a half on my liquid diet. I've kind of shut down my mind and told myself this is all there is to eat/drink. I'm lucky, really haven't felt very hungry
Im supposed to be drinking 6 Protein Shakes yesterday i drank 4 so maybe an extra 2 will help. So far i find the hardest part is when i am cooking dinner for my family. Im so used to "taste testing" Last count was 9lbs down. i know ive lost more though. ill wait until i get weighed by the coordinator though, my scale is retarded and will give me 5 diff readings. i got all my important papers in order already so ill prob just spend the weekend cleaning the house and tackling the mess that is my closet.

Asking For Prayer And Positive Thoughts
in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Posted
ill say a prayer for you as well. i felt the same as you. it took my insurance about a month to finally send my approval letter to my surgeon when i was originally told it would take 2 weeks. however keep this in mind, i called the insurance comapny directly a week and a half after the paperwork was officially submitted and was told it was approved. good luck to you!
