  1. All i have left to do before i go back for my second consultation with the surgeon is my colonoscopy on friday and my final weigh in with my PCP. I am feeling so tense and anxious. Everything on my body feels tense my head my shoulders my back. I feel like all i think about is the surgery.... I just want it to be done already. Any suggestions for stress relief?

  2. Sounds like you're asking if they have to be exactly 1 month apart?

Check with your surgeon's office. You'll want to be sure for your ins requirements.

I know one of my months was 5 weeks apart and another month 3 weeks apart.

Yes this is exactly what i am asking. Do they have to be exactly one month apart. so far i have weighed in on 4/29, 5/25, 6/29, 7/27 and 8/31. my next one is scheduled for 9/21 is that far enough apart?

  3. Well I had my weigh in with my pcp on saturday. I gained 5 lbs from last time when i was 252. I kinda knew it (aunt flo is in town as well so maybe that added like a pound). So when i started i was 251 and now im 257. great....just great.... I have my last weigh in on sept 21 and then i will go back for my second surgical consultation.

My Pcp suggested for me to lose btwn 5-10 lbs. I hope this can be done in 3 weeks.

The question is for those of you that had a 6 month requirement.... were they very strict about the visits being a month apart exactly . For the most part my visits have been but this last one is about a week shy of being a month..

  4. I have been overweight my whole life but at 250lbs it really started to sink in. There is constant pain in my body whether im standing or sitting. I can only go up about 5 steps before im winded. I can only tolerate 30mins at the park with my children (5 and 2). I want to be able to run around with them. Every 2 hours like clockwork i have to go to the bathroom... as an above poster said, i am tired of being tired!

  5. thanks so much for everyones responses. i think i am going to do with the 2 weeks off then.i tend to go a little crazy if i stay home anyway. the last thing i need to do is figure out if anyone can come stay with me to help with my 2 girls ages 5 and 2. the 5yr old will be in school and the 2 yr old can go to daycare, but ill have to figure out the nights since my boyfriend works at night

  6. I know this question has been asked by so many others in the past, but now i am going to ask it.

(i do not have a surgery date yet, im hoping for october) but how long should i take off work? I am a book keeper so i am sitting most of the time but i do some lifting (such as boxes of rolled coins)

Originally i thought of taking 4 to 6 weeks off b/c i am entitled to 60% of my pay during this time. but im wondering if i really need that much time and honestly i am not sure that i can afford to give up 40% of my pay for that long. is it safe just to maybe take 2 weeks vacation time and then come back and perhaps just ask for help for the lifting portions?

Any input is appreciated! thanks all!

  8. It depends on the Nut and Ins. My ins and Nut made it clear...no loss, no surgery. So I was absolutely a stickler.

Are you not following the plan? If you're following the plan and not losing I would think they'd be a bit more understanding. However, if you are showing that you have not changed your eating habits and are not taking this seriously, then perhaps they'll give you a hard time.

Also, if you are following the plan and not losing, your Nut should be able to help you make tweaks that help you be successful. Make him/her earn that check and help you. Don't just send you out to fend for yourself.

When i saw the nutrtionist we talked about foods i liked, eating habits and focused on what to eat post op. I have been weighing in with my regular doctor not the nutrtionist though. There is not really a set plan that she has for me. she just told me greek yogurt or eggs for bfest Protein and veggies or salad for lunch and the same for dinner. I have been following that plan, she said she was proud that i had lost 2 lbs, but i feel like it should be more.

  9. But would strongly suggest when it's time for pre-op follow the drs orders. Some doctors will not do the surgery if you didn't do your pre-op diet. My Dr. is one of them. He started a surgery and didn't complete it due to the person didn't do the pre-op diet. The pre-op is to shrink your liver.

I def plan on following that to a "t". I was already told by the gastroenterologist that i had a fatty liver. Plus with my luck if i were to cheat on the preop i know something would go wrong.

  10. Im a bit dissapointed in myself i must say. I am approaching my 5th weigh in with my PCP at the end of this month. Btwn my first and second weigh in i gained 3 lbs and i have only lost 2. So i started in april at 251 and im 252 now. I keep a daily food diary which i am very honest in. But im just dissapointed. I go for my 2nd surgical consult in 2 weeks also and am nervous that the surgeon is going to be ticked that i havent done a better job at losing weight on my own. Ive even though of trying a practice liquid diet beforehand just so i can look like ive made some kind of progress.

I feel down in the dumps lately. I had a conversation with my landlord yesterday(she has the lapband) and she said i am going to feel so good when i start losing weight. I sure hope so b/c (esp during summer) i feel like crap and so embarassed of myself. i refuse to even wear a bathing suit to the beach. i dont want to go anywhere or do anything. I just wanna go home and get in my pajamas

  11. Vixey-- here is a post about my endoscopy that i posted 7/29 it detailed about my experience hope it helps

    Posted July 29, 2013 - 7:48 AM

So i finally had my egd this past friday. i wanted to post about it with details for anyone who is so scared to have this done as i was. It really was a peice of cake!

It took about 15mins. I went in and they gave me an i.v. then they asked me to turn on my side. They put something in my mouth to bite down on gently (i guess so they could insert the scope).

I remember looking at my dr he was holding the tubing and the camera and i was thinking im not gonna be able to do this. Then the other dr said we are going to make you sleepy now. Thats the last thing i remember. I dont remember getting drowsy or anything. All of a sudden i was dreaming about taking my daughters to school. I dreamed that i was drinking something and that it had trickled down the side of my cheek. The next thing i knew they were waking me up telling me it was done. The trickle i felt was actually a little drool lol....So it really was so easy i had all that worry for nothing.

I was pretty loopy afterward for a while. I also made the mistake of eating a regular dinner right afterward. Be careful with that b/c i ate so heavily that i was uncomfortable for the rest of the night. i could just feel it sitting in my stomach.

That being said, the doctor said I have gastritis and a haitial hernia. He also scheduled me for a colonsocopy for sept 6.

  12. I had to do 6 months as well. The first 3 months felt like forever, then after month 3, time flew by. My first appt was 2/24 and my surgery is 8/6. I used the time to help prepare myself mentally and read as much as I could.

I titally agree the first half went so slow, but now i am struggling to fit the last few appoinments in before i go back for my second consultation. I have been using this time to make peace with myself and the food.

  13. I had to do that with several doctors. I wanted to have my surgery before my husband deployed so he would be there to help me, and if I had waited for all the different specialists to send in the records I probably still wouldn't have had my surgery! Because I was on such a specific time line (ended up having my surgery 10 days before he left) I got copies of the records that were needed and then hand delivered them to my bariatric coordinator. It was inconvenient, but it was the only way to ensure that they were received so my surgery could be scheduled.

thanks, looks like its time for me to start making some phone calls. I mean seriously i saw the cardiologist in june and they still havent sent anything over thats ridiculous

  14. I have been navigating my way through my checklist of tests that i have to complete. I just spoke to my bariatric coordinator to tell her this and she told me she hasnt received any test results on me yet. so now i am confused is it my job to gather all these reports and send them to her or is it the duty of each of the specialists that i saw to fax over the results?
