  1. this is probably an unpopular opinion, but ive had a catheter twice for my 2 C sections and i didnt mind it nor find it uncomfortable going in or coming out lol. I did not ever have issues with it or get a uti. Coming from someone like me who always has the urge to pee, i quite enjoyed not having to get up and go. Sorry if that sounds gross and wierd

  2. bleh i started my preop yesterday as well. Im so hungry right now! i had 5 shakes yesterday and 1 cup of cut up red bell pepper. I had the pepper while i cooked dinner for my family. i think that was the hardest part yesterday, b/c as im cooking im so tempted to taste. Especially those creamy mashed potatoes i made. Today im gonna try to add in the sf Jello. what sucks is that i dont even have a date yet for the surgery. the coordinator said she should know within 2 weeks.

  3. i know its hard, i had the 6 month requirement as well. the first half went so slow. it seems all i think about is the surgery. Sometimes its like im crawling the walls. I finished my last appts in late sept and just saw my surgeon last thursday and now im on the preop diet (day one) i dont have a date yet but i should within 2 weeks. Just try to be patient. Im gonna use the rest of the time praticing my new habits like sipping slowly and im going to start getting things in order like all my personal documents etc. Good luck and hang in there! itll be here before you know it.

  4. I start mine tomorrow. Premier Protein shakes, crystal light and sf popsicles galore. Please wish me luck! I could use some encouragement.

You'll do fine! i just started mine this morning too. I can have Protein Shakes, clear liquid, sf Jello, broth and certain vegetables. Just keep the big picture in mind. I want my surgery to be as safe as possible and shrinking the fat around my liver will help!

  5. Im in the same situation. I had my first appointment on Wednesday and they said they will be able to schedule the date after the testing is back in 7 days so I am looking at October too. I have been reading some of the boards and getting a little scared. The gas pain sounds horrible and I making myself more anxious thinking about it.

I am familiar with the gas pains as i have had two csections and had the colonoscopy last monday. they do get pretty intense but they pass after a while. Im scared to but i just try to think of the end result in my head. hang in there

  6. I went to the surgeon yesterday afternoon and they had all my paperwork. The coordinator said that they are ready to submit to the insurance and i should know my date of surgery within 2 weeks. I was floored when she said this. I am so excited and nervous. I have a million things running through my head. i think that i keep expecting something to stand in my way, so far everything has been smooth. Im usually a person that has the worst luck

In the meantime they want me to start the preop diet right away. ill start either sunday or monday. The dr said i will def have a date sometime in October! eek!

  7. I dont really have any advice, but i was up and down during my 6 months of weigh ins. At my last weigh in i lost 2 lbs, but i am still up 4 pounds from where i started originally. I am nervous about this b/c i have my 2nd consultation with my surgeon today and dont want to be scolded. I did my best and thats all i could do.

My niece had the surgery and March she did not have 6 months of weigh ins but btwn nov and march she put on 14lbs in total and they still let her have the surgery. not sure how much she lost during the preop liquid diet

  8. Its been a long road navigating my patient checklist since april, and I am happy to finally say my checklist is COMPLETE! I had my colonoscopy yesterday which went great and I am cleared for surgery from all doctors! Now I am off to see the surgeon this Thursday for my 2nd consultation. Hopefully i will get a date or at least a tentative one! Hip Hip Hooray!

  9. I had 2 c sections before my VSG and there is no comparison, this for me was a walk in the park. Surgery was at 7am and by 2 PM was up and walking and by 8 the next morning I was going home. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired during surgery. I am almost 8 weeks post op down 48lbs and loving life!

    :)

Thanks so much for this. I am in the same boat as you i have had 2 sections and when i have the sleeve i will have a hiatial hernia repair as well. glad to hear it was much easier.

  10. Suchsh--- here is a post about my endoscopy that i posted 7/29 it detailed about my experience hope it helps

    Posted July 29, 2013 - 7:48 AM

So i finally had my egd this past friday. i wanted to post about it with details for anyone who is so scared to have this done as i was. It really was a peice of cake!

It took about 15mins. I went in and they gave me an i.v. then they asked me to turn on my side. They put something in my mouth to bite down on gently (i guess so they could insert the scope).

I remember looking at my dr he was holding the tubing and the camera and i was thinking im not gonna be able to do this. Then the other dr said we are going to make you sleepy now. Thats the last thing i remember. I dont remember getting drowsy or anything. All of a sudden i was dreaming about taking my daughters to school. I dreamed that i was drinking something and that it had trickled down the side of my cheek. The next thing i knew they were waking me up telling me it was done. The trickle i felt was actually a little drool lol....So it really was so easy i had all that worry for nothing.

I was pretty loopy afterward for a while. I also made the mistake of eating a regular dinner right afterward. Be careful with that b/c i ate so heavily that i was uncomfortable for the rest of the night. i could just feel it sitting in my stomach.

    Hope this helps! Good luck

  11. Wow i cant believe i started this journey way back in april. It was long and short at the same time if that makes sense. I just scheduled my second and final consultation with my surgeon for 9/26! I am freaking out! This weekend i have my final weigh in with my PCP at which ill finally get clearance from her and whatever else she has to give me and next monday i have my final appt scheduled for the gastroenterologist clearance! Im so nervous and excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still keeping my fingers crossed for an oct surgery date but we will see. Thanks so much to all those along the way who have been so helpful and supportive.
