  1. Yes! I was just thinking the same thing about the bad taste in my mouth. I have been brushing my teeth several times a day and the bad taste just comes back after a while. Im still in the liquid stage so I was thinking maybe that had something to do with it but I don't know...glad to know I'm not the only one though. I was starting to think something was wrong with me.

It really does suck! I thought mine would have gone away with eating some food but not yet. If you find a solution please let me know, and I will too! I can't stand anything sweet either and I think that is why I can't tolerate the shakes. But I need to get Protein in or I will loose my hair :( Best of luck to you!!!

  2. Sleeved May 6th. Down 20 pounds from 234 5'4". I am having a hard time getting my Protein in since post op. I can drink plenty of fluids just not Protein Shakes :( I have tried several. I just got to purée stage and have tolerated some food. I just have this constant bad taste in my mouth no matter how many times a day I brush my teeth/tounge. Does anyone else have this problem? Congrats on everyone's success :)

  3. thanks for the encouragement' date=' kiki

yeny, we'll just have a long-distance pity party...anybody else invited who wants to "come over" for a little while[/quote']

I will join too!! I am so glad I came across this post. I am also starving!! It has been very difficult wanting to eat and not be able to :( We can do this...Stay strong :))

  4. I was sleeved May 6th, 1 week ago. I am sipping on Water through out the day but I can barely drink my Protein Shakes :( I bought a different brand today so fingers crossed. I was 232 day of surgery and I am 218 today. Pretty happy with my results but I need to get this Protein thing under control. Still having some pain. Also having pain when I drink at times. But I just try to slow down. One day at a time. Good luck everyone!

  5. Glad to hear that my fellow May 6 sleevers are doing pretty good...I have been blessed so far with no major issues...still have a little gas but it's bearable. That day of surgery and during the night I used the pain pump some' date=' but no pain meds since I've been home...still on clear liquid diet until tomorrow...the Isopure Protein Drinks aren't that bad tasting, but it's difficult to get all the liquids in when I can only sip a little at a time....my stomach is making noises all of the time--is anybody else experiencing that? Also, I thought I would feel no hunger...I am not sure if I am feeilng real hunger or just "head" hunger...I think I am still in the mourning stage; i.e., mourning the loss of food[/quote']

I am still in the hospital. I wanted to stay one more day because I was so sick and in a ton of pain in recovery and the day after. They did a swallow test and everything was perfect :) I think I drank too much fluids tonight :( I am not hungry just thirsty. Going home in the morning. Yay!!!

  6. my surgery is at 8:00 am but I have to be there at 6:00 am...don't think I will sleep much at all either Sunday night...did shopping today for my post-op needs..have y'all done that already? what did you buy? what is your plan for tomorrow? I can eat a light Breakfast before 10:00 tomorrow morning' date=' then Clear liquids the rest of the day with nothing at all after midnight

tonight was my niece's birthday, and I went out to eat with the family...it was my last real meal pre-op...we went to Carrabba's, and I had Sicilian chicken Soup , some bread, chicken parmesan with angel hair Pasta, and one spoon/taste of my niece's ice cream dessert...I think that was a fitting "last" meal--good food and with my family[/quote']

Ahh Carrabba's sounds so good!! I went out to dinner last night for my daughters birthday. I played it kinda safe and had a salad :/ Now I wish I had eaten something tastier ;)

I have to be there at 7:00 but probably wont get into the o.r. until 10:00 ish. I bought gas x strips.. chapstick.. facial cleansing white..baby wipes..and then I will bring my toothbrush and hairbrush. I cant think of anything else. I plan to just rest..maybe watch t.v. Idk what to expect. I finally told my parents and they were very happy for me so I am going in tomorrow feeling more excited and positive than I imagined :) I will post as soon as I am in recovery stage. Take care and good luck!!

  7. I have the same kid issue (15' date=' 13, & 11yo)

I have been preparing the kids for a while telling them I am seeing a doctor and a nutritionist to help me lose weight and get healthier. My kids are all big outdoors fans and we camp and hike. Obviously, I can't keep up. So I tell them I want to be able to do more stuff with. them.

I have not told them I am getting surgery. Nor have I told any family or friends. I'm just telling them its another "procedure" like the sleep study, EGD, or stomach emptying studies I have had.

Thanks for the advice. Good luck in your journey!! Keep me posted on how you do :)

  8. Hi everyone!! Just started my pre op diet this morning!! Getting very excited but nervous too. Realization is starting to settle in and I hope I am making the right choice. I do have one question. What do you tell your children (that are old enough to know you are going to the hospital) what you are going in for? In addition to every part of this life changing event? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
