Still haven't lost enough weight (only 2 pounds) =( Hopefully they don't make a big issue of it.

I was in the same boat. I was lucky to have my appointment in January' date=' SO I wore heavy clothes, drank 16oz, ate something, had heavy jewlery on, and some change in my pockets. Hahah every ounce counted. I weighed in with a BMI of 40.3.[/quote']Lol I wasn't as smart! After gaining 25+ pounds when I only had to gain was about 5-8 I heard of people using ankle weights and wearing double clothes etc lol

Lipsticklady is correct! you were not given the rules to follow NOT for them to be broken they were there because even tho you feel great and "CAN" eat all these foods' date=' that is not a good thing. You could very much be damaging your staple line. and could def be in danger of a leak! You need to get back to basics and measure measure measure and DO NOT go over 2-3 oz at a time. You paid for a tool not a miracle...sorry if this seems harsh...but I would hate that you do damage to yourself and see the results that you were expecting.[/quote']
Totally agree. You should really reconsider your food choices.

I had my surgery last week (6/4) at Kaiser West L.A. My surgeon was Dr Casillas. Wonderful and kind' date=' as were all the staff. [/quote']Hi! Yey! How are you feeling? Was the first 3 days hell? I heard that Dr. Casillas is a major a-hole so I was planning on trying to avoid having him as a surgeon lol How much weight did you loose prior to meeting the surgeon and/or getting the actual surgery referral?

Hi everyone! I'm in week 7 of options class at Panorama City. Have any of you lost any weight yet? I'm struggling with that and I'm nervous that the surgeon will deny me & prolong everything =\

My top ten:
1. To feel confident in whatever I'm wearing
2. To be able to wear stilettos again
3. I want to exercise without feeling stupid or having people give me that pity look
4. To be able to go hiking with my children without getting tired so quick & giving up.
5. To have more confidence in bed with my husband
6. To shave my legs and other areas in the shower without passing out
7. I also would like to buy some Victoria Secret
8. I want to go out dancing without feeling like that green monster from yo gaba gaba
9. Roller coasters!!! I love them!
10. To enjoy a day at the beach in shorts & a tank top or someday a bathing suit!

Wow! Thanks for the info!
I got my referral to options from the Downey facility but I had it transferred to Panorama City so I can do the classes closer to home. So now that I'm under the "Pan City" umbrella I am doing the full 12 weeks of classes (I'm currently on week 7). I wonder how things would have turned out if I would have stood in Downey, I might have been finishe with classes already.... =\
I'm also a low BMI'er (40-41) and have only lost 2 pounds so far ;( arghh but now it's crunch time, hoping to loose at least 5-10 pounds before I meet with the surgeon. From what I hear is that since we do have a low BMI that they aren't as strict as they are with someone with a higher BMI. But I still don't want to risk it, so I'm cutting major calories for the next 5 weeks!

I am 3% short. The nutritionist "suggested" that I put on 16 lbs to meet the min weight requirement for my height for the procedure. I considered it for about 2 seconds then decided that's not the way I want to go. I might try to appeal it.Aw man, that's a lot of pounds to gain... But it's always easier to gain then it is to loose =\ unfortunately. Hopefully they'll approve you after you appeal it!

To my understanding once you are refered to the program you are good to go. Yeah the surgeon usually wants the patient to loose 10%..which is 20lbs. For me I lost 8 lost pounds and the surgeon was okay with that.. How long is your program? From what I've heard every KP facility program is a bit differentWell, I'll be doing my surgery at WLA too if everything goes as planned. My program is fir 12 weeks one class per week, I believe that all the SO Cal KP's has the same guidelines...

how short where you on the bmi? I know it sounds so crazy' date=' but if it's close, then maybe put on a few?[/quote']That's what I did/doing... My BMI was 39.something so I just gained the few pounds needed. Hopefully by my consult next week I gained enough. If my BMI was in the lower 30s I think I would have done exactly the same thing too

My starting BMI was 41..... I think most of my class has been referred for surgery, but a few we're asked to loose a bit more weight. The classes go buy so quick and before you know it you'll be sleeved
Ahhh I am so excited. I can't believe I finally found a PCP who was willing to refer me. Sometimes you have to go through hoops with Kaiser When he referred me I was 39.95something lol so I'm just hoping that I gained the extra 2-3 pounds to be over or at 40 so I won't have to feel paranoid that they will deny me after I finish the classes.
Since you were just above 40 were you required to loose any weight?

Arrrgh, this is also one of my worries. I had 3 c-sections and already have loose skin in the lower tummy area... ughhh, but I'm hoping that since I'm only 25 my arms and thighs and ass wont' be too saggy =/
-
That is so cool! Congrats again, I can't wait.
What was your starting BMI? Did everyone in your Options class get referred for surgery?
-
Hi!
Wow, congrats! I can't wait to be where your at. You mean post op as in you've already had your surgery?
I'm going to the Panorama City Kaiser. My first Options class is next Tuesday and I'm soooo anxious to hurry and get this all over with. =)

I'm with Kaiser So Cal and am also borderline BMI at 40. 99something... I just got referred and already went to the orientation. I have my first class starting the second week in May and I've heard so much about them wanting you to loose a percentage of your weight & I'm really nervous that at the end of the Options program they will deny me... argh, kaiser really makes you jump through hoops! So, just as you were, I'm really trying for once in my life NOT to loose any weight so that I will hopefully be at a higher BMI at my first official weigh in #crossingfingers

Hello Everyone!
I am trying to find out for a friend who has Medi-cal (LA Care) if they approve/cover bariatric surgery?
I was telling her she should really look into getting referred but she isn't sure if they even would offer it to her.
is anyone going to the West Los Angeles Kaiser for their surgery?
