    Approved and Excited

    Congrats!!!!
  2. Meet with the NUT today and she said the feeling of fullness and not being hungry "wears off" after 3 years. WTF! Anyone on here 3+ years out?
  3. Sitting in my pcp office. Waiting to see her so she will write the letter of support. She is very conservative. She has ally info from my Endocronoligist who recommended this. I have been trying not to get excited or think that I would really do this until after this appointment. I don't think I noticed how much I want this until right now. Please say yes....please. This will be the day that makes or breaks me.

    My dr better say yes

I would have never made it this far without you guy. Now if you can just give me the balls to not run from the OR
  5. missyjoy2078

    wow

Anyway you can get a consult with a different dr? I found that they all have such vast opinions

    My dr better say yes

Holy ****!!!!! She said "I never say this to anybody but I think this is a wonderful option for you and you have made the right decision". I'm so happy and so scared at the same time!!!
  7. I was on stealth mode too! As I started to consider this more and more I started posting and watching YouTube video blogs. This has by far has been an amazing tool to help manage expectations. (I think? I'm still in the approval phase - and scared out of my mind)

    Heels ?

Back when I was "thin" like size 12 I was able to rock heels. Now at size 18 they seem like torture devices. nyone notice the can rock heels post op?
  9. 1) today I made all of my appointments!!!! I will have everything done by May 1. So now my "thinking" about this is becoming real. 2) this might be a stupid question -BUT- in the beginning does it feel like you have done a million sit ups? Or do you get stomach cramps and pain? 3) I've heard people say when they first come off the liquids that the hope the food "goes down ok"? Like it feels like its stuck? Or like you are going to barf? 4) if you do barf-does it feel like the staples will pop out? I'm really really afraid for recovery.

    Heels ?

If I wore them now I'm afraid my boobs are so big and my ass is so flat I would just fall forward all day! My ass will always be flat but these boobs need to go!

    Heels ?

That was going to be my plan B. My Endocronoligist is the one who suggested this in the first place. I didn't even know the sleeve existed. I'm just afraid that my primary will talk me out of it. I'm so afraid that I feel like I will be easily scared out of it but deep down - I know this is my only option for life long success.

    Heels ?

Those are some bad ass shoes!!!! I can't wait to go shopping! I have my regular dr appointment next Monday to have her write the letter of support. She is extremely conservative so I'm freaking out she will say no. I want this so bad and am so scared at the same time. Just the thought of being able to finally take advantage if the amazing sample sales (they mostly only go to size 8 - 10 of you are lucky) we have in NYC makes me so excited!

    Today, i kissed myself! :$

As I read this I cried more and more. First if all you sound like a very lucky woman to have a husband so supportive and thoughtful. I have felt every word you said. I hate getting my hair cut because you are forced to look in the mirror for so long. I hope I see this through and all goes well so that I can have the feeling you describe. Thank you for posting and motivating.

    Surgeons In The Nyc Area

Dr Roslin at Lenox hill. So far I live him. Haven't read anything bad about him except that his office has a wait and they are a little disorganized. I had my consult with him and got very honest answers and I feel like I have realistic expectations. Lenox hill is an amazing hospital

    Frustrated :,(

On this site you can also search dr Roslin and find others opinions about him as well. I was thinking again of backing out but read all the positive reviews on him (but the slight dysfunction of his office) and now I'm back on board!

    Frustrated :,(

I'm only a few months in but have you looked into Lenox hill in the city? They are affiliated with north shore LIJ which is probably closer to you but I love Dr. Roslin. I also love Lenox hill ( if its good enough for Beyonce to have her baby there and al roker to have his surgery there - it's good for me). Also have you ever seen and Endocronoligist? Perhaps they would write the letter of support you need? I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance so I'm hoping my pcp gives my the thumbs up ( I go next week). I would suggest that if you feel this is what's best for you in your heart, it will all be worth it, don't give up. Just look at all of these hoops part of making the best informed decision for you. Good luck!

6 month diet - Weight watchers?

I've been doing weight watchers before I started looking into this so thankfully my 6 month is done. I did lose 30 lbs on it but I do find the meetings very helpful in making food choices which could really help you post surgery. While I did like online - the accountability of someone looking at my weight helped. I have insulin resistance so this 30 lbs has taken over a year. Annoying. Can't wait for surgery! Good luck no matter what you decide!!
  20. Should I think it's weird that in all my paperwork there is no mention of a pre op diet? I'm considering having the surgery at Lenox Hill in NYC. The only thing is Clear liquids the day before.
  21. missyjoy2078

    No pre-op diet?

I know I am thrilled about that and not having to have a drain after. That would have been a deal breaker for me.
  22. Hi everyone! New to this sit but I have been obsessively reading or weeks. I have decided to do this. I've been to the seminar and have had the consultation. I know this is right or me. In reading every thread I noticed that not one single person who has done it was sorry they did it. I'm afraid of the recovery, I'm afraid of the catheter, I'm mostly afraid I'm going to regret it. But the thought of liking what I see in the mirror for the first time in 20 years and no living with the constant fear of becoming diabetic...
  23. missyjoy2078

    Is anyone sorry?

He does use it but thankfully no drains. (that would have been a deal breaker). He also doesn't do the two week pre op liquid diet.
