Aftercare for people banded in MX

Hey Skye! Dr. Eduardo Gonzales Surgical Weight Loss Center 1000 S. Paark Blvd. Winston Salem, NC 27127 336-784-8299 Call his office for the latest prices. He'll happily see Mx bandsters. And he gives good fills. I haven't been filled in almost a year now, and have only had 2 (and one unfill) and I'm done with fills. Good luck! Thanks for the heads up Kim!

    Potty-Training Boys???

Give me all you got, all you experienced people out there. I got me a cute little 3yo boy who is beginning to do the deed. This has been my technique so far, since it worked so well on my daughter, but as you know, the boys are a totally different animal. (He's in there now watching an episode of Spiderman for the third time. I don't understand how that captures his attention?! My daughter would never sit still for that?!!!!) Anyhow, my technique so far is not to push him. When he's ready, he'll do it. So he turned 3 in Feb and started to worry a little. My daughter was fully independent at this age. But he goes for hours with no wet diaper and I even changed a dry one first thing in the morning one day and said, okay it's time. I started really encouraging the potty seat. He'd sit for a 1/2 hour watching TV and get a ring on his butt and not pee. Then one day, Yay! We had a dadgum party when he tinkled in that potty! So during the day he'll intentionally tinkle in the potty. One day he even said "I need to go potty" and sat down and went! But, no poopie so far. Tonight I told him "put the black in the potty" and his eyes got wide and he said "no" in a very worried way. (I don't know where this "black" comes from, but he calls the poop "black"?) Toss out some ideas for me folks. I could use any and all ideas!

    Potty-Training Boys???

Okay, 2 nights in a row now with NO diaper! I bought him new Superman and Scooby Doo undies, and a 6 pack of tighty-whities, like Daddy. He has tons of undies now! No accidents so far...WOW!!!! How's all our little men doing? (Bettina, that story about the kiss on the bus is sooo cute! Good thinking about the dress...what an impact! LOL)

    Don't need a new band

This really is good news, Babs, I know you know this! All is well with your band, you are fighting your head now. And THAT's a battle you CAN win! Yay you! Thank you so, so much, all of you, for sharing your longer-term bandster stories, the good, bad and ugly. You are an inspiration. I have not had a fill since last October. And I'm not getting one. I'm leaving this puppy alone, I say! I'll work with what I've got. Your experiences are very comfirming of this desicion. So, thank you.

An update on my band problems...

Thanks for the update Babs. I have been following what's going on, and it's so nice that you have a doc who is helping you get to the bottom of it. Thanks for posting updates, it really helps those of us coming along. I wish you the best! and will be looking to find out the results of your scope.
  10. Yes, wait till after next week when the TOM has passed you by. And Full liquids...not just clear. Egg Drop Soup is great, any cream Soups (blended), yogurt, thin mashed potatos, guacamole, etc etc. Keep it super soft with small bites and ride this out. If it doesn't get better, time for a small unfill. That's what I think anyway. If you have a hunch I'm off-base, or something just isn't right, call your doc. Don't listen to some bloke on the internet, okay? Drink your aloe vera ! LOL
  11. Move slowly Laura! Good idea to stick to liquids today, then move to mushies tomorrow for lunch and stay there for at least a few days before you try chicken, hamburger, or salad again. And not all at once! One item at a time per meal, so you see how your band reacts to each of the solids. Some folks are fine with salads...some can do hamburger...if there's one you can't do and another you can, you need to know so do the process of elimination thing. And keep up with the aloe vera. Am I the Kathy you are thanking? LOL I think perhaps it's me, since I've been the Aloe Vera Junkie here on LBT! There's no need to Water it down. The more pure juice you get sitting on your stoma gurgling down the better, I'd think. I'm no doc, just another bandster, so take what you want and leave the rest. Listen closely to your band. You ARE too tight! But if you stick to liquids, then move slowly through your mushies, you may end up just fine with good restriction. Now is the time to be extra careful. If you aren't, you could lose some (or all!) of your fill getting stuck on something. Too tight is NOT good! Just get rid of any swelling with liquids and aloe vera, and avoid getting stuck. Slow waaay down on your eating. Hang in there, and don't be afraid of a small unfill if you need it. Bandsters shouldn't be living on liquids long-term. You should be able to comfortably and slowly eat real nutritious foods. Good luck! I'm glad you like the aloe vera. I have heard papaya enzymes are great for unsticking foods, too. I haven't tried it, but I'm thinking you have a great combination there. Yay you!

Heather, just do the updates once a week on Thursdays after everyone has checked in. We don't mind waiting for the updates! Really! (speaking for everyone...LOL) Don't get too overwhelmed or it will become a chore rather than a joy. Don't lose the love!

Excellent. Think of how much dirt cake (mmmmmm) you would have eaten in the past. Your dinky scoop is nothing, right? You got the right idea. Yay you! hey, 503, have you checked out Sparkpeople.com? It's great for logging food. I like it better than FitDay.com. Plus you get this handy pie chart that tells you the percentages of carbs, fats, and protiens in your calories each day. Handy. It has helped me get well below 180 this past 5-6 weeks. Knowing what I'm eating helps me choose better. Love it. :hungry:

Just for the record, T-O-M posts his Off-Topic threads in the Lounge, where they belong.
