    In pain after eating

loriely, sounds like you still have alot of swollen tissue in the band area, to add the hernia repair...ouch! IMO, your band is telling you to slow down. Sip smaller. If it hurts, don't drink it, or drink smaller sips of it, and don't drink another sip till that one goes through. Easy on the band! It's talking to you! Dont' worry, it's not like that forever. You'll be guzzling Water with the best of them before you know it. Just give yourself some time to heal and time for the swelling to go down. Another thought, when you drink too fast, it causes the pain, which causes irritation, which causes more swelling...round and round you go. Back up to that first step and slow down. Good luck! Keep us posted!

    Flaming and being flamed

Nancy...throw it out there, some will listen, others will not, let it ride. If someone is really interested in more info (I was!) they'll quote you and ask on the thread (like I did), or PM you. You can't MAKE people respond the way you know they ought to. All you can do is offer up your info. Now, I'm going to check out the "offending" thread! LOL

OT: Help, my Jade plant is dying..

Aren't these plants really difficult to kill? Leave it to me. So, all you green thumbs out there, what do I do with this pitiful thing? I'd like to put it in a prettier pot (obviously) but do I replant the whole ugly thing? or do I cut off what's left of the good stuff before it dies, too? Does this pic even give you a clue about what can be done? I am at a loss, and I'm about to trash the thing, but when it's pretty...well, it's a beautiful plant! I had it indoors, but it was falling apart and I stuck it on the deck rail during a misty rain, watered it slightly, and, well, here it is...help!!

OT: Help, my Jade plant is dying..

They are! I have passed them along to my banded friends in Charlotte. Dragonwillow has the funky jeans and the wrap shirt. The rest...who knows which girls have them! Clothing exchanges are wild! Think...restaurant parking lots, cars lined up, 5-6 girls digging through one another's trunks...LOL! Yep, I'm in a 16W now. Can't quite do the regular 16's (big butt/thighs and flabby tummy, eww) but I'm getting there! Yay! You married yet? How's Herman?

    Finally Banded

You did it! Congratulations Dody! Yippee!!! You are normal. Feeling hit by a freight train is a good description. I felt tired and, just tired. Exhausted. Take it easy. Rest. Sip. Walk. You'll recover nicely, I'll bet. Yay Dody!

    Need Help

Athena. I was "only" 242 at my high weight, which felt like hundreds of pounds more than that. I did manage to lose about 20 pounds on my own by going to Curves and exercising regularly. But my eating/portion control was a huge problem. I knew if I could just quit eating so dadgum much, I'd be okay. I found out about lap bands and found this site and knew it was for me. My hubby agreed that is the band worked properly for me, I'd surely lose. So far, so good. I weighed 182 this morning and have been really struggling to lose more weight. My band is not very tight, so I'm trying to really make it work without another fill. It's hard. I can eat 1800 calories a day if I'm not careful with what I choose. And, truthfully, I was eating 1800 calories a day at surgery weight and maintaining. These past weeks I have cut back to 1200-1550 calories a day and I'm hoping it will show up on the scale. It's work. No doubt about it. But it's work I am now able to do. My little band helps me so much. At my fill level, I have to eat slowly and carefully, chew really well, other than that I could get away with murder on my food choices and even with the amounts. The biggest difference for me is that I can no longer shovel and shovel massive quantities before my head catches up with me. I have what's called an NSV thread. It's a thread I started so I can track my Non-Scale Victories. You can zip through that and get a glimpse of my journey. Others here have NSV threads, too. Life IS better after losing weight! Please make sure you know what you are getting into before you do this. I have had good success with my band, and plan on having even more! I have no regrets. Here's the link to my NSV thread. Hope it helps. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=10252

    Need Help

hogue, with "only" 55 pounds to lose, you may, indeed, need to have your lap band done in Mx. It really depends on your BMI. Do you know what your BMI is? My best advice on going to MX for surgery is to be SURE you have a local band doc who will give you fills and take care of you should you run into problems. Also, I have heard many good things about Sanchez. I have lost 60 of my 95 excess pounds and it's made a huge difference in the way I feel. So I don't discount the importance of your "only" 55 pounds to lose. It's alot! I know. Research well. Be sure the band is what you want. Know about life after banding. Be informed! Your good research will be good for your family as well. Maybe you'll get less "flack"? Good luck!!!!
  20. Good girl. Congratulations! And you, too Apryl! More Band Babies! Yippeee!!!

Pain, discomfort and not being able to eat

sim, no fish, only liquids till you get unfilled. And sip super-small, okay? That stuck pain is your band telling you "NO!" so listen to it. Drink protien shakes and the like so you get some nutrition. It matters less the size of your band and the amount of fill. What really matters is your band is telling you it's too tight. Your doc is right that the band will loosen with weight loss, but if you keep filling it, it won't loosen! You MUST be able to eat real, healthy foods in reasonable quantities. Also, do you crush your pills? And is the Panadol liquid? Girl, please go get an unfill!! You'll feel so much better. And if you don't, you may have a slip. Let's hope not! I'll check back on you!

    Celebrity Fit Club~Carnie Wilson

Does anyone know the day and time it's airing? I like that show. It's a bit soap opera-y, but fun to watch. I like Carnie Wilson. I can't wait to see her do well. Losing weight is HARD, no matter what!

Gone for Good Club - July 2006

Yes it is, dadgummit. Lots of us are going through it this week. 182.0 this morning. But don't bother to update me...I think it says 180.8 (yah, right) but just leave it...I'll get back down. Thing is, I have been logging my food on Sparkpeople.com, FitDay before that, since 7/8. For the last 4 days I have been around 1200 calories a day! Geez! What's it gonna take! Now, I have been working out hard...not Telly-hard  ...but I'm sore. Oy vey. Patience. I swear, I'm posting BIG when I see 179 on the scale. And it BETTER happen, or else!

    Favorite Motivational Saying

"Just the Middles" Taken from FlyLady. She talks about just vacuuming the middles of your carpet, don't worry about the corners and behind the sofa. You'll get to that. Don't get overwhelmed...just worry about the middles. So I apply that to all kinds of things throughout my day. For weight loss, it's about being okay if it isn't perfect. The perfect day has 1200 calories, less than 130 carbs, less than 30 fats, more than 60 protiens (or whatever), I have exercised hard for an hour and my entire house is clean. Yah, right. Just the middles. It's OKAY!!!!!!

Pain, discomfort and not being able to eat

sim, the pain is from your esophogus and stomach tissue above the band trying to push foods (er, liquids, in your case) through a very small stoma, or opening. You are too tight. If you have any fill at all, have it all removed, and I think you will really be amazed at how much better you will feel. You may have slipped, and if this is the case, you need to find out. Either way, a complete unfill is in order for you. If you have not slipped, you need to spend some time unfilled and reducing any swelling in the area. You do this by sticking to a liquid/very soft diet. You may also need to take some type of acid-reducer medication, and I always recommend Aloe Vera juice. Sip a few ounces of that a few times a day. It's very healing. Try not to worry about weight loss at this stage of the game. You are doing great! Your banded life is painful and frustrating, and it's not supposed to be this way. Get a new doc! I can't believe he filled you with the symptoms you are having! Shame. Get unfilled, and keep us posted! (((hugs))))
