    Heartburn after a fill?

You are not masking a problem that could lead to esophogeal damage. You are TREATING a problem that, if left untreated, can lead to esophogeal damage. One of the symptoms of a too tight band is reflux. Heartburn. Yes, Prilosec or another OTC acid reducer is a good thing to do...UNTIL you can get in for a small ufill. Tums is handy, too, just not long acting like Zantac, et al. You need a small unfill, IMO. And yes, call your doc. Good luck and keep us posted!

    Tipping In Mexico

I tipped the doc's driver $10 each way when he took me over the border. I tipped the hotel drivers to and from pre-op appts $2-3 each way. (My doc does appts a bit different now, and I don't know who your doc is). Oh, and I tipped the bellman $1 a bag plus $1 and left $5 for the housekeeper. I don't know if I overtipped or not. I just took plenty of 5's and 1's so I didn't have to worry about change. Are you taking a cab over the border from the airport? Most of the docs have a van and drivers to pick you up and take you back...???

Gone For Good Club- August 2006

Awwwww! Sweet! Part of my previous inactivity with my family was, legitimately, my youngest son was too young to really do anything. Someone had to stay with him and not participate. Due to my weight, it was generally me. Yesterday, we ALL took a hike in the woods behind our house (there's about 600 acres back there) and we walked a looong way down the RR tracks to an old logging road. You can't see it from the tracks, but if you venture off down the logging road, there's an OLD house back in the woods. The foundation piers are made of stacked rocks. Hand cut wood. Tin roof. Fireflace. Huge front porch. It's actually kind of big, maybe 4 large rooms. We can't go inside it's in such disrepair. But what a piece of history! I wonder who made their home there, or if it was some type of RR house? Anyway, we walked miles. I imagined myself trying to haul my 65 pound loss through the woods and down the tracks. No way, Jose. It was good to have a real FAMILY outing...all of us! Wow P'nut, I just went to the link, Wonderful!!!!!!!! You look FAB!

    Celebrity Fit Club~Carnie Wilson

I saw the last 30 min last night. How did Carnie do this week? (or I think it's 2 weeks between first show and 1st weigh-in). I like this group, even though I have no clue who all the NYPD/Sopranos folks are. Or the rappers, for that matter. Or Baywatch. What am I, under a rock?! LOL I remember Tina Yothers, though!

Gone For Good Club- August 2006

Hey Liz, how you doin'? I still haven't seen 177 again yet, but I'm holding steady at 178.2. I busted up totally yesterday. It was my MIL's 83rd birthday and we had a fish fry. I was hoping some of the fish would be grilled, but no. All of it was battered and fried!!!!!! So, before I even left, I went to Sparkpeople and put in 6 ounces of shrimp, 6 ounces of grilled fish, tatar sauce, cocktail sauce, and cole slaw, just to see where I'd be. Then I took my little food scale. I measured the 6 ounces of shrimp, wowza! that's a load of shrimp! But I ate it fine. Then I put 6 ounces of FRIED fish on my plate with tartar and cole slaw (1/4 cup), and I was only able to eat 4 ounces of the fish. At the end of the day, including some dessert nibbles, I was over 1800!!!! calories! My max is 1550, bur for weeks now I have been keeping my calories in the 1200 range. So, we'll see how that plays out on the scale in the next few days. I was 178.2 this morning (Sunday). And I took a nice hike this afternoon with the family and some nieghbor kids. We walked a looong way in the woods and down some RR tracks. Fun! Hey, P'nut, where's all these pics of you I have heard about? Your avatar looks great! Telly your kids are beautiful! My camera phone takes lousy pics. They are so grainy! Yours look so clear! hi everybody! OH! Guess what? We bit the bullet. I don't know how we'll do it but we'll come up with the extra...DSL comes on Thursday. I can't believe I'm finally getting DSL. Through the phone line. We don't have cable on our street. But I'm PRAYING! it will blow me away with the speed, compared to what I'm used to. Maybe I'll visit the Before/After thread more often. LOL

    Ex still hanging on

Sounds like he has your number. He needs help, you fix it. The more he needs you, the easier you cave. He's treating you like you have the word "SUCKER" stamped on your forehead. And when you finally cave...again...he's confirmed that he can get one over on you next time. That's a shade-tree analysis of a situation I know nothing about except what you just posted. *shrug* If it helps, though... Good luck!

    Is this Okay?

You are NOT a failure! Girl, you were banded 3!!!!!!!! days ago! There is NO way you shoudl be able to eat the 3 meals just yet. If they are liquid protien shakes and broths and Jello, etc, just eat/drink what you are able to. Your journey is YOURS. Not the dieticians. Listen to your body. If you need calories, get them in as best you can with your protien shakes. Egg Drop Soup from the Chinese take-out is another great food. Feeling blue and tired and questioning yourself is normal. Fresh from surgery, anesthesia, and lack of calories all contribute to that. You should be drinking as much as you can as slowly as you can. A sip should not cause any discomfort. If it does, take smaller, less frequent sips. I was super tight after surgery (went to the ER at 1 week post-op for IV fluids, I was so tight-this is not normal, but it happens)) and I was taking a sip and swallowing that sip in 2-3 swallows, just enough to coat my throat. I'd imagine you should be drinking a few ounces every hour or so. Let your body be your guide. You'll know if it's too fast (it will hurt in the middle of your chest) and then you whoudl slow down in quantity and rate. No more of this failure talk, okay? (((((HUGS))))

    NSV with Levi's Jeans

Oy vey, no way now, baby! I think these thighs need a fit even roomier than the "not too slim" 505's you bought! Did you go to Levis.com or something? I need to find the right cut, then go try some on. Soon...I'm getting there! Thanks for the inspiration!!!!

    NSV with Levi's Jeans

I cannot WAIT to get a cute pair of Levis! Remember the button top 501s? Do they still make those? That was a super cut for my figure (back then at 130) but i'm hoping I can get into something similar. I did Kohls about 6 months ago and tried on jeans...yuck. I'm not there yet. But you ARE!!!! WTG!!!!!

Awwww, Catey! I remember all too well the feelings! It's normal, and you WILL feel better! Stay hydrated, sip small, walk, rest. Be nice to yourself! It gets a bit better every day, and one day you'll think "wow, I feel like me!" Took me about 2 weeks to be able to say that to myself. You get there!!!!!

STUPID f'n band! what is WRONG!!!

Alex, I have done the back and forth "do I need a fill?" for months now. Thankfully, I haven't experienced any "real" problems with reflux or a need for another unfill. So I do know that I'm enjoying good restriction, though my band could go tighter if I wanted it. Somewhere along the way, I'm convinced that fill after fill after unfill after fill and yet another unfill isn't good for the band or the esophogus. I know it's so hard to get that fill spot just right, and one certainly can't live with the problems of a band that is too tight. I have decided to leave my band alone. I will work with the restriction I have and have no plans to get another fill. Ever. However, I will get the rest of my weight off. I simply will! Please don't underestimate the power of a (healthy) band, even unfilled. I just KNOW if I could shovel food like I used to, I'd be right back up there. I'm convinced of it each time I watch my sister down a chick-fil-a sandwich in 6 bites in under 2 minutes. The fact that you (and shelly and babs and leatha) still have bands does, in fact, help you. It HAS to! Now, I don't know that I have EVER experienced that "wide-open-I-could-eat-anything-do-I-even-have-a-band?" feeling, so I don't have a clue about what all of your restriction is like. I understand that. But we can ALL get to our goal weights! Perhaps we raise our goal weight along the way to something more realistic (145 pounds ain't happenin' on me...165 is realistic) but if we want to lose more, we can! I think 210 looks great on you, btw. I think we all look great! But if there is more weight to lose, even without perfect restriction, I think we can do it!!! Please tell me my optimism isn't misplaced!!! Good luck shelly. everyone!
