  1. I agree premier protein RTD shakes, 30 grams of protein 160 calories and very easy to drink. I get them at bj's and Costco.
  2. I'm sorry your having such a hard time, I think we all get discouraged. I had to work really hard at creating "a new normal" I'm still working on it:) Things that I find that help me is to plan and pack my meals, snacks and waters. So even though I work from home and ESPECIALLY on the weekends I have everything I need until dinner time in my lunch box. I am one of those crazy people who LOVE my protein shakes and I usually incorporate them into my lunch box. I eat "lighter" because of this and snack on nuts, grapes, deli meat and raw veggies. I make a dinner plan each week for my family and will eat a modified version of it. So if I make chicken, ziti and broccoli I skip the ziti. This works really well for me! In terms of exercise, I set reasonable weekly goals. I have 3 kids so between school, dance, karate, soccer, etc. each week I write out a schedule for my husband and I so we know who needs to be where and when. Based on that schedule as well as our work schedules I also "schedule" in yoga classes (very new to yoga still) and gym times. I also walk every day for about 3 miles while at work. I would encourage you to plan as much as you can and try and break it down so it's not so overwhelming. I hope you find the support and encouragement you need!!!
  3. Good for you for resisting

    9 hours out of surgery

I remember I was dying for a drink too, the wet swabs did nothing for me. Remember it is temporary and you will soon be on a drinking regiment. Walk and sleep to take your mind off of it!

    Fresh fruits and veggies post-op

I have been doing fresh fruits and veggies for a couple of months. I introduced them slowly, so I would eat one for a few days and if I tolerated well I would move on to another. I eat small bites, chew a lot and eat slowly. The only ones I didn't seem to tolerate were gen apples and banana's.

    A bit worried :(

My doctor works closely with my NUT but he always says to use her as the guide but in the end do what works best for me. For example, I am 4 plus months out and strangely enough I LOVE protein shakes, she says I shouldn't rely on them. I talked to the surgeon and he said as long as I am eating some foods, meeting my protein, water, calorie and exercise goals and I am losing then he's fine with it. Long story short, I would say do what works best for you
  11. I went to my first yoga class today, firstly I was thrilled that I could follow along somewhat successfully. More so however it was the first time I ever felt comfortable being in an exercise class. I was able to focus on the yoga and not obsess about how fat I was and how I didn't fit in. It was an amazing class and I will be going back tomorrow

    Kind of an NSV!

HA! It's great that you can paint your own toes but I will NOT be sharing this post with my husband! Mani's an Pedi's are my only "extra's" and I'm not willing to give them up!
  13. I was sleeved in 4/9/13 too Congrats on your amazing weight loss!
  14. You look fantastic, yay for you!
  15. I am 4 months out today and so far I have lost 54 pounds. My surgeon is happy with my weight loss, my PCP wants me to "be careful", she feels it is a little too much too soon. However she did say since all my labs were good and I was following the plan she was not too worried. I think different doctors have different views. For me I know I am eating what I am suppose too, exercising and I feel good so I think I am fine!

    Bridesmaid dress question

Its great that your dress came in and fits! I am in a wedding on 9/1. When I went to buy it a 16 would not zipper I bought the 14 and now its too big I have a friend who can do the alterations so I'm waiting to the extreme last minute to have them done.
  17. I am the opposite I love to grocery shop! Its fun to find new and different things to eat. Last week I went just to shop for me , its not easy but I thinks its fun to try new things. Maybe it will be better for you when your a little further out. Good luck

    I know I have messed up :(

I would definitely go back to the your doctor and NUT and if they have support group meetings I would go there. I would also kind of start back at the beginning, 2 week liquid diet, followed by soft food, eating really small bites, no eating and drinking at the same time and start to exercise. One or two walks around the block to start and gradually increase. You did it once you can do it again. Good luck to you!!!

    Yay for you, enjoy
  20. Probably not the same but I am constantly playing with my wedding rings. Its amazing how the spin around my finger and I can see the sparkles! A few short months ago they were just shoved on my finger and it was an effort to get them off. Again, its not exactly what your talking about but I thought I would share

    Family support

That's great and although as indicated above you need to be physically active as part of this process it is still great to have people who love and support you around. You will have plenty of walking partners and people who can help you get through the rough patches. My surgery was easy peasy, no complications no problems. But I was surprised of the "buyers remorse" I felt in the very beginning and also how weird I felt when I ate and drank with my new stomach. Enjoy the time you have with your family

    I want to interview you

I would e happy to participate, just message me with the details. Good Luck!
  23. Wow, you have been through a lot. I am happy that at the very least you still feel good about the surgery and that you are losing weight. Moving forward I wish you all good things. Best of luck to you!

    A few things

I had that happen, I was really concerned because I was taking small bites, eating slowly and chewing my food really well. My NUT thought that I might be chewing too much (I was a bit obsessive!) I started chewing a little less and the issue was resolved!
