We are at the airport and waiting to get on our plane!!! We are usually up around 430 to feed our little guy so it wasnt too tough to get up. Amazing thing is our little man woke up and actually stayed awake after eating to say bye to his mommies. Gonna miss him. We are both sad to leave him but he will have a fun week with his grandma. We had one last talk with my wife's parents- be careful, call us when you get there and after the surgery, etc. I know they are worries but the baby will distract them I'm sure. Our older daughter doesn't know what we are going down there for. She thinks we are just going on a little vacation. I'm sure she knows something is up but she has such a big heart and loves her madre so much she would worry all week and we don't want her doing that.
My wife is so excited that its finally here! The waiting has probably been the worst part for her.... She has been really looking forward to the surgery for so long.... I think we both had a hard time sleeping just because of the excitement!
We get into San Diego around 11.... Will continue to post as we embark on our journey! I am so proud of my wife for having the courage to do this! Viva Mexico!!!

Arrives at the Marriott. It's much nicer then WMO expected. Sam was great- gave us a little tour of San Diego. It really only took about 20 minutes to get to the Marriott from the airport. That included being randomly selected to be checked crossing the border. Sam told us crossing into Mexico was no big deal at all because Mexico Doesn't care who comes in. The difference in the borders and security was interesting... You can see the US side as your cross the other way. Mexico had guys in construction vests and then border patrol. It was quite different. We were picked to be searched and sam just explained why we were there and what was going on. They took a quick peek in the car and that was it.
The hotel is nicer then we expected. We arrived and the bell hop immediately took our luggage. We checked in quite quickly and then we were escorted to our room. They really do treat us very nicely. Once we were in the room we received a call from Rosie and she will be in to talk shortly. Overall it's going great so far!

We have arrived! The pick up was very smooth... Called Samuel when we were by baggage claim and he was there within minutes! Pulled right up and picked us up! Off we go to cross the border!

I am a supportive spouse and will be traveling with my wife who is being sleeved April 2 by Dr.Garcia at Mi hospital. We arrive Monday the 1st. I plan to document our journey with photos and information as we go! This is a very exciting time for my wife and our family. Such a life changing event. I am very proud of my wife for having the courage to do this as well as doing so much research to reassure me. I have to admit that I was quite skeptical about it when she first came to me but after all the research she has done, and after learning more- I am very excited for her. And support her 100%. We went through a very tough process with our damn insurance and after all the work, hoops we jumped through, time, and frustration she decided to look into Mexico and off we go in about 10 days. Currently we are in the preop diet. I say we because of a couple reasons- one- she is not doing this alone. I plan to be with her every step of the way and go through it with her. While I am not being sleeved- i know part of her success depends on me and my support. And two- I can stand to lose a few pounds myself. I just had our second baby (yes I am a girl as well) and would like to lose 40-50 pounds myself so what better way then to
Diet right along with her! So as I said... Research- done. Arrangements and flights- done. Protein Shakes, Vitamins, and all the other little things we need- done. Pre op diet- working on it! She only needed to do 7 days but decided to get a jump on things so started at 14 days.
I am hoping to either find more "support persons" out there or at least as I document my wife's journey- you can share it with your support person! I had many questions that we have found answers to and some we haven't. I guess we will get those answers along the way!
