Thanks for all this information! I've had dozens of abdominal surgeries, non weight loss related though, all due to a seriously botched operation 16 years ago...OY!
I've been waiting years for a chance to do this sleeve operation, I was far too ill before, but I'm scheduled to have my surgery April 3rd, 2013, and I've been told that I'm a rare care since Medicare approved to pay for this procedure 3 days after my surgeon asked for it.
I'm notorious for over packing for surgeries, but all my other operations I'd end up in the hospital for a minimum of a month to 3 months after each. For this sleeve procedure I've not yet been told how long a hospital stay I'll have, but my surgeon, Dr. Patrick Reardon has operated on me so many times through the years that he's a little over protective of me, so I don't know how long I'll be there. Hopefully a day or two like most of you.
I think the only thing I'd add to your list here from my many abdominal surgeries is not to bring anything like a lotion or perfume with a strong scent. That is the only thing that really gets to me post-op is a strong scent.
During all my past surgeries I've been lucky to have had my sister with me, but this time I'll be alone. This will be the first laproscopic surgery I've had, all my other operations had huge incisions, so I'm not really worried about this one at all.
Today is my first day here, just found this place and I'm so happy to see such a wonderfully informative and supportive community!
    Thanks again,

Day 1 of preop liquids and I've come to realize the horrible addiction I have to eating. I'm not sure if its nerves or the fact that I know I can't eat but all I want to do is chew something. This is ridiculous. I'm not even hungry. Call it oral fixation or eating addiction but Houston we have a problem. I'm so ashamed I never realized this sooner. Hopefully this week off foods will help prepare me for what's to come. I refuse to give in and cheat on my diet. I am not not have ever been a quitter. I will conquer this. I have to in order to have a safe surgery and optimal results. Btw...Swansons low sodium chicken broth is so bland. Lmbo.

Okay, I threw the rest of the bag away. Why did this not occur to me before? I not only threw them away but I soaked them in dirty Water, crumpled them up, and then threw them away.
No more messing around!! liquids only, for the next three days. No excuses!
I guess I thought this was going to be easier than it turned out to be. I've read many posts where people say that people are not even hungry post-op and their tastes have really changed. Well, I am still craving most all of the same junk, but it still remains to be seen if I still enjoy the same stuff. Right now, it's all these craving in my head, fueled by the idea that I'm not getting enough calories. I've heard people say that post-op they shoot for about 800 calories a day, but in my mind that is way too low. I think that I should be eating between 1,200 and 1,500 calories each day, to lose weight steadily but not too fast. It's all just excuses, I suppose.
Thanks everyone for your support. Please keep the suggestions coming. I need all I can get. I have to beat this!

I think your doing the right thing by coming on here and seeking out support. Dont beat your self up too badly. it is hard to change life long habits. Right now what you need to remember is that you don't want to increase your chances for a leak in your incision so for safety reasons you really want too stick to the list op diet that your dr has you on. Make sure you are getting in all your fluids, I found that helped curb the any hunger as well as find things to preoccupy your mind. I started listening to audio books in my spare time and it helped curb the head hunger.

It's not just your weight loss you're messing with.. You may do a lot of damage or cause yourself some serious sleeve issues. Does this not scare you? I died twice with band complications and getting the sleeve was my final chance at not failing or sabotaging a WLS.. I refuse to play games with things now. My life and success is very important... Please value yourself too! Be careful
