  1. Yea, I'm on that bandwagon too.. I watch tons of food network and cooking channel shows.. My wife always asks how I can watch that and not want to eat.. I just like it.. I used to watch a couple back in the day, but now it's just seriously nuts how many I watch.. lol
  2. The first 6 weeks it is a bit of a learning thing.. There is lots of gas, and your stomach is pissed off at you on top of it.. lol It gets easier as time goes on.. I do tend to have to remind myself to eat at my stage (3 1/2 months) hunger is a different feeling then it used to be.. I don't even know how to accurately describe it...
  3. mgd 64 is carbonated, not sure that's a good idea.. I think beer is out.. I stick to shots or mixed drinks.. Deserano and pineapple are good, if I want something a little stronger Vodka and pineapple, cranberry, or orange juice.
  4. best thing to do is take a step back.. Your stomach just might not be ready to move up yet.. Also take it very slow with very small amounts.
  5. Yep, pre-op tests. Mine was meeting the anesthesiologist, they did an EKG, drew blood, did blood pressure, listened to my lungs and a couple of other things. It took about an hour. If they find any issues they will alert your surgeon. They found an abnormality with my EKG so I had to have my primary doctor give me clearance. He just looked at an old EKG and saw the same thing and said nothing was wrong and it is just the way my heart beats.. I dunno.. My mom always said I marched to the beat of a different drummer.. I didn't know she meant it literally.. lol
  6. Don't panic about loosing a ton of weight on the liquid diet. You will lose some, but it's mostly to shrink your liver. Once you are sleeved, you will do great as long as you stick with it and make the best food choices you can..
  7. you will see crazy amounts come off in the first month, at least I did.. at 4 months out I now lose about an average of 3-5 lbs a week still.
  8. Yea, I have to move my glass away as well.. It's a hard habit to break. I was told to stop 15-20 mins before eating also.
  9. First few days are a bit rough, but it gets better every day! Just remember that.
  10. It's a choice you have to make for yourself and your health.. I'm not going to try to talk anyone out of a surgery that some feel is elective. I can tell you that on March 20th if I didn't have my surgery I probably wouldn't have lived more then another couple of decades at the rate I was going.. Since the surgery, I am almost 80 lbs down, blood pressure is normal, per-diabetic symptoms are gone, snoring is gone cholesterol is normal. These are the factors in yourself that you need to think about.. The only thing I regret was not doing this years ago.
  11. average for a female at 5' is roughly 130ish. Figure out a weight YOU feel comfortable with and make that your goal. It is achievable if you do the work.. Don't expect the sleeve to be a fix it all.. it is a HUGE tool to help, but you have to work it for it to work for you.
  12. You might not get it.. but don't let that stop you from doing what you know is best. After the fact she will have no choice to accept what is done, and at that point hopefully she will move from trying to stop it to supporting you as you need. I would sit down and tell her that this IS what you are doing, and her negative talk and be more supportive.
  13. Congrats! You look amazing ::wolfwhistles:: I can't wait to feel comfortable again without a shirt This time next year I will not leave the beach
  14. if you read the post you want to comment on the bottom right corner is a "quote" button hit that and it adds the comment they made to your reply.
  15. congrats! feels good dont it?
  16. my doc said 6 weeks for workouts.
  17. Same here, but I don't get obsessive with it, and still am losing decently.
  18. I was the primary cook in the house. I still cook once in a while, but not nearly as much as I used to.. My wife said the other night "I'm hungry" I replied by telling her how the knobs on the stove magically make fire.. She wasn't impressed with that answer..
  19. yes, it does get worse.. But it can easily be controlled. I take one omeprazole (priloces prescription) a day and in most cases I am good to go.. once in a while it will fair up late a night and I take a tums or something like that and it is fine. Heartburn vs. heart attack, I'll take the heart burn every time.. I know if I didn't get the operation heart problems where in my not too distant future.
  20. I've been using Palmer's Cocoa butter formula massage lotion for stretch marks and it seems to do an ok job.. I also use some soap stuff with what looks like sand in it and a scrubber in the shower.. The combo seems to be working for me.. I had some pretty bad loose skin under my arm pit area and upper thighs and they are more firm then they where.. not perfect, but better. I also work out as much as I can.. weight training to build muscle on my off time from mma training.. I need to up my weight training, but I am already at my mma gym 14 hours a week and at retro fitness 2 hours.
  21. I didn't do this, because I honestly don't know what size I will be at the end of this thing.. I just got 2 new outfits (my first new clothes because wearing my old stuff was starting to look like a little kid wearings dads clothes) and I was able to fit in a 36 inch waist jeans!! My old jeans are 42-44 inch.. I was soooo excited that I fit into them. I got 2 xl shirts which do fit, but are still a little tight right now.. They should fit great in a month or two though Now that I hit the half way mark it is a bit easier to see myself fitting into a 32 inch jean one day.. but I will wait until I am there to spend the money.. that way I can see how awesome they look at the time of purchase..
  22. you look great! Congrats. I don't see where you could find another 35 to lose though.. lol
  23. I felt the same way and I'm pushing 75 lbs down since March 10 (day I started pre-op) It's a battle, and it takes time to learn what is head hunger and real hunger. The one thing I can suggest to you is to set up an account (free) at myfitnesspal.com and track everything you eat. It does a couple of things for me.. it lets me know that even on days I do splurge a bit I barly touch 1000 calories, and on average days about 600. It also lets me track carbs, and plan out my meals / Snacks.. If I know I am getting high on carbs, I make a lower carb choice and so on. I started it when I was in a stall, and it helped me get over it. I also use an ap called jefit for my iphone to manage my workouts. It's not the best one, but it works well for now. Also, while watching what you eat is best, do not obsess over it. Track it, make the best choices you can in what you eat and you will do fine.
  24. At that stage cheese was my best friend. I also liked wheatthins as well for a craving for crunchy.
