  1. What are symptoms of not getting Water? I have felt great but the last two days something has changed.. I'm trying to figured out what? I see people say I'm dehydrated.. What are the signs?

Check your tongue if it is whiter than usual that was my sign, drink Gatorade for a full day, my nutritionist told me that, so I try to get at least one in a week

  2. Hello all! I have my date set for 6/4. My question is and I understand everyone is different. I have 2 small children and I'm wondering how long I may be down for. I'm planning now for help and just wondering how long. I've had a few abdominal surgeries(c-sections & lapband) and I tend to bounce back. Thanks in advance!!

I have a 4 year old and a dog that jumps a lot, so I went to mothers so she can help with my son, I had 2 c- sections and one lap band, but for some reason I was in a lot of pain this time, better to over prepare then under, good luck

  3. I really wish ppl would fill out their before and after pics ...and their profile !!!...it is such an inspiration to so many to get advice and good tips ....then when u look at their profile and see no history and / or pics its a bit discouraging !!!! ::: :( .....just sayin!............also when responding in a forum i find it helpful to know the persons surgery date !!!! :)

I would love to, but cannot find my profile

  4. I stalled at the third week for one week but then the weight just fell off for a month or two. I was told by my surgeon that its just like a regular diet' date=' the first little bit goes fast then stops (that’s when most people stop dieting). Our bodies store a chemical in our muscles for energy use, this chemical also retains Water with it. Right after surgery we use this chemical and the Water leaves out bodies at this time. After the chemical is used our body needs it back so we store it up again, along with the water... hence the stall. Once we have gon through this cycle we start to loose the fat as our body now know this is a permanent change not a emergency short term event.. I don’t know if this helps but I found it interesting.[/sub']

Wow thank you so much for posting this, it totally gives me hope now, April 3rd surgery and been on a 2 week stall

  5. I am nervous because the insurance is questioning why I should have the revision when my band is intact and not eroded or slipped. If anyone has had good results getting insurance to cover in this situation please let me know what to say to them. The band totally failed for me. I am still hungry after I eat and weigh the same.

Band failed me also, mine was put in wrong and was never able to get it filled, but I constantly got things stuck having to make myself vomit, I told them my sob started mimicking me in vomiting, at times I had to pull over on the side of the road just to vomit, and my teeth were getting bad from all the vomiting, just some things I put in my letter

  6. Hi everyone! I've had my band for 3 years and I am also considering getting a sleeve. I've had horrible experiences that have led me to empty my band. Vomiting' date=' chocking, chest pain etc. for the people that have had the sleeve. Do you ever feel like your choking on your food??![/quote']

I choked and had to make myself vomit daily, since conversion I only feel bad if I eat to much

  7. Ok' date=' I have a special situation. I'm 9 days preop and Sunday night my son was admitted for an emergency appendectomy. I've been at the hospital now 3 days with nothing but apple and grape juice. If I see any more juice I'm going to throw it through the window (not really).

Yesterday I was allowed to start milk a little at a time. Today it went fine also. Tomorrow I'm allowed Protein shakes. I am physically hungry and was wondering if I'm allowed to have a pediatric size ice cream. I know it's not an ok food, but it's milk and sugar. Should I just tough it out til I can get home and get my Protein tomorrow? Can I eat this without injury to my pouch? I just need another 150 cals and need a bridge. I'll never eat ice cream again (blech, but it sounds better than more apple juice).[/quote']

Well during my pre-op I cheated quite a few times but was real strict 3 days before and my Dr said everyi was good. Not that I think you should cheat but I think you will be just fine

  8. Hi all. My op was April 16 and I've lost 22lbs since the surgery. I started solids this week and is having difficulty. I no protien is important and has started drinking my shakes & smoothies. Actually the Dairy Queen smoothie with added Protein is really good and goes down smooth. It's a lot better than my at home blended Protein Shakes.

I tried egg & chicken salad my mom makes without the extra fixings and that appears to b tolerable. Tried baked Talapia tonight and had the chest issue' date=' which is my issue. I hate this part. What's the best way to handle this?

I don't want to lose too much weight and have that drained older look. I actually like how I look now and only want to lose about 30lbs more. I'm 5'11 with a large frame and believe a size 18 Misses would be nice.

Really afraid of losing too much weight and want to know how do I get thru the solids successfully.[/quote']

Hello, I had my surgery on April 3rd and I can't have solids for 2mnths, maybe its just to early for you to start. I have only just started puree.

  9. I need some advice here please!! I am 7 months out and I have lost 81 pounds. This I am happy about however the past few months I lose very little. Some weeks a pound or two and other weeks nothing at all. I go to the gym 4 days a week like clockwork and burn about 300 calories or more each time I go. I am eating between 900-1200 calories a day. I have a lot of Protein also. Average is about 100 grams a day. I just don't get why I hardly lose weight the past few months. The past month I have lost 4 pounds. Can anyone please give me some pointers or advice on what I may be doing wrong? Am I not eating enough?

I would go back the beginning with only 60 grams of protien and 800 calories,

  10. You've lost quite a bit of weight fast. This is just a "stall" period that your body is going through. Completely normal :)

As for Protein goals 60 grams of Protein a day is a good target to hit.

And yes walking at this point everyday is great.

I also am an Apr 3rd sleever, my Dr. And Nut sais 60 to 80 grams of protien, 800 calories, and 64 oz of fluid/water, I did have a 6 day stall but am back to losing again. I am down 29lbs. Good luck

  11. Im having my sleeve in may.....everyone at work asks how long ill be out......i work at a grocery store...in the deli....standing lifting...putting loads away.....i tell them when ever dr..says its time....can you guys...give me...ur experience s

I was trying to be all tough and said I would be back in 10 days lol ( I work in a hospital) I was out 4 weeks and I'm still on restrictions for 2 more weeks.

  12. I'm 1 week post op. I don't know how to tell when I'm full and I'm scared I'm over eating. Calorie wise I'm usually around 5-700. I'm aiming for 50 gram of Protein a day. My nut said to get 40 the first few weeks on liquids.

I've stopped drinking 15 minutes before and 30 after. The things I eat for means or Snacks are 1 packet of cream of wheat' date=' 1/2 cup of pudding, although today I at 1 cup of pudding. I just made cream if chicken Soup for dinner. It was one can of Campbell's. I ate about half of it. In none of these instances I felt full. I feel terrible gas pain between and under my breasts, but it passes.

I think I feel hungry and that is why I start to eat. That desire an hunger goes away. I realize that's good but I still don't feel my stomach saying I should stop not have I over ate?

I'm just confused because I was told I would get full very quickly.[/quote']

I measure all my meals to 4 oz, and don't eat anymore, I did eat more once and got REAL sick,, so as long as your not hungry don't push it, and you don't wanna stretch your stomach its very early in healing, my advice is measure and don't eat anymore. Good luck

  13. I have two areas of pain at my lower ribs on front right and left side that mysteriously showed up last week. Have not injured either of these areas.

After some googling' date=' others with similar symptoms are indicating costochronditis. Maybe some inflammation issue or some other internal issue. Some even said ulcer may cause this. I have stopped taking nsaids about the same time this pain mysteriously appeared. Just a coincidence that the two happened at the same time, but I really do not think there is causation or correlation.

Otherwise feeling good with energy and keep an active fitness schedule 6 days a week of running and cross fit. Anyone know anything about this who is in the medical field? I really do not want to pay the PCP yet another visit and pay yet another copay.[/quote']

I had the same thing had all kinds of test and come to find out it was gas
