  1. I'm a week post op today, and I feel Thanksgiving full all the time trying to get close to the protein they want. Ugh, it is miserable. I'm hating the proteins, I get so full and bloated. Cant wait for this phase to be over, another whole week:(
  2. So tired already of the sweet shakes, need some new ideas for less sweet. I have chicken bullion paks and unjury chicken Soup and unflavored but need some tips to make them palatable. The nurses in the hospital brought me chicken Unjury with huge globs in it that really turned me off the whole idea, SO nasty!! Anything "legal" I can do with my PB2?
  3. Thanks everybody:) I've calmed down and prayed through it, I think it's probably a good thing to be alone for a few days. Need to put on my big girl granny panties and move forward. Had some restaurant egg drop Soup for dinner without even thinking of a Protein shake and I've adjusted my attitude. So nice to be able to hear affirmations from those who have been there, thank you. This community is such a blessing:)
  4. MrsPierre~ Does Sonic sell that ice? I had that in the hosp and it was nice for crunching. bigsleeve, whatever do you mean? are you suggesting I go on a Vicodin summer holiday?
  5. Thank you guys:) The thing is, I too CRAVE my "me" time as both my husband and I work at home. I'm a big chicken at night alone but usually I like me alone time. Just blew up at my hubby so no kittens were harmed. I haven't told many friends about this surgery and 2/3 of them that I told are on the trips that everyone else is on, so I don't really have anyone to lean on, except my parents. You're right, i need to schedule a pedicure. I got some chick flicks and I have books. I am starting a cookbook of favorite recipes from here and from Eggface, etc. but looking at all the recipes makes me think of food again!!!
  6. So, I'm thinking the emotional side effects of surgery are descending on me, i kind of want to hurt my husband. It's been a week since surgery (tomorrow actually) and I'm over the whole Protein adventure, still have some gas, it's too damn hot to be outside, and all I can think of is what I'd like to "chew and spit" which will make people here yell at me. Plus to add to the fun, my family is leaving me entirely alone for the next 5 days. Older son is on mission trip, and in the morning hubby and younger son are leaving on a bike trip with the church. I have my parents close by but part of me wants to punch my hubby for not cluing in that he should be staying here with me, not abandoning me. I would probably eat him anyway:( Gotta get some perspective and chill, I know, but like I said right now I want to punch a kitten or a baby or something:(
  7. I'm only 6 days post op and I haven't yet figured out how to do the weighing thing. Throughout years of dieting, the weighing in moment was the single biggest cause of frustration and the catalyst to making me think "#%@^&$#% it! I GIVE UP!!" so now I'm kind of afraid to start that pattern again. Now at least there is more chance of success than failure but doing it every day seems like when I don't see a loss it will be a frustrating/emotional day.
  8. Congrats on such a healthy attitude and how far you've come! I have watched your story here and really admire you, now even more so. You will do just fine, and find love again that is for real:)
  9. Can you mix up a Nectar and make SF jello with it??? Will it set up?
  10. Try donating to the women's domestic assault shelter. Their goal is to help theses women become self sufficient and get a job-- they love to receive nice business clothes that will work on interviews... Shoes too!
  11. So are you making p the nectar and using it as the liquid for Jello?? Genius, it sounds like to me!!
  12. I just started a thread on this very topic today! I'm 4days out too and apparently it is quite normal, so relax. My thread can be found searching "explosive diarrhea"
  13. I had formed an almost Pavlovian reaction to sitting at my desk working (work at home) with little candies in my desk... BAD. I have totally replaced that with having SF gum on hand in the same drawer. I may be transferring into a bad habit of gum, but it's really only when I sit down to the computer. FYI those dessert SF gums are fab!
  14. ugh. somehow though misery loves company, huh? We're all at the same place. Otherwise I feel like I'm doing well, only taking pain med at night to help me sleep, still some neck/shoulder gas but feel pretty good. How are you guys doing otherwise?
  15. I'm pretty much always drinking something lol. I had a 8oz Nectar, went for a short walk, then felt I needed to get home. Also had been sipping on iced tea all morning.
  16. Sorry, kind of embarrassing but I need to know if this is concerning. I'm on the 4th day post-op, and having terribly liquid diarrhea that is preceded by loud gurgling in my intestines. I feel like I can't go out and walk too long or I might have an accident. Is this normal? ugh, how long will it last?
  17. Same thing happened to me, it took the ins. Office over a week to fax the paperwork once they had given me the verbal approval!! It made me crazy:(
  18. Girls, I asked my NUT and nurse in the hospital about amount of Fluid. I said, yes I know the rules say 48-60oz of fluid, but what amount is ACTUALLY going to keep me out the hospital with dehydration??? Their answer was 30oz.... So try your best to get to 30 and then give yourself a breather:)
  19. My surgery was June 18, three days ago. I'm doing pretty good! liquids are incredibly slow, so far today I've drank 20oz of waters and 8oz soy milk in a Protein shake, that's it. I WILL get through another Water today!! But I have had no incision pain, just gas pain. Been working my business and walking a bit, had a couple diarrhea BM, and only taking the pain med at night to help sleep. Slept on my back flat last night and it was good.
  20. I'm 3 days post op too. I had a small BM befor leaving the hospital yesterday, but prior to having it, I had asked my nurse how long to wait on the first BM. She said to take some Miralax if I hadn't had one by the evening of day three post op, which for you means tonight.
  21. Praying it with you girl! Lay yourself in his arms and move forward in faith. By now you are probably in surgery or done, and your new life will begin!! My surgery was Tuesday and I'm over the bad hump, glad to be home, and sipping the water!! Let us hear from you when you are up to it:)
  22. I slept in my own bed last night and did well with flat sleeping. Even did a couple hours on my side too. I am not a good sleeper at all before all this WLS... I asked my surgeons PA if I could take a Benadryl at night to help me sleep and he said it was fine, so I finally got a heavenly night of sleep last night in my bed. If the sleeping issues don't improve, maybe you could ask your doc/nurse about Benadryl at bedtime, I've used it for years and I was OK'd for it:)
  23. I came home yesterday. I've been sipping on a bottle of Simply Balanced flavored Water from Target since I got up 3.5 hours ago!! Had lots of pills to take also, one at a time, so not even done with it yet but getting close. The hospital NUT and nurses stressed getting in the water WAY before trying to get in the Protein. Just do what you can, keep sipping, and don't worry about protein at this very early stage. So nice to be in my own bed last night... You will enjoy that tonight!
  24. Those are awesome NSVs, Gman!! Kick the young kids' butts!
  25. Because someone wakes you up every two hours in the hospital!! I spent my first night home last night in my own bed and even slept flat w no discomfort. It was great to be in my own bed:)
