3 days post op

I am now 3 days post op and like many also struggling with fluid intake. Very uncomfortable when I take in hot/cold fluids. Also have not had a bowel movement since day of surgery. Not sure if delayed bowel movement is normal or if I need a laxative.

Hi, Dimples. I am four days post op and just got to have my first taste of yogurt! The fluids intake goal is really a challenge. I'm bringing a bottle of something with me everywhere that I go. In regards to the BM, I was told to use a stool softener if things don't pickup.

My Dr. told me not to worry about constipation unless I was feeling cramping/bloating, and then take medication. It is normal not to have a BM for a few days because you have not eaten any food in a few days.

I'm 3 days post op too. I had a small BM befor leaving the hospital yesterday, but prior to having it, I had asked my nurse how long to wait on the first BM.

She said to take some Miralax if I hadn't had one by the evening of day three post op, which for you means tonight.

I too like you had gone quite some time w/I a BM. My Doc told me to get Milk of Mag and it worked wonders! The liquid pain meds caused me to become constipated and full of gas.
