    Adolescence and Obesity

Sweetie, you need to realize something very important here or you will never win this battle against obesity. We are the same as before the operation. You didn't have your appetite or your cravings removed. They are all still there inside your body and if you don't learn to control those hungers, now that your doctor shrunk your stomach, all you'll end up doing is sabotaging yourself. You don't want to do that now do you? The doctor only helped you by reducing your stomach size so you shouldn't over do. This is your time to really analyze what you really want for youself. Do you want this opportunity to finally lose the weight, or are you going to continue to find excuses for why you can't? It's up to you right now. I'm sure your doctor told you not to eat any foods for six weeks, just liquids, that means 60-80% of proteins per day. NO FOOD. You'll love me for this later. Fight those urges with all you got. In the end you will have won the battle, and won it. Good Luck

    Sleeved on February 28

Hi There! You are the first one I've found to truly understand what this is really about. It is an emotional and psychological battle with ourselves. Everytime I read another message how they are having 'cravings', I can't help wondering what they expected. We are the same, hunger, cravings, and the whole ball of wax. The only difference is that we were given a second chance to work with our particular disability, to try and manage it, to win this dreaded battle of over-eating and obesity. We still need to remain vigilant, concerned and alert at every moment less we give in again to our 'cravings'. This is war people, we have only been given the weapons to fight this, there are no written guarantees we will succeed. It is up to YOU and your true fight to overcome this dreaded disease, obesity. Are you all up to the challenge?
  6. Hi, Welcome, good luck to you. It's nice having a nurse on board. Maybe you can answer some of the questions these people have, concerns they are facing. I learned something from you already I'm going to check on. I had surgery 3 months ago and had too many obstacles and ultimately, my diet is suffering. I need a new doctor and definitely , a new program that will aide me in this long journey. If I could just get down 13 lbs. I feel I wouldn't be viewed so harshly, but do you think I could do just that? I guess that's too much to ask. I really need exercise, but I can't get motivated. I hope this is not all there is! I believe my doctor held out on me and as a result, we've parted ways. I ntruly need a concerned benefactor to help me through this or I will be lost.

    Food addiction......

I had to respond to your courage and fortitude to put it out there. You are very brave. I often felt through out my life that if I went to a 12 step program, maybe I would finally find the courage you have displayed here. I can't imagpne you failing at weight loss since you have conquered other, more dangerous obstacles in your life. Bravo! Show us all the way to go. You go girl.

    Gastric Sleeve Newbie!

Hi There; we are all where you are or was there short time ago. Let me give you a major piece of info that will help you down the road. Stay on the liquid for 3 months if you possibly can. It will prevent all the regrets that will come if you start to eattoo soon. Once you taste food the struggles begin for losing weight. So hang in there and stay away from the food.
  9. You don't know how lucky you are, go with it. Eventually it will change and then you'll struggle like the rest of us.
  10. Hi' I'm 3 months out and still struggling every single day and not winning yet. I've only last 27 lbs so far and just can't stay moitivated long enough to take the next big step. I want to lose 13 lbs so baddly. I just can't kick it in gear.

    Gallbladder stone

What few people realize is that when we are born, we begin to decline in health. Depending on how well we nourish our bodies, and how well we were nourished in-vetro will determine how fast we decline. Symtoms begin to display themselves such as gallstones, and many more other fallings. These are all indications that we are in need of solutions to improve our health. Having gallstones shows the doctor that your body is showing signs of breaking down and you need treatment, new diet, and a healthier lifestyle. You won't be rejected.

    Normal

Your stomach is not ready for food, all you are doing is creating a problem for down the road, take it from a person who suffered miserably from eating whole foods too early. And you should be taking 60-80% protein at this time or you'll lose your hair.
  14. I have some advice that might comfort you. If the hospital thought you were at risk for blood clots, and they would know from your blood work, they would not put you at risk, they would put you on cumadin, a blood thinner. Have they done that? If not, stop worrying. You have so much other stuff you can wrap your head around. Go to the internet and see what you can take to make you feel at ease, there are vitamins for just such things as this. Relax, enjoy what is yours today.

    B12 Shot

I'm taking the monthly shots, I can't say they are better, for I see no application. What I know is that anything I don't have to take by mouth is great by me. I have to take a Probiotic, chewable by mouth and I could just gage, plus taking all the vitamins by mouth. I just wish it all didn't have to go down the throat all the time. It all ads to my stomach aches.
  16. I HAD MY SURGERY 3 MONTHS AGO AND I HAVE ALL BUT LOST IT. I'M NOT LOSING AND I'M SICK ALL THE TIME. I'M ALSO HUNGRY ALL THE TIME. I THREW UP FOR OVER 10 WEEKS. IT HAS ALL COME TO A SCREACHING HALT. I'M SO UPSET I FIRED MY DOCTOR, WHO CLAIMS IT WAS ALL IN MY HEAD. IT'S NOT. I NOW HAVE NO WHERE TO TURN. I NEED SOME GOOD ADVICE. DR. FANG, WHO WAS REPORTED AS A TOP SURGEON OUT OF PHOENIX, CLAIMS THAT WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING HAS NOT BEEN HEARD OF. I THINK HE'S LYING TO ME. NEVER-THE-LESS, I NEED ADVICE NOW BEFORE I GAIN BACK THE 27 LBS I LOST SINCE SURGERY, THEN I WILL BE DEPRESSED BEYOND RECOVERY.

    NOT DOING WELL

I have read all your silicitous comments and I have decided that going back to basics is what I need. It's going to be hard to not eat again but that is what it's going to take. I started this morning. All liquids and pureed meals and I have to report, it's working so far. My stomach hasn't acted up at all yet. I thank you all for your support. I really needed that. Maybe now I can finally start losing again.

    My story begins...

Hi Mindy, I too entertained the thought of going to Mexico and did extensive research on the subject, Here's what I can tell you. Dr. Garcia is a good choice from all I read. I take it you'll be going to Jersalem Hospital. That is a problem only because they treat bariatric pts. like cord wood, in-and-out. I heard several stories where they even made you walk up stairs for receiving your surgery. If you think you will be in a separate room with room service like here in the good ol' USA, forget it. you'll most likely be with several other pts, (cord wood). This is a thriving business for them. In-and-Out. As for everything else, provided your surgery was laprascopic, you should be able to handle everything you asked about. I am 65 and grossly over-weight and I handled everything very well, as far as walking, lifting or carrying, although nothing heavy. Overnight bag is fine. One thing I thought of after was possibly having a cane or walking stick for support. If you had a friend, you could lean on their arm, but since you will be alone, think about it. It will be an experience going there but I do believe you'll be safe enough. I wish you God speed, and good luck.

Today is my SURGERY . 6 am

I said a prayer but surgery is the least of your worries. I felt like dancing when surgery was over, because I knew this was the beginning of a whole new lifestyle. Embrace it and do as instructed so you do not have any problems.
  20. Your hair is falling out because you are not getting enough protein. The ratio of protein should be 60-80% a day.

    NOT DOING WELL

The first 6 weeks I ate like I was suppose to but I was hungry all the time. If I ate anything at all I felt sick to my stomach, sometimes throwing up. I pretty much eat anything now since it doesn't matter. I continue to have sick stomach aches all the time. I take 2 otc antacids, and 2 perscriptions for anti-convulsing and ulcer protection. I am out of control at present. I don't want to eat and yet I eat all the time. Food has lost its attraction for me, I only eat because I'm hungry. I'm open to any suggestions. I am now taking Green Coffee Bean extract, that is not working for me either. I have been searching the internet to see if anyone else is suffering the same affliction and I did come across articles claiming people have had to have continued surgery, though rare. I know I am not alone in this. I couldn't drink water for the longest time either, I love water. I can't eat without drinking now. I don't eat like I should, I have no appetite to. I am keeping up with vitamin therapy though. I need to find a new doctor who will continue my treatment and who can advise me.
